Here's a coaching conversation that took place during a live coaching practice session. The coach Deepa is coaching the client Archana for the very first time in the presence of 30+ ICF-trained/accredited coaches.
Deepa, After a long prelude, question on how do you know you have achieved what you wanted, should have moved towards identifying DO. I deal question might be to ask what do you want to focus in the session today. after another round of her dialogue the question above would have been appropriate
when the client again went on different story in a longer way after focused question, as coach Deepa should have repeated her question and ask her to summaries in one or two sentence what she wants to focus in the session.. until 22 minutes no agreement happened what she wanted in the session. its coach's responsibility to bring back the client into focused narration
