I have two pear trees, the deer come to my yard every night, to help clean up the pears that fall from the tree. I greatly appreciate it, there are a lot of pears and more than enough for them and us😊
The way I had it explained to me is that all mammals have the same number of bones in their arms/legs but they can vary greatly in length. The backwards bending joint about halfway up the deer's back legs is the same joint that on a human would be an ankle. So their hooves are the equivalent of the tips of a human's toes and they're basically walking like ballet dancers.
@@kennethbaker5223 you're right, there's nothing more irresponsible then attracting Deer to the roadside. people that think that's cute are the same people that want to pet bears when they see them in the wild
@@ZiggyTheAdventurer Very true. Wildlife experts will tell you that when animals in the wild lose their natural fear of man, they are at much higher risk.
Leave the dog where it is, do not feed the wildlife, but at least they're keeping the deer as far away as possible. Feeding wildlife can get them killed.
@@vickywhitesell7482 yea you do what you want the rest of us have different ideas, who wants to listen to all the bull crap about what you must and must not do!
Another channel put a small pile of apples, pears and cut up bananas in the woods in view of a game camera. The deer loved the pears and apples. I think they ignored the bananas. 🦌
I live in the mountains and I throw out any old vegetables. The deer know to check the spot behind my house everyday. Usually they check it multiple times a day. Their eye sight is not very good. If I roll a tomato down the hill towards them they can see it moving but if it goes past them they completely lose it and have to search for it with their nose. It will take them 10 minutes to find it. Also, I have a 1 gallon bucket on the side of the house full of water for them because the closest water source is about 1/4 mile away. I have to fill it twice a day in summer. For some reason the water bucket was getting knocked over. I thought it was a skunk but one day I heard it get knocked over so I ran out to look and it was a big six point buck. I had the bucket next to the house so he couldn't get to the water because of his big rack so he had to knock it over to get any water. So now I put the water bucket out a few feet from the house.
You are so kind! I am in a large neighborhood that was built in a forest. Most of the yards, including mine, are very wooded. The largest buck I have ever seen was across the stream in my backyard neighbor’s yard grazing in their sideyard. I was upset to think that he was so hungry that he risked coming into a busy neighborhood in the daytime to feed. I spent the next two days searching online for food that I could afford to put out for him. When I told a friend, he laughed and explained that the big bucks got that way because they are smart. They come into the neighborhood to escape the hunters! I had two does and a young fawn choose my yard to graze in the back. I was thrilled! I’ve been here two years and am making it as wildlife friendly as possible. I have four large piles of branches and sticks. I saw a 6’ black snake; a red tail hawk flew through the yard in front of me with a mouse in his talons! I put up a bird feeder and the same quality bird food is in it two years later. I have seen one robin and two crows. I did purchase 300 pounds of different kinds of birdseed to put out this winter. I am determined to lure birds to my yard! 😊
@@merk9569Good luck with the birds. How exciting to be able to enjoy the wildlife. When I was a kid we had a black racer come thru our yard. I also saw a copperhead in the sewer, but I think it was dead. 😊😊😊
I'm that 6-point Buck (actually, I'm up to 8-points, but I digress), and want to thank you for the drink. In fact, if you're a Doe, I'd like to take you out for one on me. Whatcha doing Saturday night? If you're not a Doe, what's your sister doing Saturday night? 🙃😇
That’s so lovely, so good to find out why the water bucket was being knocked over. I leave water out for all the birds on my property all year round, and right now in spring and summer and often into Autumn I have to fill it twice a day.
My back yard has a 5ft chain-link fence around it and recently a momma deer and her two fawns have been visiting. What's funny is the momma will jump the fence and graze peacefully all the while the fawns are running and playing with each other on the other side of the fence. Momma will keep an eye on them but you can just tell she is enjoying her "alone" time with out the little ones constantly pestering her. Even deer need a mother's day out every once in awhile.
Easy to tell u guys are Washingtonians!! Respect for wildlife is becoming a lost cause, sadly……. Great video, it made me smile……. I don’t smile much. Thanks for sharing
Strange this popped up in my feed, but I had venison with rice the other night along with sliced apples and watermelon for dessert. I think my phone is spying on me.
Maybe place several apples in a safe spot, in the woods across the street, just before dusk, it looks dangerous there with all the cars to make them cross.
We have an apple tree in our back yard, and as soon as the apples show we have deer- some years more than others. This year a doe and two fawns were here about every day. We have four dogs that have seen so many deer, that they go outside unleashed, look at the deer and could care less.
Humans harm wild animals and their natural way of life in so many different ways… but giving them some food or water is where so many people draw the line lol
It's cost just as many humans THEIR lives. 🤣 - A Random Grizzly Bear/Yellowstone Bison/Gorilla/You Name It. Animals eat animals, and we humans are animals, too. 🤷♀
Wow that's incredible I used to have deer come to my property in Massachusetts but then they suddenly stopped when I started living part time in London
My Jack Russel thinks Great Danes are deer and he would actually nip every one he met! This is because he love chasing the deer out of our yard but never can catch one! His big sister, a pitty, says I want no part of those large animals, they are all yours! Funny thing the Jack has arthritis and normally can’t run fast or jump high, but when chasing deer he’s runs like a Jack rabbit and easily clears the stone walls surrounding our property!
Thank you for your comment! Our cat is a six-year-old female Flame Point Siamese, and our dog is a three-year-old female Norwegian Elkhound. I have lots of videos of both pets on my channel, if you are interested in watching. :-)
thanks for sharing. We feed about 14-17 deer nightly. Even our dog sits at the bench and watches. It makes our evening. A 50lb bag of corn usually lasts about 5 days.
