This is a 3+ mile HIKE (One Way) with no trail. This is a narrow canyon that is 900' to 1000' deep in the section of this hike. There are several boulder fields that need to be negotiated or passed by climbing up the side of the canyon. There are erosion caves, multiple rock formations, streams, pools, Autumn colors. This canyon was hiked on December 1, 2023.

Marvelous canyon. I had been down that road after the fire and flood but had not hiked thru the wash. Maybe someday. Thank you for sharing.

Great video, always nice to see some fall colors in the desert! I finally got to hike in this general area -- I'm usually roaming around other areas of the Supes-- but I can't wait to explore this spot further. Thanks for posting!

This was amazing!! Thank you!! This reminds me of a time I hiked the headwaters of the verde with my son. Below Sullivan dam. Up in Yavapai county. Most of the boulders down there were bigger than houses. Hard to navigate for sure. Just like this hike. Thanks for sharing!! Loved it!!!!👍👍

The boys and I did that all more than a month ago. We turned around right about where you did . If I remember correctly, maybe another 3/4 or maybe a mile, there are some ruins up on the right side of the canyon. We checked them out in the 80s. I was a lot younger then and didn’t have a pacemaker! Hardest part of this hike is the loooongass uphill at the end to the parking lot! Up the road, before the parking lot to the north, have you ever hiked around there? Can’t remember the name of the canyon, but it goes all the way to the river between Canyon and Apache Lakes. We’re prolly gonna do that hat one in the spring. Keep hoping we run into you on a hike sometime. Be safe and Happy Hiking!

Amazing places we have in AZ. This place was on my list of places to explore. I'm starting to think it should be higher on the list. If they ever start clearing that road, this will be inaccessible for a while.

I shot a whitetail deer years ago back in the wilderness area, while gutting the buck, I heard voices and walked maybe 30-40 years I looked over the edge and saw the bridge on fish creek hill road and people had stopped there and were talking! And I thought I was miles from any people.

I need to get up that canyon! So cool. Would it be a good idea to backpack overnight up there? Looks like there’s some water a little further up there.

There was plenty of water this year. I wanted to go further down the canyon, but was moving too slow. I would backpack if I were going further. Good luck, it’s beautiful

I used to drive this trail plenty of times. I kept wondering if they would reopen it to cars and after seeing your video I'm gonna safely assume that its not gonna happen.

I ended up doing this one on Saturday. Pretty amazing canyon and perfect time year to do it. I went up about 2 miles. I wanted to go further but I was getting tired and I was solo. I’m not sure how far up you guys went. But I saw you footprints here and there. And the scat. I also saw a dead falcon which was weird. Not eaten or anything. I turned around where a sort of steep tributary cane in river left and above it there was a cool hoodoo looking rock. Did you guys go further than that? At the end you were talking about a tributary coming in…did that come in from river right? If you have AllTrails you can see my activity. I’m planning on looping it same time next year staying one night starting at JF and then dropping in. Thanks for the video and tips!

The tributary came in river left where we stopped. It was relatively steep, but there were so many pinnacles and chimneys that I don't remember if there was a specific Hoodoo at that tributary. The area we stopped was more open than the balance of the canyon. I wanted to go in further as well, but was disappointed in how slow we were moving. Hope you are able to go further next time.

Is there a name to this trail? I would like to do some research and possibly check it out. Loved the views. Thanks for taking us along.

No name, just take Apache Trail out of Apache Junction as far as it goes. Road is closed, park there and follow the closed road down to Fishing Bridge. The starting point into the Canyon is quite obvious.
