Agar Rajesh Khanna ye film karte to Vijay ka character nahi nibha paate. Movie flop ho jati. Amitabh ke aankhon se jo expressions zalakte hai wo intensity Rajesh me nahi thi. Amitabh ke sath kisiki bhi comparison nahi ho sakti. Aaj bhi Amitabh ke dialogues yaad karta hu to rongte khade ho jate hai. What a masterpiece !

This film is a revolution in INDIAN cinema. INDIAN cinema never saw such intense action movie before this one. DILIP KUMAR, DEV ANAND, RAJ KAPOOR, RAJESH KHANNA are definitely great icons of INDIAN cinema but in terms of versatility no one even comes closer to AMITABH BACCHAN. The only actor who did this after AMITABH BACCHAN is SRK.

@@shettyshetty1412 It is good to admire someone. But to be a blind fan is illogical. RAJESH KHANNA was undoubtedly a versatile actor. But even who watch very less movies know that he was worst in action. And RAJESH KHANNA in disco dance is really a joke. Surely in ROMANCE he was ahead than AMITABH BACCHAN. But the point is that AMITABH BACCHAN's acting range is so much spread that he can easily cover up the lack of romantic movies. He started with action movies like ZANJEER, DEEWAAR, TRISHUL, DON and then moved on to commedies like NAMAK HAALAL, CHUPKE CHUPKE, AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY and on his second innings he moved to character roles like MOHABBATEIN, BLACK, AANKHEN, BAGHBAAN, PINK and many others. But RAJESH KHANNA was mostly stuck to romance. apart from 1 or 2 movies like ANAND, BAAWARCHI where he was outstanding. The point is that RAJESH KHANNA did not updated himself as per the changes and AMITABH BACCHAN did. That is why AMITABH BACCHAN'S sucess going on for more than 50 years and RAJESH KHANNA lasted for 6 years only. Yes, the stardum that he achieved in those 6 years is uncomparable. So, RAJESH KHANNA probably reached the maximum level of stardum But that was for short time. AMITABH BACCHAN might not have reached stardum of that level but his stardum stayed for much longer among different types of audiences because of his wide range of acting.. Also, AMIABH BACCHAN is much more disciplined and humble as a person compared to RAJESH KHANNA. Inspite of the fact that RAJESH KHANNA insulted him several times, still he showed respect for RAJESH KHANNA after his death. But RAJESH KHANNA will always be memorable in INDIAN cinema.

@@Sudipta-hq3wy Absolutly true. Noone can deny versalitility of MR. BACCHAN. But after MR. BACCHAN the most versatile actor who came is SRK. Starting from negative roles in BAAZIGAR, DARR, ANJAAM, then shifting to romantic characters like DDLJ, DIL TO PAGAL HAI, KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI, MOHABBATIEN, KAL HO NA HO, PARDES and then moving on to action roles like DON, DON 2, RA.ONE, RAEES, PATHAAN. And in between he also did intense characters like FAN, SWADES, CHAK DE INDIA, MY NAME IN KHAN where he gave performance of a lifetime. If BACCHAN did good in romance then SRK also did great in action. But I truly believe both are living legend.
Abhisar ji...looks like you are a hardcore fan of AB like me. Although Deewar was inspired by other movies, but the recipe of Deewar was excellently scripted by Saleem Javed ji and the best screenplay ever combined with yash raj ji ka direction. ❤
Me to have same opinion, he is saying that no one can do amitab bachan role in deewaar, according to me amitab bachan was a below average actor during his prime, mostly expressionless in every scene, he only started improving his acting post stardom, when he started doing character roles. It was sunny deol who shown to bollywood how to act in angry young man character.

That's true but intensity of Amitabh 's expressions and parallaly depth of his voice along with the accents is very unique. So personally I feel Amitabh is greater than Dilipsahab. Infact I am also huge fan of Dilip Kumar ji.
Infact I like Amitabh in Shakti. Despite having negative shade to Amitabh 's role his attitude was mind-blowing. Remember the scene when Rakhi dies, Amitabh 's expressions and his impact was beyond the expectations.
rajesh khanna ke bas ki baat nahi thee yeh film - khaas taur pe intense dialogue delivery and facial expressions, even shashi kapoor ka role bhi i dont think ke navin nishchol nibha sakte the - woh bade buzurg kehte hain ke uparwaala jo bhi karta hai acha hi karta hai- agar yadi yeh film amitabh ke elaava koyi actor ke saath banti toh mere khayaal mein itni kaamyaab nahi hoti- so we as fans should be thankful and even yash chopra and SJ should be thankful to god that they chose amit and shashi for this film and as they say rest is history.

Superstarship of Rajesh khanna and Shahrukh was a fluke. People attracted towards these two actors just because of their styles not their acting......and when people got bored of their repetitive styles, they both went down permanently where as Amitabh Bacchan is superstar because of his intense and deep acting which made him longest living superstar
You captured a lot of the Deewar "lore", details in and around the film that people discussed passionately at that time and remember fondly even today. Some others are Dilip Kumar's Footpath being an influence, Amitabh's knotted shirt becoming a fashion, the recurring motif of the 786 badge, the way he tosses Madan Puri out of the penthouse window, perhaps Amitabh's best running sequence - elegant as a cheetah, pulse-pounding and heartbreaking - at the end before he's shot by Shashi Kapoor and many more. On the Dilip Kumar vs. Amitabh comparison, I don't have a definitive assessment to offer, but here are some observations I have not seen others make: 1. DK was clearly an enormous influence on Amitabh, which the latter acknowledges often, but despite this the nature and breadth of the influence remains a severely under-explored topic. When interviewed on this subject, Amitabh only ever mentions Gunga Jumna, maybe because of an "anxiety of influence", and interviewers have failed to question further and dig deeper. I feel many other DK films and performances are part of Amitabh's DNA as actor. 2. Something that has not received much attention is that Amitabh took a lot from DK's dignified offscreen demeanor and polished way of speaking. DK always spoke beautifully in English and Hindi/Urdu in interviews and Amitabh emulates him in this regard even if not at the same level as DK. 4. There is a big social and cultural shift between the DK and AB eras, with the former being genteel, polished, softer, domestic, romantic and the latter being populist, angry, violent, aimed at all classes of audiences, with romance no longer being central the way it typically is in Hindi cinema. Based on which of these two descriptions fits you better, one can predict which actor you prefer.
