I don't know the currently situation in the British Armed forces, but just a few years ago the British armed forces was recruiting under 18 year olds, they would only send people into battle once they had turned 18, however, there were definitely under 18 year olds serving in the British armed forces just a few years ago and probably still do to this day.

I find comments like "let the kids be kids" etc. really weird. These children live in a hot warzone where civilians are targeted. They live every day in a reality where they might fall asleep but not wake up anymore. They have been living in that reality for years know. They might have seen more dead people than anyone of us. There is no "normal" life and children sometimes haven´t seen a school for years. Their parents or siblings might be fighting as soldiers and they might have lost their homes and part, if not all, of their family- so I get why they feel a need to prepare in a situation where they are otherwise helpless victims....They understand the situation they are in. They are not soldiers and do not fight- but they understand the need to prepare for the worst (like the 12 year old who doesn´t even want to be a soldier in the future). (As far as we know) noone is forcing them to participate in those activities.... Yes, children should have a peaceful and happy childhood, but that is not exactly easy in a warzone. Do you expect them to play happily with Legos while bombs are falling, their family-members are fighting or dying and they are surrounded by corpses ????? Their reality is to fight for survival, with or without combat. And fyi: the age limit for the US army is 17 with military schools for younger children. It is probably similar for many other countries too. The conscription age in the Ukraine is 25+ years. As long as the war isn´t glorified and no children are brainwashed or forced, I think it is a good way for them to cope with their reality and future. Ofc it shouldn´t be the only way for children to cope with the war... Imagine being one of those Ukrainian kids reading these comments from rich Westerners living in peace and safety: "hey, you should go out and have fun, play with toys" etc...- while bombs rain down...

Not anly teenages but they are recruting girls now some by force, most of them through manipulation and their life span in the front lines is only 3 hours. What is horrifying is the fact that they are not even fighting for their country but fo foreign interests mostly. And The world is cheering them on. How sad.
