"This game is full of bugs" Under any other circumstances, that would be bad news. Kudos to the devs- those bugs do seem smart, pulling some good tactical moves.

By the by advice for this mission based on what I saw would actually to focus on killing the smaller bugs as your troops target the closest enemy not the strongest. Having some rocket troops is fine but you need to micro for them to be effective so instead use regular or mkII troopers with rocket troopers here and there to focus down the bigger bugs. Once the smaller bugs are dealt with those big cannons will wipe out anything that isn't a tanker bug with two shots or less. And make sure your rocket troopers aren't the first thing they are facing as the sniper bugs will kill them too quickly for them to be useful.

They should do so you can choose priority on your units. like focus strongest target or weakest or closet etc

You can manually target the Wavebreakers once you're given command of the fort, and definitely should have them prioritise the scorpions.

Can't believe it's taken this long to get what looks like a solid RTS/RTT game in the ST universe. Looks like it plays pretty similar to World in Conflict. That's a good thing.

@@youngthaiarfssoldier8732 Well, not great, let me tell you, if the Marines in SC with power armors and guns bigger than they are still not match them, then what hope do they have? Now in all seriousness, you can try to speculate in Starcraft 2 coop by choosing Mengsk as commander since his faction does not use regular marines more like Dominion Soldiers whose only have light body armor and SMG by standard, tho they can be upgraded to have Flamers or LMGs, the LMG spam with them is insanely fun, even tough anything with area damage will chew right trough them.

@@k_balu-8104 Federation have both conventional and energy weapons, notabily Morita rifles and E-pulse 44 rifle, and shoulder-launched Tactical Oxygen Nuclear missiles. Plus intense air support and space navy. Also numberal manpower driven by propaganda recruitments. And they come in squads, not individually like Marine from barracks.

and artillery a-10 gunship attack heli flame thrower napalm and most importantly pesticide btw the Federation in original novel are total badass they simply use one squad of mechanize troopers (similar to space marine in 40k and gudam) and they can sweep the whole planet clean until they meet those buggers

@@Pyro978 I believe the mechanized jump suits are actually how the Mobile Infantry are described in the book, it's where "mobile" comes from. The original movie intentionally departed from the source material.

It absolutely is possible. Just not sure if you can get more troops if you lose a squad from taking that hive since usually there’ll be a lot of bugs there.

Check out the game called NOTA SpringRTS. More accurately, NOTA (Not Original Total Annihilation) is a modification to SpringRTS, which is itself a standalone game engine - it is a fan remake of Total Annihilation. NOTA has a game mode called SpaceBugs - there are some matches on RU-vid. In that game mode, you defend your base against arachnids, it is fun and awesome as fuck. The game engine permits thousands of units duking it out simultaneously.

It's a bit more high octane than most but I think generally anything Jeff Van Dyk works on he does very well in (Composer for most of the TW games), SC2 has a good score, Supreme Commander, Age of Empires. Contextually, it's good, but so is most of the music for all the other games.

Makes no sense to ever have troops in the open against a non projectile shooting enemy but whatever. Reminds me of game of thrones when the bulk of the army was outside of the castle

Right? Basic riflemen are the worst up against bugs unless they're on a high wall. Heavy weapon crews, tanks or other fighting vehicles, and air support should be the primary combat arms against bugs.

If only it had base building and resource mining aspects it would be perfect. The first thing i thought when i saw the tiger bugs attacking was "quick! Get a SCV AND BUILD BUNKERS!" I hope Heinlein's descendants gets royalties from this game.

Dev said at time of release there will be no skirmish mode and just the 21 map campaign. So no replay ability at all.

@@TheTrueAdept this game is extremely barebones form of rts anyway. Even the infantry animations are 2008. I wouldve liked a Bit more terrain affectability and assymetry like in the first company of heroes. A bit more Detail like wounded soldiers and medic units. Brainbugs. Stealth and survival missions. Got so many ideas

Not a fan of the scorpion units. The bugs were characterised by being melee units with the plasma bugs for dealing with fleet. The main characteristic of the Terrans is overwhelming range and firepower with squishy units. Losing in a range battle seems silly for that universe. Also, I would rather have to retreat to the drop ships manually rather than a victory screen. The withdraw is such a part of that universe. Overall I think it's pretty, but the gameplay from the 20 year old Mattel PC game seems superior.

this game is going to be sweet, i also dont like how the scorpion units have an insane health-pool...why would they have claws and an insane range attack. Either way, cant wait for the full release. I think these devs did it justice for sure

@@TheLogan-ir6di If this game was going to be based on the books it would look very different, it's clearly based on the movies that everyone recognises. Otherwise we'd just be going straight to marauder suits and skinnies. There is a world of difference between the book and movies.

I love trooper had the full size pinball in my dinning room for few years and it was awesome. This rts just seems a little bland will keep a eye on it and if sale gets good enough then will consider it

I really wish they would expand on the starship troopers universe. The bugs are an interesting enemy, but It just feels like there could be more in this franchise. Like a fanatical cult like faction from another planet, or an alien race that winds up being the ones who use the bugs as a weapon, or some tau or covenant like alien race that is an amalgamation of alien races who are the exact opposite of the xenophobic terran confederation who are hell bent on killing all aliens. Just something. Starship troopers movies/games always stick to the exact same format every time, and like the alien/predator universe I think it would benifit from expansion, as long as it feels like whatever they add really fits in the franchises universe.
