This is a lovely job, are you still taking these on? The 200tdi in my bobtailed Discovery is worn out and was frankly underpowered to begin with, I would very much like a good (if not completely rebuilt) 4.0 Thor V8 to be fitted with a 4-speed automatic and a standalone Tornado-chipped ECU like you showed here. The Disco is no show truck so doesn't fit with some of the shiny rebuilds. Is it worth me emailing or calling to discuss?

Nice conversion. Please don't do a Puma/TDCi conversion video as I don't think I can afford it and as you're only 15 miles away the temptation would be too great!!
Thanks. Even better have your conversion featured lol!! Puma dash is the harder part to sort though as its modern stepper motors driving the gauges. Its all manageable but added expenses.
@@CB-et9dm Yes I heard there was a device to control then however from experience its all a test until you have seen it working for the first time in front of you. Yes I'm not sure where emissions would need to sit. This conversion was very clean 0.04 CO% and 60 HC at idle with lambda 1+/- 0.03 and even cleaner at fast idle test!!
There is no straight forward fit and job done fuel pump. With a conversion like this there is always more than one thing that needs modifying with most steps of the conversion. The Gems P38 pump physically fitted however needed moding to work correctly
The Rover 4.6 liter crank shaft will fit in place of the 4.0 liter crank however requires the 4.6 rods to work correctly and can then use either the 4.6 or 4.0 liter pistons depending on what CR you are aiming for.
We have never dyno'ed this engine build spec as the actual figures have never been important to a customer. Its about having the right feel to it at the end of the day, that being, instant throttle pickup at any rpm with any amount of throttle. I would estimate torque to be around 300lb/ft as is the norm for a 4.6 and bhp most likely around 260 ish as the cam choice is designed for a nice driving engine, not peak bhp figures.
@@wjthehomebuilder It all depends on cam and head choice really. 300 can be done with still a nice idle etc but it does drop off the torque curve in the lower rpm so not ideally suited to a Land Rover. Forget about smooth idles etc move the power band further up the rev range and 300 to 350 can be done but thats not the style of engine we build, 99% of our customer base wants a well manered engine in the whole rev range. Go forced induction and 350+ is an easy reach however then you start to get into where your weakest link is, auto gearbox, pistons etc.
