As retired LEO in large metro area, this is sage advice from an expert. I might add a warning I received from an old veteran street cop when I was a rookie back in the day: Rest assured when you go before a grand jury or trial jury, you won't be judged by 12 fellow officers (ie: your peers.) Same thing with armed citizens, you won't be judged by 12 other 2A advocates.
Unfortunately people like me have a lot to protect and lose my wife and my 4 year old son, ide rather them see daddy through a cage then visiting him at the Cemetery.
Very true, especially in theses times since Soros completed his DA insurgency. There’s another piece of advise or statement that I live by everyday. When I wake up and the first thing I do is put my firearm on, I remember that under any circumstance, it’s better to be judged by 12 than carried out by 6.
Sage advice - provided our US Constitution and continuity of government are still intact. But even now, courts are closed because of COVID. DA's are refusing cases on Multiple Accounts of Felony Assault - Family Violence. Frankly, we're in a dangerous transition testing a dysfunctional legal system and a lawless society as BLM/Antifa demonstrated earlier this year. I'd like to think we could all be civil enough to respect our fellow man and our legal process to do as you suggest. But if this continues, our courts and our economy remain closed, and mob riots rule the roosts ................ I'm not worried about 12 jurors. I'm worried about God, Country, and Family; and whatever I need to do, in the preservation of those tenets ............. and that's about it.
As a man that has served on 2 pretty big deal juries for trials that took weeks, I can attest 100% to this. Most jurors are either government employees, thus sympathetic to authority or unemployed doofus’s. The reason is that most gainfully employed people don’t also have employee paid time off for jury service and the stipend offered by the court isn’t enough to make up for the loss. Also people always complain about jury duty instead of looking at it like a civic duty. We can’t complain when the system is messed up and try our best to get out of jury selection at the same time without looking as hypocritical as the left. When talking with the majority of the people on both juries I found their grasp on the real world to be much different than mine and felt I would be effed either way if I was the defendant.
I carry my primary firearm in a two-slot pancake holster with a thumb break. I chose this configuration because it works equally well for both concealed and open carry. If I'm worried about encountering a mob, I will switch to open carry in order to deter them from choosing me as a target. If you're carrying concealed and targeted, simply exposing it is considered brandishing. At that point it's too late and, in most states, you have no legal out that doesn't involve drawing and firing. One way or another, you are almost certainly going to jail that night if the mob targets you while you are concealed carrying.
Fuck these mobs! If they stay clear from me an my family an house there will be no issues. If they try to burn my house down or break in well then it’s all over for them no questions asked idc.
It is good advice. Extrapolating from that wisdom, if you live in a jurisdiction wherein you are likely to be unjustly prosecuted for defending your home with a weapon, move from that city/county/state.
There's always a way to avoid but there's also a way to react to a situation without a bad situation and that is self-defense no matter what for loved ones and those that are defenseless that is the difference between life and death it would be my life before death from somebody else that is a threat if the threat is a pursuit towards an individual like myself or somebody I love or toward somebody being harmed it is upon the action that takes place and there's no other place besides being safe with self-defense and that is the resort that will be taken if need be and no trouble thinking a weapon is a weapon no matter what it is if they are approaching with any type of salt weapon in hand it will be dealt with for self-defense that is the true outcome life before feelings... 💯♥️✝️🙏🇺🇸⚖️👌❤️🤍💙🙌🤔💡🙄🧐🤨
Reality is some people work those hours. Might stop to get gas or grocery shop. Or you go out to watch a ball game and eat. We have the right to be out, but odds of perps being in even relatively safe locations is way up, so one needs more situational awareness.
I’ve seen a lot of videos of mobs surrounding cars, and I didn’t see any “good” protesters trying to remove them saying “that’s not who we are” You are giving these people way too much dignity
Very true! If I'm in my vehicle with my family and a violent mob surrounds my vehicle slamming and kicking my vehicle with baseball bats and crowbars and attempting to flip us upside down, I will shoot every mf in that crowd. And if a innocent bystander was stupid enough to remain in close proximity and they get shot. Sucks to be them.
I've seen it happen. In fact, Charleston protest that was used to falsely accuse Trump of being a so-called supremacist was an example of peaceful protestors among violent rioters like Antifa.
