Deon was like Glenda the good witch in the Wizard of Oz. He helped the players realize that they had the ability all along to be winners just like Glenda told Dorothy " You had it all along." I'm a die hard JSU fan but I recognize that Deon didn't have to do what he did for us. I'm very sad that he is leaving but even more sad at all the negativity he is getting. He doesn't deserve that AT ALL! I will always be greatfull to him AND support him. Black folks....stop the crab in a bucket mentality. PLEASE! WE MUST do better.

Nobody cares about another black man getting the bag. We love seeing images of ourselves driving foreign cars, popping bottles, and throwing bags of money at the strip clubs. Even if you have to sell drugs to pregnant mothers, and destroy your community in the process. We give the successful black man with the money a pass. but Deion presented his time at JSU as something different. he made it seem as if he cared, and that he would level the playing field.

During his interview on 60 Minutes the interviewer asks what happens if a Power 5 school calls. Coach Prime answered, "I’m gonna have to entertain the offer and I would be a fool not to". He was honest and out front with his answer. Good decision Coach and nice job putting the HBCU institutions in the spot light.

Deion Brought 30 million to the school. Fixed the field, Locker rooms. ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Game Day, 60 minutes, CBS, Good morning, America. 2 winning seasons, undefeated. 2 championships. Got his kids exposure. Had Pro scouts at practice. Houston is in the pros, Miller is Next. Put the SWAC on the Map. What did JSU, the state do in return except benefit from the success. They sat back and went along for the ride. he left JSU in a much better place. Let's see if the next coach can keep it going.

fake news. Holding someone accountable for what they say is not being ungrateful. He framed his time at JSU as being a calling from God to level the playing field. If I was a minister at your church, that introduced you to your wife, and helped you start a family business. at the point that I start sleeping with your wife, steal your employees, and foreclose on your house. those selfish actions kinda undue all the good will that i may have built up in the beginning. and you then saying that you are disappointed would not be seen as being ungrateful.

He has shown Top Recruits that it is possible to shine and be noticed at a HBCU. 2. He has mentored Black Coaches on the SWAC level and shown them how to win and get it done. 3. He's leaving has made room for his mentees to shine without him and to have phenomenal growth. 4. He branded himself as a winning coach and will open doors at the next level for more Black Head Coaches. Great move Guru Prime.

What boils my skins is that you intolerable asses sit up here and make it seem like we owe Deion our lives for what he has done. Deion brought exposure because he is a walking piece of marketing. He could sneeze and ESPN is right there to cover it like it’s 5 o’clock news. Our alumni base does give back but keep in mind we are not financially wealthy as the PWIs y’all love to fangirl over. So our giving is only enough to cover some of the disparities due to lack of state funding. Now the catalyst for change to our institutions are gone. What do you suppose we do..more money yea but it does solve all the issues our movement is facing. We are the only race that will gladly build up or renovate someone else house than our own. Can you imagine a HBCU D1AA mega conference that includes talented players, star studded coaches, and facilities out of this world. No you can’t because you only see it for them and not for us. No one is mad at Deion for getting a new opportunity, but he left before we had a system in place to thrive off the blueprint. Two years is not enough for a program nor an entire conference to move forward without that system. Food for thought‼️

Although this issue is centralized on an HBCU (Black culture). I must bring attention to this issue being bigger than just Black people. This is a sports sociocultural dynamic. There's a strange premise that people can dictate how athletes should live their lives - make decisions, fashions, relationships, etc. When it comes to athletes (celebrity status) suddenly they are not allotted decent respect as an adult and an “author of their book of life.” The masses somehow believe that they are their controlled subjects. It's outrageous and getting alarmingly out of control. Specifically, because there's nothing less controllable and more reckless than group-think mentalities.

It’s sad that he left, but let’s not act like his time at JSU has been sunshine and rainbows. Deion donated HALF his salary to renovating the football facilities for the players. He brought in the one of best coaching staffs JSU has ever seen. His coaching staff was grossly underpaid and he tried asking the school and community for help to keep his staff. JSU been having issues providing quality meals to keep his players in peak condition and the school and community still wouldn’t step up. When Jackson went thru the water crisis he moved his players into a hotel so they could have water, and can take showers. Basically, 250k a year and he gave half of it back to the school. And they asking for a 300k contract buy out back. Everywhere Jackson state went…they sold out! Here are the actual factuals. Coach Prime was hired at $1.4 for 4 years. Most of that money he gave away. His new contract is $29.5 for 5 years. Even in the end he owes JSU $300k. Even the $29.5 is cheap compared to some NCAA coaches who are getting $10-11.7 mill a year. It is a shame how he is being hated and vilified by the black community more than anyone else. Thank YOU Coach Prime! I'm an older "fan". I never went to an HBCU. I didn't really care for college football, let alone HBCU college football. I didn't even care when they announced Deion was going to JSU. I didn't watch season one of his time there. But last year, I kept hearing more and more about Jackson State. And I was like, OK, let me just look into what is going on. And from then on, I have been rooting for JSU. Deion did more than just help that one program: He got NATIONAL attention on HBCUs. I wish someone could do an analysis on how many times HBCU has been Googled or mentioned in the media over the last three years. Although I didn't go to an HBCU, it made me proud just to be Black, to see OUR people in the stands, to see OUR players in the interviews, to see OUR people getting high praise. And all the teams JSU played against, they also got attention. Their fan base got reinvigorated, their ticket sales went up, their hotel rooms got more business, their restaurants served more food, their media took center stage. This helped OUR PEOPLE. I agree 100% with what Rickey is saying. We've got to stop this foolishness. Deion was NOT JSU. JSU is JSU. They have the same opportunities as before. They've still got a connection with Deion Sanders. And the other HBCUs now can see that it IS possible to forge relationships with companies like Walmart, and Pepsi and Nike, et al. Those doors have been blown open for US. It's because of GOD sending Deion Sanders....Coach Prime...to JSU and leaving this mark. He could have come in, did one year, and said, "I don't need this. We don't even have clean drinking water! I'm out!" No, he went on NATIONAL TV and talked about the challenges in Jackson and he implored LEADERS to step up to the plate. He did it for OUR PEOPLE. Rickey was right when he said that they need to enshrine Coach Prime into the JSU Football Hall of Fame.

