Omnipresent TLDR: Putting your ships together makes it easier for them to kill them all off, and makes them less effective. By putting 6 ships in one fleet together, you’re decreasing the mobility and range of your navy. If you have 6 battleships all clumped together engaging a fleet of carriers and battleships, you will probably lose. If you split up those battleships into groups of 3 with carriers, you can flank the enemy fleet, split them up to cover more ground and reveal enemy locations through radar, etc.
This was the most disturbing game I ever played. I think they should make kids play this in school so they can understand how impractical WW3 would be.
A lot of people want war after playing FPS games (like COD, BF, etc.) then I recommend them this game... WW3 would be very impractical indeed. You're not a "king" if you don't have nothing to rule on.
Welcome to real life mate. Every minute you live, might just be your last 15 minutes in this modern civilisation. All it takes is one error in Russia or the USA and you're playing Fallout in real life. And computer errors are more common than you think. From the top of my head, the USA has at least almost started three nuclear wars thanks to human and computer errors.
DragonNexus Fun fact, america is using floppy discs to control the computers that launch the nukes. And numerous times has a plane or a silo almost blown america with nukes.
Controversy in this game, has been taken to such a high level, that I'm not able to play it. I've played terribly explicitly violent games, of all kinds. But this, gives me the fucking creeps and scares the shit out of me. This "game" is not a game at all
+thesantiso I kind of think that was the point of this game. People love reducing war to a game like call of duty but this game showed how fucked up war actually is.
The secret of this game is to play defensive first, use all resources to not get hit, then counter when enemy defenses are down and you know where their silos are.
You are right.. but even though the game makes it's point, there is just something about it, that just pulls you towards playing more. Also, playing with friends doesn't do the game justice. Unless you two can't hear each other. If you were able to hear each other, the game would lose it's purpose and charm.
Strange how the game is played as whole continents. They should have options to play as coalitions like NATO, the Warsaw Pact, the EU or the Arab League. And as individual countries, which was somewhat achieved with the U.S. and Russia.
You guys already know me, you KNOW I had precious few games, in fact there are save a precious few that I don't love... ..BUT THIS GAME IS A REALLY DISTURBING concept! Kind of really creepy!
@4m30s the use of the ICBMs from the submarines was appalling! The two enemy silos should have been taken out first. Watch how many of the submarine ICBMs are wasted...
I'm going to try it on my acer iconia 8" windows 8 tablet and see if it's playable. I haven't played yet at all. Looks like in it's current form it's entirely dependent on mouse clicks. Guess I'll find out.
In the cold war there was no such thing as Europe as a side, because Europe was divided into 2 part, the east controlled by the USSR and the west by the USA.
Where can I download this mod please because I cant get (from Introversions homepage) the unofficial modlist ( Iwould very much appreciate access to that list too if possible please) Yes its been a while since I played - I reinstalled Defcon recently
who really cares about the graphics? the strategy is really in depth, and the best outcome possible involves the use of a complicated math concept called Game Theory, and you use it even if you don't realize it. in short, welcome to the Cold War...
You played this rather unprofessionally. I mean I know this isn't professional gameplay but you really made mistakes like not launching some bombers and spreading your nukes badly.
Defcon is a HURT'N game, thats not worth two pennies... AND WE DONT MAKE PENNIES IN CANADA ANYMORE!!! XD if it was 100% free i would consider playing. But no no, no introversion and steam think that 2D bullshit is worth money, mean wile full 3D, full online, FULLY FREE games like War Thunder are out there and much more worthy of investing money in to if you so desire. but its up to you, u dont have to pay to play the full game, unlike defcon bullshit here.