I have seen ONE video of a mob going after an elderly disabled man who took a wrong turn and ended up in an ANTIFA mob. They were attacking him, and you could hear one person saying "guys, stop" because he could see that it was a confused disabled person. I can only hope that this person was inspired by that event to get far away from those sick mobs.
Check out Ohio. There working on a stand your ground law. You wood be good as long as you are where you are legally if it means death or great bodily harm to you or your imeadiate family. Don't try to be the hero to someone that not imeadiate loved one. AND you can never prevoke the threatening party!!. At all.!
ride4kix I agree, this would solve a lot of problems. The idea of protesting is to be seen and counted, when protesters are out at night, they are rioting, plain and simple. The threat of protester being shot due to the actions of another, with no repercussions to the shooter in fear of their life, may keep them off the streets at night in the first place.
I saw my first dead bodies during the LA Riots. I saw police retreat and leave people defenseless. Our school bus was stopped 3 times by small mobs of looters, but they quickly let us through. Our bus driver had the foresight to arm herself.
@@nosuchthing8 that was nothing but a TV show, they did not hurt one house person or senate person, if they were trying to take over a government you kill the government, the cops inside the building were walking around with the protesters and talking together yeap it looked scary lol i guess they forgot there matches like the BLM and Antifa did when they burn down buildings and killed people, and the c that died was from a stroke and the lady who died was from a black DC cop and was unarmed but no one cares about her because she is white
@@keithsurdyke2535 he made sure thr vaccines were distributed in a timely fashion. And he didn't support a fascist takeover of the government. Every day, in every way, I'm so glad I voted Biden.
All good advice, no doubt, but if the crowd is breaking my glass and trying to drag me out of my car, and/or attacking my wife, the last thing I'm going to be thinking about is what does our State law say. It's survival at that stage.
Yes, but you still should check your local laws... BEFORE things happen. That knowledge should lead to a pretty reliable flowchart when the mess gets going.
That's an excellent point, and it's why we all need to think though these scenarios and decide in advance how we'll respond to various situations. If you try to figure it all out in the moment, you'll probably make terrible mistakes.
Referencing Fredericksburg VA this last summer where a woman and her daughter was verbally abandoned by police while trapped and being terrorized as she TRIED to escape a mob of rioters pounding on and jumping on her car; I must agree with your assessment. The persons ON her vehicle should have been fair game. Rioters depend on citizens staying within the law, and doing what police (via a dispatcher or an officer) tell the citizen (victim) to do. In the Fred'burg police response dispatchers verbalized that no officer would be responding to extricate her, nor assist her in any way. The icing on the cake was the mayor later apologizing TO THE RIOTERS (???!) For the viral condemnation of their attack on an innocent person. At least in Virginia, AG Herring, the criminal justice system, and the state legislative body have sacrificed law adiding citizens on the alter of Marxist critical theory dogma. Yeah, avoid, but be prepared because the riotors are specifically bringing the fight TO law abiding citizens, knowing that socialist AGs, lawyers, judges, and legislators will criminalize the law abiding citizen and celebrate and protect the criminal rioter.
Good advice, don't let your temper get you into trouble. A bad guy can ruin your life even if they never touch you. Just be aware of your surroundings, avoid situations, but be ready if backed in a corner.
A lot of those sharks went by the name of "The Proud Boys, Three Percenters, and Boogaloo Bois". It was a an active duty sergeant in the Air Force, and active member of the Boogaloo Bois, that shot and murdered two members of law enforcement here in Oakland CA during BLM marches through downtown Oakland.
This shows how corrupt the modern justice system is. Once some of the demonstrators start rioting it is a riot not a protest. Giving cover to violent rioters makes one culpable for their actions in sane societies.
@@mattroman4551 None of these groups are the same. The Boogalo Bois have stated they want a race war and seem to be coming from the left. While I haven't seen 1 example of the other two groups ever being the aggressor or attack regular citizens. BLM, again on the left, do this constantly.
I think in most states(Please do your own research) your car is an extension of your home. (I live in Commieville, IL) I believe it is as well but, they change things constantly. Be smart Stay Safe everyone! Great stuff/Reminders from Mass
yep, so the next time someone breaks into your house, you need to make sure you are not there, in fact we recommend that you place a visible sign on your property, so criminals will know when you will be there, that way you wont need to defend yourself. you should also leave the doors unlocked, because if the criminal hurts themselves trying to break in, you could be held responsible. if there are some fiery but mostly peaceful protestors in your town, you must avoid them even though you have the legal right to be and to go anywhere in public. just because you need to go to work, or you want to drive somewhere, on public roads that your taxes helped to build and maintain, is not an excuse. you need to curtail your activities as law abiding citizen so that the protestors are not unfairly victimized when they attempt to stop your car or throw things at you etc etc....
