I like to call it a remake. Or perhaps a knockoff. Everyone except for the winner of the top six was in the same season and Alaska even pointed out that they found another lovable weirdo to replace the original lovable weirdo. They had an episode where they lost two queens early on in the season. They had a stand-up comedy challenge. Tasha Salad came back (and shot ranch dressing).
I always used to treat the theme of as3 as "careers defined beyond the show" since the show kept bringing up the queens' lives outside of drag race, but i think you're right in hindsight now that like 1/3 of the requirement to being cast on all stars now is having a notable post-og season moment
I've heard that AS4 was supposed to be the 'Best Friend Race' because the original cast include Kim Chi and Laganja. We would have Manilla and Latrice, Monet and Monique, Trinity and Valentina, Laganja and Gia, Naomi and Kim Chi.
It's a shame AS5 didn't play up a "Old vs New" storyline. You have 5 queens from the first 3 seasons and 5 queens from (at the time) the 3 newest seasons. Maybe some group challenge where they're in pairs could've worked?
Some opinions regarding AS2 because i think that even tho the entire cast was indeed full of possible winners, the overall arc of the season was much more centered arround the idea of "Villains reing!" or "No place for crybabies". Seeing how half of the cast was from season 5 a season where a Hero won that is jinx, this season from the start showed that a hero wouldn't win this season, especially if we look in the promo where they all wear royal dresses but in darker shades and in other examples like: coco who is a lipsync assasin being the first eliminated showing that lipsync would no longer be a staying factor in the competition, and adore, tatiana and ginger minj being the first set of eliminated queens reforcing the idea that being a good girl is not something rewardable in this season, and again in the makeover where alaska completly loses and breaksdown a action who would cost some queens place in the finale or even the crown in a regular season, is again reward by her staying in the competition and then of course winning the season and being the only girl in the finale who does a speech about herself and her greddy and love for the show instead of talking about something more emotional. And you could argue that my theory is not so strong because Katya is in the finale, but actually katya being in the finale but not winning is another point in my argument because she came into the season saying that she would care about herself more wich landed her a place in the finale because she had a storyline envolving get in the finale but at the end of the day she had a title of miss congineality wich would automatically cut her from being crowned wich is kinda similar to Roxxy who won the first challenge alongside tatianna but again she comited the mistake to put herself in the place of "Im not so mean like season 5 anymore" wich also cut her off the crown, and with that Alaska won by being the ultimate villain of the season using her friendship as a weapon against other queens but breaking the competition ties with them right in the finale episode. so that would be the only season theme i would change to "Villains win" season.
AS4 was also cast VERY selectively, with a diverse cast of POC and trans queens, and only two white queens. This came shortly after a lot of discourse came up surrounding the three white(-passing) winners of previous All Stars seasons, and what that represented for the franchise. This diverse casting seemed very deliberate, with production having the intention of crowning a POC winner - only for the POC frontrunner, Manila, to be booted from the season, and for Trinity to completely bulldoze the competition once again. It's also telling that the only season to have a double crowning, that they didn't film that scenario, when it has been filmed and not used for other seasons (S6: Bianca & Adore). Also, I'm not trying to discredit Monet's performance in the season, because she did very strong in the competition too! But just not as strong a track record as Trinity.
it genuinely stuns me how often u is willing to leave out key context and information just to prove their point. like this is a reoccurring thing they do. all stars 5 should mention how many queens didn’t want to sign onto the season because shea was on it too

Yes but there's a little more to it, U started it first, back then there wasn't many channels about the show. U, has been there, so even though the idea is not revolutionary, it's about who started it first.
Maybe “All Stars 8: Cracked Under Pressure” - because it seemed like most of them either a) struggled on their original season in some way (Laila’s bag look, Darienne’s “feud” with crowd favorite DeLa, etc) or b) came back into the pressure cooker of Drag Race and we visibly saw them actively struggling and cracking (Heidi withdrawing, Kahanna threatening to leave, Alexis crying all the time, etc). In the end, Jimbo, Kandy, and Jessica were the ones who seemed to handle the pressure best, so they were top three. As for All Stars 5, it was the “Sh** Has Been Crazy” season, because you had people criticizing AS4 as the “twinners” season, plus COVID throwing the world into chaos. So by launching All Stars 5 when they did, it was an attempt to establish themselves as a “cultural grounding point in a tumultuous time”.

Season 9 is known for being one the most high-drama seasons from the beginning to the end. The reunion is one of the best TV episodes point black period and their season’s drama still holds today. There hasn’t been drama anywhere near close to season 9 since season 11.
Disagree with your analysis of the “theme” of S9. The top 4 were the ones who deserved to be there and the fact that the all got along was largely coincidental. If not for not knowing her words, Valentina would likely have made it to at least top 5. And as for Alexis Michelle, the editors didn’t have to do anything, she produced herself into a semi-villain, something only reinforced by her AS season
4:19 Imma have to correct you and say that actually Latrice would be the hero since she was miss congeniallity on her season and Manila was part of the bullies, I mean the heathers on her season, so Manila is the villian and Latrice the hero.
With the two of them it was the hardest to figure out which one would go where, as they were the most "balanced" team with their edit on All Stars. Even so, Manila was shown as the most "heroic" of the Heathers. I think I just put her in the "heroes" group based on the fact that she did get slightly more of a positive edit on All Stars, even though, again, her and Latrice were the closest in both being portrayed positively.
I really think that Drag Race Rejudged just didn’t think about crediting you. Mostly since the “how I would’ve judge *blank*” is engrained in drag race culture now. Your legacy is definitely not lost on the drag race community.

For real, I thought this video was just gonna be discussing the "aesthetical theme" of each season XD Here's how I would define them: AS1: Super-Neons. AS2: Wicked Royals. (and literally the best promo outfits ever in the franchise imo) AS3: Glitter and Gold. AS4: Glistening Ice. AS5: It was probably going to be something Purple and Gold as hinted by the graphic design but the pandemic prevented the promo from being filmed. AS6: Dawn Warm tones. AS7: Swarosky Crystals? AS8: Red Carpet Realness AS9: Flying Fabrics
I agree with many of your opinions. For me, it goes: AS1 runner ups, ms cong and wild cards. AS2 season 5 2.0, AS3 villains vs fan faves, AS4 Frenemies, AS5 lets crown Shea, AS6 queens who really need a rudepmtion, AS8 early outs vs cut right before the finale. AS9... who wants some money and screen time?

The seasons that air on Logo and MTV seem to be the only seasons which receive true storylines like classic reality TV Seasons 9-14 & AS3 onwards have like no story lines, its like they get someone completely different to edit each episode

I think Pandora's edit in as1 completely ruins the heroes vs villains theory you have. to me, all stars 1 was just a traditional all stars but let's do it in pairs to make it even more interesting
Honestly Serena’s bullying from the fans though bad is far worse then the queens to her as the way the queens treated her on her original season, let’s not forget how she called the other queens uneducated and used racially derogatory terms
I think you need to switch up Manila and Latrice for AS1 because Manila was def more of a villain on her season Latrice didn’t say anything mean at all really lol and didn’t she win Miss Congeniality

If someone is annoying, you should check their behavior, especially with someone so young who needs to know the way that the industry works.
