Love these Deeper Podcast! Two thoughts that have helped me going through these verses in Genesis. First, borrowed from Tim Mackie, the design pattern connection between “she took and ate” in Genesis 3 and “they took as their wives” in Genesis 6. As you have talked about both rebellions. Second, regarding guarding our hearts and minds from extremes while handling these perplexing passages, I do like what Louis Markos points out in his article “There’s a Cosmic Battle Going On. Join the Fight.” that even though The Silmarillion was not Tolkien main story, it did provide the backstory, or context for his main story in The Lord of the Rings. Likewise, the Bible is a story of Redemption, but with the backstory of this other rebellion, it doesn’t diminish but enhances the cosmic-ness of Christ life, death, and resurrection!

I find it amazing that angels in heaven also have a genetic code - angels have heavenly DNA!

Utter foolishness. Angels cannot procreate. In Luke we are told Adam was a son of God. This is wonderful display of terrible hermeneutics.

Isn’t Mt Herman (sp?) where the 1/3 of the angels that were cast out Heaven landed? Sincere question

That's just folkore from 1 Enoch which is Bible contradicting folklore from centuries, if not millennia, after the Torah: see the book, "In Consideration of the Book(s) of Enoch."

@29:57: Humans lost dominion of the earth when they sinned against God at the garden of Eden. This is why God said in Psalms that Jesus will now sit on the Divine Counsel as he has taken back dominion of heaven and earth. Dominion was taken from humans, and then given to the Son's of God to at the Tower of Babel for them to care for the nations until all the nations are brought back into the family. Jesus dying at the cross bridged that gap, and now all Christians are adopted into the family of Israel, we are Israel.

Love these conversations! In regard to female angels... what do you make of Zechariah 5? I have always thought it to reference a female type of angel with the wings of a stork, but that's the only reference I have seen to there maybe being female angels.

Those aren't Angels. That was a wholly visionary scenario. Angels are always described as looking like human males, performing physical actions, and without indication that such isn’t their ontology.

There is a spiritual effect I once used called a ripple effect. Like a rock hitting the water causes a wave till it hits the land and the wave causes the original effect.
