(8/2/24) Little One and Biscuit attempt (very cautiously) to have a reconciliation with Mother, who is Little One’s mother and Grandmother to Biscuit. But it doesn’t work out. I can’t understand deer social behavior when it comes to this kind of thing. I would think Mother would be delighted with her daughter’s first fawn, but it just doesn’t work that way in the deer world. She has some moments of quiet closeness to Biscuit but then she gets cranky. I feel bad for Little One in this regard. She’s had to deal repeatedly with being rejected by her mother and then embraced, only to be rejected again. Now she sees her first fawn rejected. Biscuit still tries though. I hold out hope that this might change at some point but I’m not so sure that it will. You would think that all the deer would embrace the fawns and have a great time together, but it doesn’t work that way. Sometimes they make an effort and it goes well, but then it’s back to this weird animosity. Even the fawns do this with each other. I’m really wondering how this whole thing is going to work out. 🌿🌝🦌
