Hey Eric, thanks so much for covering this. You really cleared up a lot of questions on this confusing topic! And thanks also to Chris for his clear answers! Great job by both of you! 👍👍
Superb video. Thank you Eric! It is sad that music education institutes such as conservatories, academies and private schools do not provide information on these topics that are vital for young students who want to pursue this career.
There is much to teach so they have to start with basics. I should know, I teach at one. It’s hard enough to get them to understand basic music, basic recording, basic music industry things. That’s why you’ve got me on this channel!
Excellent video. Loved the history lessons and your followups. I’m going to stick with SoundExchange for collecting Neighboring Rights outside the US because I’m not doing much on the TV side internationally and it probably wouldn’t be worth NRG’s time. My latest ASCAP statement had me earning 4 cents on International TV (can’t remember if it was Writer or Publisher) . Will keep NRG Agency in mind in the future if that changes.
Great video! Super helpful! I was just a bit confused regarding the part of both joining NRG and Sound Exchange but letting SE only to cover US, was that how you spoke about it? If I'm located in Sweden, would it be any different for me?
So does it cost to sign up woth NRG or do they get percentage of any royalties? If that was covered I missed that I guess and I watched the whole video.
I don't think there is a sign-up fee, but there are a lot of contracts to sign, and they are a company in the Czech Republic. So it's a little dicey looking, and I decided not to do it for now.
@@MakeMusicIncome Is there a video you did talking about who and all you're signed up with to help you collect all your royalties, and why you signed up with each one? A link to that video perhaps, you could share with me here to watch. I did watch the song trust video, I may have to re visit that one again? Or are you still searching yourself? My OH does everything on his own, and we've been here and there trying to learn how this side hustle (at best) business works with out it costing us a bunch of money in the process. I feel we're not doing something right, or missing something? Your songtrust video was a definite eye opener though. A lot to remember.