Your right like jan 6th now there seating in prison for years i bet now they wish they stayed home and not listen to crazy trump we have to fight like hell. Trump always talked like Hitler in he's speeches and these weak minded people fell for it now they have nothing but time to think about it while trump is out there free playing golf
100%. If you find yourself changing your ammo out to fit a future threat where you are planning to travel ... then get a grip on yourself and just don't go there. Jeez.
Another Good one from Massad; He mentioned avoidance... I always stated "Avoidance is the higher form of personal defense or protection", and now, apparently the least costly...
@Eric W anticipation. You cant avoid every situation. But often if you are informed you can ask yourself if this trip is necessary today or if it can wait. You can ask yourself if there is a better way to get there with less risk. You can be on the lookout to anticipate trouble scenarios.
@Roman the idea is its easier to kill retreating troops. The most dangerous animal is the one completely surrounded because when he realizes it he'll fight until his dying breath. Battle of bastogne, 101st held it against a force 2 to 3 times its size for 8 days because they were surrounded
@@jglitch0 True. Reminds me of the story of USMC John Basilone or the absolutely incredible story of Senator Daniel Inouye. If not verified, no one would have believed it. I still shake my head in disbelief and humility.
Attacks take seconds. No one will be going through local laws when being attacked. A real shame that one is attacked in the street, then in court for defending yourself. A real shame the DA puts themselves into the position of the second attacker, but so be it...
StrainedDig4 Retired police of 36 years you are correct these damn atty gen and judges are the issue. Look up on newsmax the state atty gen of new jersey wanting to limit police dealings with public. Amazing how the exact same situation can have different outcomes depending on which state the incident happens. There should be universal laws in all of the US when it comes to these matters.
@@joejones9520 The discussion wasn’t only about what to do once the threat becomes real. Ayoob just said at the end if you can avoid the situation entirely obviously that’s best. THEN if it becomes unavoidable you take the next step. Why do you guys argue over nothing? Just for the sake of arguing??
That is my philosophy I carry a handgun everywhere but where I don't have to if possible I try to avoid conflict I get made fun of for it all the time but it truly is the best way to avoid getting into this kind of situation
For real! Advocating avoidance when the mob comes to your neighborhood? rediculous. I get the legal reason for not wanting over-penetrating rounds but this is a legal work fabrication. Reality, and common sense, tell you anyone in that mob is fair game once the violence starts. Shouldn't be in the mob trying to restrain the "actual" violent ciminal in the first place - all of "that team's" ideology is wrong and criminal as far as i'm concerned at that point. I don't care if the enemy has a medic who looks non-violent
True. In the midst of being attacked by a mob one must be able to identify The exact persons who will hurt you and your family. America has become a nation of fools in the era of stupidity.
From personal experience: members of a mob are still sane enough that no one of them will be among the first to attack a defended position. Only if they believe they can flank / overwhelm you will they try. If you can, get the leader / instigator / loudmouth. The mob will quickly lose direction.
Awesome scene in the movie “the 5th element” about this. Bruce Willis’ character is faced with a mob of brainless warrior types, hollers something about wanting to negotiate with the “leader” and ends that threat, then asks if anyone else wants to negotiate leaving the remaining brainless moron “warriors” saying to themselves WTF. There are plenty of wanna be “warriors” right now. They may not be the “leaders” of any “event” but they can kill you, your family, loved ones, friends, etc. all the same. I don’t know where I was going there, but it was funny to me, the scene from the movie I mentioned minimally. Have a beautiful and safe day. Enjoy!
That's really good advice but you will not always be able to avoid it when you run into it by surprise on your way home from the steakhouse with your family in the car with you and you get surrounded what then?
Why is it the burden of the individual being surrounded by angry, racist people, to identify which one will enact violent actions in a split second? It's sad that we've gotten to this point.
