"Three old dears" - very good, my daughter and I loved that. It was indeed 'Fenton' who of course chased the deer just down the road in Henry VIII's other favourite haunt, Richmond Park. Very different wicket to last year when it was bouncy if I remember rightly. Hope Jallen's hamstring heals quickly.

Doh, a deer, a female deer. I remember that from The Simpsons back in the 90's. Way to go Jallen, I still have my cricket ball from my first 5 wicket hall over 20 years ago. I have seen Tyler get out the same way on other videos, maybe time top get rid of that reverse sweep.

One of the glorious beautiful things about cricket is travelling to places with character and wildlife nature. Hampton are so lucky and privileged to have deer drop in like that.

Totally agree - I’ve been to or played at other grounds in Bushy Park, but never at Hampton Hill until yesterday. It was a delight - and a really nice bunch too! The deer was icing on the cake, though I was saddened to hear that many are being shot right now in order to keep the numbers down!!!

Amazed as always Dan. I have a plan if anyone from Hollywood is watching. Cricket in a safari park. Maybe Woburn or longleat. Would speed up the Over rate, make fielders think twice about retrieving the ball from long grass and natural wastage, should some older members get devoured by lions. Add to that the flight path to Heathrow and we have a beautiful sound track. Shame to seethe season coming to an end. Thank you for brightening up Sunday mornings Dan.

I don't remember the cricket pitches; I used to be taken to the "lakes" where my Dad sailed his model motor boat and I, later, sailed my model sail boat. There were rugby pitches nearby, and the car park... This was 50 years ago. I do remember, I think, that the venison from the culled deer would go to the kitchens at Hampton Court and Windsor.

Yes the lakes are in a separate part of this very large park. There are a few cricket pitches.

Seems it isn’t as bad as it looked - he’s hobbling around without crutches and while he probs won’t play cricket again this season, he will be on the golf course pretty soon.

So many wickets lost pretty much every week through what seem, from the highlights, to often be unnecessary loose aerial shots. Leaves an ex cricketer like me (who liked a good aerial) frustrated for you. So many starts (not just this week) then a loose aerial and out. A stat on mode of Sanderstead dismissals relative to mode of wickets gained by Sanderstead would be illuminating.

Thanks Bob - a definite end of term feeling as we can’t really do anything other than stay at 7th, so it’s tough to be as motivated as teams who are having to win for their very survival. That said, we were poor in the field (Jallen and Jawwad excepted) and were chasing a target that was too much given the heart that Hampton Hill put into their bowling and fielding - hats off to them, and I hope they win the last game and stay up, they are a really nice bunch and very good club.

I didn’t hear of anything, and I doubt there would be any special rules for hitting a moving target - trees with special rules are quite common

I played a lot of winter Cricket here in Aus. Whenever we lost big clumps of wickets, we always called it 'consolidating'. We were good at consolidating.

Injuries and holidays mainly - plus we are in a league position that cannot change, so the last couple of games are inconsequential meaning some of the family guys can skip a match.