They see how we treat each other- it's pathetic. I had a conversation with a friend 3 weeks ago about how well Coach Sanders is doing at JSU- she was all smiles... yesterday, I had a conversation with her- and now she's pissed off because, he's leaving. Foolish! After I broke it all down to her, basically saying exactly what you just said- there was nothing but silence. I asked her did JSU counter offer ??? Of course not. I said people, things and events come into our lives for a reason and a season. No one should be upset with this man-(coach)- for making the best decision for him and his family. It ain't no crab in a barrel. Nobody cares that he's leaving, what people are mad about is that he said God brought him to level the playing field. That's what he said. He said God brought him there to be a father to the fatherless. That's what he said. As a result, when you use TD Jakes verbiage and philosophies people became attached to the rhetoric. Coach Prime was the one who created a emotional attachment and then created emotional trauma. He was the one who told kids to come to Jackson State and forgo pwi institutions. Nevertheless, he jumped at the first offer he got.

@beemonique8466 Год назад
@@jarriusjames3563 What? Seriously? He's not God- not Jesus. Not even did Jesus stay in the same place, He moved around. He constantly told them that no matter how much he believes in them; they must believe in themselves! Which is absolutely true. Coach Prime did his time, got new equipment, lovker room and more; PLUS- he spent his own money investing at JSU. He did things that JSU had money to do with, long before he got there- but they didn't. He stayed 3 years!!! Never said that he would retire there! 99% percent of people would go forward to a better offer and opportunity. It's foolish to even attempt to hold Coach Prime in any type of contempt for putting his family FIRST, while blessing JSU with his talents and presence. This is just another example why so many can't get ahead and are unhappy- because folks are quick to judge others; instead of judging themselves.

I grew up about 45 mins away from Jackson in a whiter area and just 45 mins away from Jackson in a place called Madison you could see the difference. The only issue I have is as a collective black community we WILL NEVER get anywhere if we don’t start thinking GENERATIONALLY! I’m not saying it’s Deion’s job to think generationally but all of us have to do our parts or just say we living for ourselves and not the future of us. I’m overseas and I DONT want to be the black American representative but unfortunately by default I AM! I’m the only BLACK AMERICAN where I work in the Middle East and will probably be the only BLACK AMERICAN that some AFRICANS, Arabic-speaking individuals, Muslims, Australians so forth may ever meet. WE THINK TOO SMALL! It’s bigger then one or two of us! I’m thankful but sad for the young black men who looked to him as a father because they don’t have one but don’t understand why he has to leave. All these black people mad at Coach Prime haven't donated or done anything to help HBCU's. They won't invest in what they see as being their own, but complain and have disdain for the man who brought light to it, laid the foundation, and moved on.

Your comment shows a true lack of character like Deion showed by taking this Colorado job. As soon as black people disagree with one of your capitalist heroes. I think he's also called attention to HBCU's. As a middle aged white woman, I had no idea that there were many athletes from HBCU's in pro sports. I'm ashamed to admit that I always thought HBCU's were for students who needed to rehabilitate their studies, or unable to get a scholarship and can't afford "mainstream" schools. Good for Deion. He deserves the promotion and I think he's an exciting coach. He's maverick, different, young adults LISTEN to him.

While at JSU Deion: -Won 2 championships in 2 years -He donated HALF his salary to the school (He only made $300K per year Salary) -He was robbed during a game (Some sources say twice) -Gave JSU majority publicity just by him being there and doing interviews...publicity they NEVER had before (ESPN don't cover JSU) - He helped many kids achieve the vision of making the league and those players can call him anytime What more do you want from this man? He basically worked for free, paid his employer and got disrespected while helping them gain exposure and win championships...and people mad

Man Rick. That's real talk there bruh. I just wanna add this; Job well done, Coach Prime! Best of luck in your new roll at Colorado! I know some are trying to bring him down for doing what ANY OTHER COACH has done, which is to elevate their career and the careers of others. Let’s think about this for a second: 1. Coach Prine came to a school and a conference NO ONE was talking about. 2. ESPN and others were mentioning/airing them on the national stage. 3. He brought in over $185 million in value to the program and the community. 4. He donated most of his salary back to help the school and the program. So it wasn’t about the money! 5. He left a model and a blueprint for what can be done to build up HBCU athletic programs. After he’s gone, that should continue! 6. He delivered TWO SWAC chips, an undefeated season and did what he said he would do in THREE YEARS! What else do you want?! So like MOST coaches do, he’s moving on to a better situation for HIM and his staff, and leaving said situation 1000% better than he found it! He was supposed to stay there? Isn’t any coaches desire to elevate themselves and others? Might I add , he allowed Bethune-Cookman to used Jackson st's facilities when they were in town because they had nowhere to practice. What Coach on any level would do that for their rivals? But, yet again, we see someone’s desire to do better for themselves as a slight against us all…who taught us this? It's kind of like the Willie Lynch syndrome.

What you spoke...It's the basic life lesson of all that people, our people just keep missing...Just be thankful, be humble, and just be honest and those alone WILL open up the doors for GOD to shine! So why do we always find it easier to dim our own lights OR folks like CoachPrime. This video you did will be my forever "Go To" because sometimes krazy with our people just don't stop...And that's sad.