Not a split second. The Texas Ranger he mentioned would come to towns in the hold of riots. The Ranger watched to see who the ringleader was. He then waded into the crowd and beat the ringleader to a pulp. One riot, one Ranger.
Because some people in the crowd may be committing crimes whereas others are not. You don't get to simply kill people randomly because you are frightened.

I have been in such a situation and it can happen in a pro-2nd state. I was able to get away and no problem. Some have said: "Buy you had a gun, why didn't you use it?" They don't understand that I have a gun to NOT use unless there is no choice.
Having past experience yes sir. Its seriously stressful to life property and family getting involved with active use of force. Under color of authority. Civil rights issues alone, personal in nature, too professional adhering too rules of force. 7 years of ongoing dark cloud haunting. I was a prison tower gunner for five years for a very violent institution. Today, I’m old, wore out, beaten down, not healthy as a typical PERS retiree. I’ve been attacked several times, but I seem to go right into clear headed thinking just as I did my 38 years past. I even find myself smiling at parolee turds as they fling themselves against my passenger window. Our governor mandatory catch and release program is awful. As a 10 year Police Reserve I spent countless hours in the homes of these felons. I know the pain caused by sons, daughter’s, and ex-baby daddies. I clearly realize the 95 too 98 percent of all public services needed clause. The HOODS. Ambulance, fire, police homicide, forensics all tied up in the same areas over and over and over. I think it was Journey who came up with the song That Big Wheel in the Sky Keeps Turning... I used to play it alot coming home post shift with tears in my eyes. My health has caused my faculties (eye hand/arm brain coordination) a hindrance. Sight hearing, bearing, directional hearing, balance, how many more can I come up with? In my community, which is a high crime area, I move on the installment plan option along with my Medicare Part B plan. Parking lots, carts galore, mental illness even in places you think are safe, I must ignore, be like a mouse, await someone younger to intercede. Its the shits for sure. Now, I sit here in my blessed household. Typing this out, feeling insignificant too it all. Just another rubber-necker whom began in the 1970’s believing he could be all that he could be, only too realize this is what turned out him to be. I’m 10-7
Massad is brilliant in gun law and common sense, tried and tested with a lifelong career in Law Enforcement, firearms handling and Case Law. Awesome job as usual.
I agree but in 2020 there are many cases, events where actions happen rapidly or are chaotic. It's easy to second guess or berate someone after a event. I do security, licensed-armed 👮🏻♂️. Street people & thugs can be erratic or intoxicated, "excited delirium". Its hard & dangerous to deal with these suspects.
This was a very well thought out video. The random violence is what motivated me to start being more defensively minded all day every day when I am out in the world. I always was, but not on the level of attention I have nowadays. This world has gone around the bend in some places in particular. I never had the mindset that having a weapon allowed me to go anyplace I would not go without it. It makes me more cautious instead. I hope we never have to go that far. The Gravest extreme indeed.
After the show trial and the media smear and constant spotlight and lies. You can decide if was truly better to go to trial or to have died in your encounter.
It's surprisingly simple: those "powers that be" aren't interested in such a message getting to the masses, sooo...his videos are not advertised, the algorithms throttle the exposure. Same thing that happens when any group of power is adamant about controlling/influencing the masses. Same story has been happening since the beginning of time.
Basically what the future holds for law abiding citizens is to become as unlawful as they are, be stealthy, make a serious attempt to be untraceable and do your absolute best to leave no evidence behind.
Excellent Video. I've been mostly reading your wisdom since the 1980s. From the the time when Glocks were ridiculed as "plastic" guns that wouldn't last. And could go through airport X-Ray machines. Every magazine had at least one article about 9mm vs .45 "stopping power". I think .40 S&W is still a perfect compromise. You still give great updated advice 40+ years later. And the legal terrain is much more complicated. Either you haven't aged or you've really taken care of yourself. I look 50+ years older than I did in the mid 1980s. What's your secret?
Penn State Police proved years ago that for them the .357 mag was the best whereas the ER doc in Chicago clearly defined the best as the .45 because most gang bangers shot with a .45 stayed dead. They would patch up the 3=5, nine mm holes and after a week in ICU/rehab the bangers went home to get well and reenact their crimes.
Havent had any "peaceful protests" of any note down on the MS coast so when I see the mobs and riots on the news and then hear a talk like this it is almost as if the discussion is of another country.
