Hello to everyone! I'd like present my first movie about Quake 3 Arena mod - defrag.
Editing and performance by me.
About content:
Only defrag runs, 10 cpm and 15 vq3 demos. Most of the runs are recorded online.
At this moment all of this demos are worldrecords.

Some of runs were made using longer (but not easier) routes for you to compare it
to other results.
About video:
Some pretty nice effects, music, cams and ofc 1st person pov.
Dunno what say else, just watch it :)

the whole video was done by glm - the runs, the editing, the rendering etc.

8 years later and this is still amazing. Favorite part @3:22 the slow motion and the music and him running up that ramp was just too perfect. Very nice

In Quake 3 mods you can choose between VQ3 (vanilla quake 3) and CPM (challenge pro mode) physics. CPM allows air control, which allows those sharp turns. Both physic mods require years of training.

You know, strafejump and bunnyhop montages don't look all that intense in very slow motion, because the whole thrill of it all is to gain speed, so whoever made this ended up killing the entire point of these trickjumping montages.

+zRexx The slow-mo is more about the feel, and setting a mood. I agree that Defrag is all about speed, but slowing it down can do wonders for visual clarity and make the run feel much better to watch. To be fair, this is Golem's first movie, and for a first movie it's pretty damn good. KOS has shown just how great slow motion can be in w3sp strafes, f33l and Speedcapture Promo. He really loves his slow-mo ;)

Airstafe is a big part, occasional bhop's and maintaining your momentum on the ramps is key, its kinda of hard to describe how it works. You basically strafe into the ramp, and instead of falling downwards, you fall in the direction your mouse points. You would really have to try it to get a feel of how difficult it is.

8:58 You must be pure Q3 player since 1999 to do that. Im just a Q3 player for fun and I knew which skills can be shown on a video ,but when i saw that 8:58 . Then i decided to dont write any comment. Or okey EXCELLENT ULTRA HYPER PERFECTTT

I play quake live for your info, quake is by far the fps that requires the most skill, but do not say anything about hl2dm because it takes a LOT of time and dedication to achieve a certain level of skill, trust me, its the exact same in quake. BTW, because of hl2dm, quake was really easy to learn at first, i was owning dudes who played for years , and i was playing for like what, 1 hour? HL2DM is not a joke trust me man, it is really a hard game, just like quake, they are really similar.

I never never pub in hl2dm, always 1v1 or 2v2. Ofc theres strafe jumping, theres bunny hopping too, all kinds of hard stuff too learn, heres a good video showing off mostly the strage jumps, it looks easy, but jesus, its really really hard : watch?v=ivSAgb6AH_Y

Dude, you'd need to play Quake to understand how much skill it requires. HL2 DM, Unreal Tournament and every other multiplayer FPS is a JOKE compared to this game. Just search for 'rapha' or 'cypher', you'll know what I mean...

Hmm.....ok gotta check it. But does it have stuff like strafe jumping? Timing powerups on the fly? I'm referring to the kinda skills that's required in 1v1 dueling.... NOT FFA.....big difference.

Wait a second. That heavily distorted song, that's Billie Jean by Michael Jackson. Da hell? You can sense it by the rhythm and pattern of the garbled vocals in accordance to the music.
