@@dylanmcshane9976 Fellow 33 year old. I haven't played this game in a couple years. I love triple triad, and just "abusing" the card games is the only way to get overpowered in the game haha. Idk why ppl criticize it. Lowkey the developers intended it to be played this way, to enjoy the story and strategize by grinding. It's such a good story idc what anybody says. Still my fav game of all time.
4:20 - I'd make a little amendment there. It's better to spread your GFs over all your characters rather than give them all to Seifer. They still get EXP and AP when Junctioned to KO'd characters, but that EXP is divided if they're all Junctioned to one character. You want them to level up because Ifrit and Shiva can learn Ammo-RF and Doom once they're at level 10.
One-shotting boss battles lol. Some people don't understand and ask "What's the point of being so overpowered" The answer: Triple Triad is fun as hell, and if collecting cards can make me OP why not? It's more enjoyable to challenge different players and collect cards than to run around spamming random encounters for levels.
Thanks. Actually been a while i played the game and i wondered how it i could get 50 AP every battle. The only comment i have on this video is that you do not have to run away in the first battle after you beat it down. The strategy for the second battle you show works just as well in the first battle. Because i remembered that in every battle with the X-ATMO92 i scored 50AP,including the first one right out of the tower where it hangs, then drops down.
some typos and junk here and there but all in all this was a great video. i loved the picture of seifer blasting the two soldiers on AP method 2. just looks badass af
Pause in 3:41 It tells you all you need to do. Learn Str+20/40% from Ifrit. And the strongest magic you can get at this point is Thundaga and Tornado, which you can get from refining Blitz Cards and Abyss Worm Cards respectively. But in order to do that you must learn Card Mod and T Mag-RF from Quetzacoatl.
This is not exact! Thundaga isnt the most powerful magic at this moment of the game,Tornado neither. I dont know the name in english but in french its Fournaise
Oh well I am already on disc two now, and I realized that the magic junctioned to your attack damage is based on the type and amount. So if you have thundaga junctioned its damage will differ depending on the opponent and how much thundaga you have in stock. To reap the full benefit from the amount you need 100 thundagas in stock. I didnt know this before.
Marie-Christine Lachance Sorry lol. I'm playing it too, still in disc one. Playing cards a whole lot. Looking at this guide, I think I can improve it with some annotations.
do you know anyone with a good tutorial on how to pass the open rule and abolish all other rules for every region? I tried doing it once but it was so complicated. I want to have only the open rule and abolish all others, little pet peeve of mine.
+WarriorTC04 Basically, everytime you go to a different region they will ask you if you want to mix rules. To avoid mixing new rules, just keep declining until they just ask to play cards. Every time you accept to mix rules, you have the chance of 1) Mixing a rule from the previous region you were in 2) Nothing happens 3) A rule is abolished. So you have to do a lot of saving and quitting to get what you want. Abolishing a rule is rare to happen, but there are some tricks to make it easier. To spread the open rule, make sure the last place you played cards in was Balamb, since they carry the open rule. I would strongly suggest to abolish Random, before spreading Open. That way there are less rules active, and more chances that Random is abolished instead of another rule. To abolish rules I suggest try manipulating the RNG. Just google "Abolishing card rules RNG" there is a helpful topic on gamefaqs.
Great video. I started ff8 again last weekend and im currently at this point Refind abbys worm and blits into 100 I get i do tornado to strength but what do i junction thundaga too ? Also i got the punishment sword wich is supossed to be stronger than your flame saber. Yet i do nowhere near the damage you give the robot in 1 hit. Its about 1200/1400 with me, meaning he will always repair himself to 100% Its bein a while since you uploaded the video, but if you could explain this to me i would reallyappreciate it Thanks
You need: x1 Betrayal Sword, x1 Turtle Shell, x4 Screws. Learn the Card Mod ability with Quezacotl and then refine them from the cards shown at 5:01 which means you need a total of: x3 Adamantoise Card x1 Forbidden Card x1 Geezer Card You don't actually need to have weapons monthly to refine ANY weapon. As long as you have the necessary items it will be available at the weapon shop.
Not that it's really necessary, but you're also able to get 50 ap from the first encounter. I downed him, then did about his health worth in damage before he stood back up, he stood up and i downed him again and ran away with 50ap.
Very nice done tutorial, thanks man! Will come in handy next time ;) Do you think this is a bug or intended, to reward players that are not able to kill it?
+Grievance87 Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. It was intended by the developers, because you miss out on the quistis cutscene. I don't think it's intended to reward players that are not able to kill it, because usually most players can't, and most players run away the first chance. If he gets back up, you put him down before he regenrates, so you need to do serious damage. So it actually rewards players who are able to kill it. Some people argue it's pointless to do, because you must have already farmed a decent amount to be able to do this effortlessly (like in the video) But don';t forget you have a newly acquired GF Siren! And just some other skills on the early GFs. Personally, I prefer watching the quistis cutscene. But I replay this game quite often, so I'm always trying to see or do new things I haven't before :)
L3ONARDO07 I´d think most people would have their gf running while it repairs? So the extra damage would help to cause the effect (and it needs time to run away). But I guess you´re right, as that wouldn´t be enough damage most of the time. Also I really like this cutscene, so the reward is pretty nice^^ Well, all you need is like 160 (or 180?) ap to do this, and some triple triad. As I like grinding early game and playing triple triad it´s not that big of a deal ;) I like to try new things too, I read many things about ff8, but the spider-farming is new to me, so next thing will be no lvl + spiderfarming + meteor wing, maybe Quistis instead... we´ll see :) I really love how you discover new things in this game every time you play it, one reason why it´s my favorite :) Thanks again, greetings from Germany
+Grievance87 Thank you, I've just played this game too many times. But like you, I can't say I know it like the back of my hand because I always learn new things every time or pay more attention to dialogue. Speaking of the no level challenge, I don't know if it's 100% possible. I tried it once and gained like 2 levels with different characters. There are a few forced battles that give you EXP, one of them is one of the students at the garden. You can either defend them (gain EXP) or watch them die (no EXP) I know it's just a game, but I couldn't bring myself to that lol. It's just sad haha About Seifer. I see him like Draco Malfoy from harry potter. They have no redeeming qualities, and there's nothing to like about them. Sometimes villains or rivals, have a good backstory and makes you sympathize with them. But Seifer is just a selfish immature brat in my opinion. BUT he is a good person at heart. I think he looked up to Edea as a mother, and probably recognized her from when he was a kid. Maybe he thought he was doing a good thing? Sorry if that's not the answer you were hoping for.