Hate to admit it, but have seen the 'wisdom' of that after retiring from 'civilized' urban life, to semi-rural AZ where everyone 'carries'... always providing a clear 'incentive' to avoid any further _escalation._
Have you ever noticed that police cars keep a space in front when they come to a stop in traffic-- they are trained to do that to avoid being boxed in.
exactly. I respect Ayoob but he's ignoring the elephant in the room here. He's talking about protesters who are protesting on a street where there happen to be cars, vs. thugs who deliberately approach cars to attack them while carrying signs and chanting slogans so they can claim to be protesters.
Kyle did an excellent job defending himself against his attackers. Above and beyond what most of us could accomplish. When a mob has gathered and is threatening you, throwing missiles, moltov cocktails, how do you know which one is going to be the one that will harm or kill you? Do you wait until your head is bashed in before you defend yourself? By then, of course, it is too late. Best course is to stay out of the hot spots. That is stay out of the large liberal cities and let them eat their own.
His problem is he had no good reason to be where he was. He wasn't hired as private security or as far as I know even where he was at the request of the property owners or the city. As Mas said, it's the totally of circumstances that the courts look at. I have zero sympathy for the scumbags he shot, but I have zero empathy for him because he foolishly put himself in that position to begin with
@@nightrider1850 in the USA you don’t have to have a reason to be in a public place. There is no law that says if a riot breaks out, rioters are allowed to be there and everyone else is not.

I have always felt that the best defense was to be aware of current events, both where you are and where you are planning to go. Not allowing yourself to get jack potted into a bad situation in the first place is not magic, it's just forethought.
EXACTAMUNDO! Or, as I said in another comment: "Good luck trying to selectively pick off the 98 out of a mob of 100 that are trying to kill you, while avoiding the two that MIGHT NOT be so disposed. How are you supposed to know which ones are thinking what? : ) Imagine having ten of these idiots yelling and spitting in your face, but you're waiting for a brick upside the head before you react. This is where we are." The McCloskeys had it EXACTLY RIGHT. You CANNOT WAIT until your house is on fire! The dirtbags will just wait from concealment to pick you off as soon as you come out the door... you'll never know what hit you.
And he also failed to mention that in a protesters/mob group with pickets and guns they all become TARGETS because the picket sign people are there with the gun toting thugs of such and are putting themselves in harms way or they're there as a literal decoy of sorts or accessories to the mob violence which is another way to look at it !!! In other words protesters SHOULD not be with thugs with GUNS/RIOTERS PERIOD !!!! And by that time there is NO law and order when SHTF to that level !!!!!
WHY? If the firebomb failed to impact in the interior what makes you make this assumption about fire behavior? Fire Alarms are mandatory. Think of those as offering safety/evacuation. Cocktails are liquid in composition. NOT Blasting penetrating or fragmentation type. Your dog will become aware or even a family cat, mob action such as here in my community involves hundreds even thousands suddenly showing up in well manicured neighborhoods. Scares shit out of everybody. Elderly especially. Yes arson has is occurring sir. But, believe me, you’ll be awakened when and if such action visits you’re neighborhood soon.
I love that you also include the avoidance idea as well. So many people seem to want to tempt fate. Also points for the Sun Tzu reference. I feel more people should read that.
The problem is that bad guys don't always give you that option. As far back as the Rodney King riot the "protesters" marched into residential neighborhoods, looting, burning and injuring the innocent. Cali. Is not "stand your ground". During the last election cycle garages, cars and homes were burned for having a MAGA sign. These victims were not given the option to avoid conflict.
Justin, you have to consider the vice president of the US Kamala Harris bailed out the rioters and is a staunch supporter of any violent act on her side. Right from the top folks like me and you have no chance being exonerated of any defensive act. We are in a bad situation......
I was attacked not long ago. I was able to pick the attacker off the ground and slam him to the floor. I was carrying but I never pulled because I felt he was done after hitting the floor. I walked away keeping eye contact and left the scene. He was extremely intoxicated and apparently he thought I was someone else. Glad I just walked away because I don’t want a death on my heart unless no other option is available.
Ra, ra, sis, boom, ba! And ANOTHER "war story" Just your own stated fact that you were able to pick the guy up and body slam him, makes the entire incident IRRELEVANT to nearly every one! Brag about your "bad ass self" to your drinking buds, but otherwise ... nobody cares!
