Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) nursing NCLEX review lecture about the symptoms, treatment, pathophysiology, and nursing interventions.
A DVT is the formation of a blood clot within the deep veins. It's a type of venous thromboembolism (VTE). Unfortunately, a deep vein thrombosis can break off and turn into a pulmonary embolism (another type of VTE).
What veins are most susceptible to a deep vein thrombosis? Veins that are in the pelvic, lower leg, and thigh. This includes the peroneal, posterior tibial, popliteal, and superficial femoral veins.
Virchow's Triad can help us identify 3 main factors for clot formation within the deep veins. This include: stasis of venous circulation, hypercoagulability, and endothelial damage.
Signs and symptoms of a DVT are: redness, swelling, warmth of surrounding skin, and positive Homan's Sign.
A DVT can be diagnosed through an ultrasound or d-dimer test.
Please watch the video for nursing intervention for a deep vein thrombosis (include mnemonic).

Your generosity in providing free educational videos is nothing short of extraordinary. Your dedication to sharing valuable nursing knowledge has not only rekindled my passion for the profession after a decade-long hiatus but has also paved the way for countless others to enhance their skills. The fact that you chose not to monetize these invaluable resources speaks volumes about your commitment to making a positive impact on the nursing community. You are not just a blessing to your generation; you are a hero whose selflessness and expertise are changing lives. I'm sincerely grateful for your contributions, and I wish I could personally express my admiration and gratitude. May God continue to bless and prosper you on this remarkable journey.

Thanks a lot! As a nursing student, your videos helps a lot for me to keep going. I can no longer rely on the education system because all they do is just give you the modules and have us go figure everything out. This pandemic sucks

I heard a patient say that they got lovenox in the subq in the back of the arm like an insulin injection. But I've never heard you could do that. I thought that lovenox was only supposed to be given in the abdomen?

Hey, is the pain from DVT sudden or gradual? I felt sciatica-like pain earlier this week then it subsided now but i'm feeling pain in the backside of my right thigh, my calf is swelling a bit and then it spasms when I move it too much or too sudden. Hope you can enlighten me.

I had DVT in Aug, didn’t get it checked and Sept turned into PE. I am now on Xarelto. I had trouble with Dorsiflexion and developed drop foot. It improved but suddenly got worse just yesterday. What can I do? Is this permanent?
