Deep-Vein Thrombosis: A Patient's Journey 

Gained so much weight earlier this year and became very inactive. And then I was diagnosed with DVT last September. I was so scared because it was very hard to walk/stand and I am working abroad and living alone. I'm on blood thinner right now, but I hope that I could walk and move around like I did before. I wanna go back to my passion (dancing) and start again. I hope it's not too late. Praying for everyone's recovery here. We can do this!

My partner is in the hospital now. Had surgery and will need rehab to help him walk. I told him to drink water lots of it. Praying for his recovery.

I had DVT - multiple clots in lungs 6 months ago. Just coming off Xeralto now. It was a flight from UK to Australia that did it. I woke up in pain and trouble breathing. I thought I was wasting everyone's time at the hospital - the doctor asked if I'd been overseas in the last 2 weeks and had I experienced pain in my calf - yes & yes - he picked it straight away and then confirmed it with tests. On my flight I had picked a window seat in order to prioritise sleep. It will be aisle seats from now on for me, plenty of water and plenty of moving.

At 19 I had dvt in both legs due to overdosing on heroin after being clean a long time and relapsing my first time, almost killed me. Sadly my own mother and her friends left me in the mini van where I took the drugs and overdosed. I fell backwards ontop of my legs laying on them in a very awkward and probably painful position , and woke up the next day in a hotel room and couldn’t feel the floor with my feet. Fell back asleep and woke up later with my legs the size of a 500 lb obese persons leg. Went to the er and they said I had blood clots and dead muscles in my legs. They removed both of my calf muscles and had to put in wound vacs to help them heal. Worst pain and experience of my life.

I'm writing this for the next patient searching for answers. I'm not a surgeon, a doctor or a radiologist. I am currently in my 5th week suffering from Chronic DVTs and have 5 blocked veins from a fall on the ice and I cannot walk without crutches. No broken bones or torn ligaments. I've have lots of time to read and familiar myself with my condition. What wasn't mentioned in this video was chronic DVT. Chronic means the clot as changed from acute (soft and flexible) to Chronic (harder and stiffer). Starts hardening ~7days after the clot forms. Obviously each case is different, and I am not a doctor, but surgery is better in the first weeks then later. Sucking out jello is easier then a gummy bear. Your veins will scar over time with the stretching of a chronic dvt and will lead to PTS (Post thrombolysis syndrome) aka chronic pain for the rest of your life. No research stating PTS won't be there with surgery or without. Only your body. I was told it could take a month to 6 months for "the body to dissolve the clots on their own" But I was never given the option for surgery until I starting doing some research. Also was told not to have compression stockings. And I'm finding that different doctors use different treatments for their patients. I can say if you are having a hard time moving around get some custom stocking (they need to measure you, and 20-30 compression is what I received) With the stockings now I'm able to have more mobility and less time with my leg elevated. I made the decision to get the surgery, with the inari clotretriever system. As even after a month of this, I'm done, I can't imagine 2 years with some of the patients cases I'm reading. When I was in the hospital, there were two others with DVTs. Old lady and her foot was swollen and could move around, the other was a men who just had knee surgery. Their vascular ultrasound report showed 4(male) 2(female) veins blocked, mine was 6! (1 has dissolved since) Again I'm not a surgeon, a doctor or a radiologist. Form your own conclusion with your doctor(s).

Had DVT a year ago with no known concrete cause. Didn't realize how risky DVT is and could have progressed to PE and could have died. I was only 31 y/o. These things can still happen to you even when you think you are at your healthiest. Be careful and be healthy ya'll. 👍🏼✨

Im at the age of 38 suffered with DVT brain hambrige , one week in coma and 2months in ICU, left side was suffered, so terrible the halosination and fits... Oh my God.... Allah pak save me and give me another chance to live... I was on warfin n ribaxozole. One year has passed, now much better, ALKHAMDOLILLAH...

My husband was diagnosed DVT in 2018 at 2020 he was diagnosed with venous thromboembolism now he's agian hospitalized for severe stomach pain and vomit we were in love for 7years and got married lastyear and having a baby gril now. So scared of our life

If you have DVTs, I had them + PEs. If you can get in a swimming pool if your having trouble walking 🚶‍♀️. This has helped me a lot. Thanks for the video.

If this isn't a major warning to walk around at regular intervals (if possible), I don't know what is. I was unaware of the lack of hydration risk factor, so that, too. I'm glad Amir is ok so his pretty daughter and wife have him in their life for many decades to come.

After years and years and years of my dad smoking he just had a stroke last month and a few days ago he had a pulmonary embolism witch took his life but he never been to a hospital for 30 years before the stroke

I hope people can get the best medicine and treatment anywhere in the world, God have mercy on us seeking treatment and medical help at the moment

I've had two episodes of PE's. First set when I was 25 with multiples in both lungs. Mine started with pain & swelling in my shins. My neurologist didn't like what he saw during my follow up with him for another issue so he sent me down for blood work & evaluation in the ER. The D-Dimer came back showing clotting & then the cat scan that followed showed multiples in both lungs. I was in for almost 2 weeks. Then 7 years later I had pneumonia & PE's in both lungs. So much fun once again 😂 my hematologist who is now my oncologist just lovesssss me 😂 and I'm now only 34!! Gotta love it!

I experienced a pulmonary embolism in 2019 and thank God I survived. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Thank you very much. I had a large blood clot under my knee in an artery, the size of a large grape. The doctor prescribed pills, I drank them, but the general condition was very bad, I could not step on my foot, and I had no strength at all, I even spoke with difficulty, I just lay there. It was so bad that I thought it was all over. Cellular nutrition helped me, I began to take it, and after the first intake, strength appeared, it is easier to speak. I'm now taking Xarelto. It thins my blood the best. But, we must be careful. Because we bleed so much. I'm more afraid of internal bleeding than the pulmonary 🫁 embolism. Best wishes fighting this scary disease.

I have no other problem relating to breathing or any swelling or pain or redness.. Nothing.. But on both my legs behing knees there is a little bluish blood clot.. Don't know what is this😓

My 94 years old father has non-occlusive thrombus in the left common femoral and the left external iliac for the last few months and has been on warfarin. The initial dosage shot his INR to 4.1 and reduced Warfarin dropped the INR to 2.3. He has excruciating pain in the leg and the only painkiller (Panadol) has been prescribed doesn't help much. The doctor tells us the pain will go away slowly. Is there anything else out there that would help with his pain. Many thanks in advance.

This happened to me many years ago and was getting severe leg pain. I think it might be happening again. Will get checked out since I also am high risk since I have been sleeping in my for long periods without getting up, high risk. I also stopped my blood thinner. The only one I can tolerate is Warfarin. They first put me on Tinzaparan and then enoxaparin injections. I can tolerate them but they are injections.

1month now i have swelling before its in the upper knee but now came down in my ankles.. its gone and come doctor give me paracetamol and creamgel but still swelling... 16yrs old i have a varicose vein everytime i stand long time my legs become tired and heavy and now i i have swelling... im afraid for what it has why like this😢
