Bought a 200TDI 110. Very similar chassis. I’m having to repair all 4 out riggers and the front complete section. Aim to get a few years out the chassis before saving some pennies for a Galv chassis. Plus it’s experience gained!
If you get all of the rust removed and treat it inside and out then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t get 20+ years out of the chassis. People tend to replace them when they have lots of life left in them. Good luck with your build.
Hi I’ve got a 1993 defender that I’m doing the chassis and bulk head and the bulk heads not even that bad at all a lot better than that one the passenger side foot well has gone that the main bit I need a rear door maybe we could sort a deal out ?
dont put a puma bonnet on when its not a puma there is just no need keep it looking rite with the correct bonnet i build these things and your a braver man than me i wouldnt even atempt to fix that chassis i would of stuck a brand new marsland under it for a start ,all my defenders have been ex army and chassis were in next to new condition once blasted no welding what so ever.
Hi, I quite like the puma bonnet vs the original so it’s down to preference and of course cost, the marshland chassis are £3200 plus shipping so I’ll look to repair before I replace and as all of my time is free then that’s how I’ll go. To be honest I’ve repaired a lot worse (not on a land Rover) plus I enjoy it it’s part of the fun! Thanks for the comment take care.
I've got a classic chassis sitting there had to do few repairs on that ,putting out riggers on it to use defender bulkhead etc turning it into a double cab for my daughter that should be interesting once I've finnished a 110 county 300 TDI auto all the fun of defenders @@paulhartshorne9085