@@L3ONARDO07 Haha, I´m back again ;), as I forgot about this method and stumbled across it again. I found a little "mistake" in the video: you can only upgrade your weapon by leveling (maybe Quistis if you don´t intend to use her) before fighting X-AMT092, as otherwise you´ll get the refine-cards-ability after having access to a junkshop. I mean you can learn all GF-abilities you want with Seifer, but then it´s too late to upgrade your weapon before the mentioned fight. And regarding Seifer: it seems he needs not only attention but praise, which should be in context to loosing his parents/why he got to the orphanage. Since then it´s the mother figures he can´t resist, so he was never able to overcome himself, that loss must have been too big. You know, there´s always reasons why you´re selfish/social etc., and for me Seifer has the saddest story because of that. Squall got reflection of himself through his friends and especially Rinoa, but Seifer does not seem to. I mean are you able to act out of your role? That´s why I was asking 4 years ago, dunno why I didn´t answer. Sorry for bad english btw., I hope you get my thoughts. The last passage of your comment is exactly that. He was not able to think about right or wrong, because he needed the love so bad while just being manipulated and used. Cheers buddy
I don't know what's wrong. I brought it down twice in one battle like you said, and I did it in two separate battles with him, still didn't get the 50 ap. :/
anyone knows how to get card ability without getting exp before the dollet test? 20ap can be obtained by defeating Ifrit, the problem is the remaing ap
i read some coment on other websites about we can ignore this because you will have Diablos. later with much better skill. so do we really need this Trick stills? is it worth the time? i have been back from playing ffviii for long long time with this remasterd, kinda forget everything. thanks
puttha sangkla Diablos has some of the best skills in the game, like mug, no encounters, magic refining skills. And you get him when you return to balam. That’s one way to look at it, he misses out on all the AP points. But in that case why farm AP at all until you get most of them? Doesn’t make much sense to me. However I will say ff8 is an easy game, and there’s very little reason to get strong early in the game. I just think it’s fun. I see it as a reward from playing card games a lot. Otherwise why play triple triad at all.
Can you walk me through this process step by step, in regards to the earning ap? The seifer trick works solely to obtain the mods and use the cards to give yourself a buff, but where did you remodel the gunblade? As far as I'm concerned there's no junk shop at that spot of the beach, so how were you able to craft the new blade?
I got it in balamb. In this part of my walkthrough I show which cards I refine to obtain it. jump to 4:10 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qxpPZ9d1B2s.html
The sword - you need the elementary attack coupled with blizzard or better, upgrading your power with magic is required (which means you need all G.F. coupled with one character only), and good magic for uprading your power the best you could.
Why using Flame Sabre when you can easily craft Punishment? You most likely gain all the required cards while farming Abyss-Worm and Blitz Cards.... I mean, sure it's no big difference... but still
I don't think the retreat penalty counts with forced retreats. But even then running a perfect game is not the same as beating the game with no exp gajn
wtf how long did it take to farm enough ap to get card, card mod, and ifrit 20%/40%. im going through the game like normal without grinding and this shit seems so impossible to do unless i would grind on those military guys or mobs in flame caverns for like 200 battles
L3ONARDO07 I've gotten 50AP from the FIRST fight in the past. I'm not sure what was required for said result, I was trying to do this technique but didn't understand it, ended up fighting the thing for like 15 minutes waiting for him to stay down. Eventually I gave up and ran, and I got 50AP. I guess I just happened to leave after completing a repair interrupt cycle?
TheFounderUtopia I'm not sure, it's been a long time I have tried this. Going to start a new play-through soon, but I don't like missing out on the Quistis cut-scene lol. I'll make multiple saves to experiment
L3ONARDO07 I managed to do it again. It's basically the same thing you do in the video, but it can be done on the first fight too. I just bring it down over and over until Selphie says "No more", then hit it hard enough to interrupt its repair cycle before knocking it down one final time and running off. It wasn't easy, I only had basic levels (no flame saber) and SumMag+10% on Ques, barely enough to stun it. You can exploit Zell's limit break to hit the thing basically indefinitely to achieve the interrupt, but the lost time kills your mission score.
How the heck are you doing so much damage each it? I have the same blade, both strength boosts, and thunder junctioned to my attack and I only do max 575 per hit with a trigger technique. I just dont get what I am missing at this point?
Actually even without the magazine if you have the required items the weapon will show up in shops. Doing it ow on the FF8 remaster and got myself the punishment weapon and haven't left for Dollet yet
Jamie Fulton Same here Never got into triple triad on my other playthroughs, but I did for this, and while it’s tedious, it’s very rewarding considering the items and subsequent equipment you can get so early in the game Beat the elnoyle and x-atm092 in dollet with the punishment and I’m heading back to the garden with zell’s gauntlet and selphie’s crescent wish without any weapons magazines
