This entire record is a masterpiece, imo. Its by far their most obscure and heavy, emotionally speaking, since some of them were going tru a lot of shit. Idk why some of their fans dont like it that much.
Every time I listen to this song, I think of the day I met the mother of my Son... and how it was such an intense love... a love now over five years dead. Once meaningful, now the Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event.
What I think of when I listen to this song is someone standing in a crowded street on a rainy day, with people passing by and not even noticing him. To that person, that day is the anniversary of an event that scarred him deeply, where his life ended (not literally). But to all those people passing by, it's just the Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event. Which is even more saddening, and makes that person even more lonely.
Deftones have a cult following and most fans love them exactly how they are with them changing there style up all the time they’re the greatest band ever imo
Never thought you would react to this. This is one of their most underrated songs. I suggest that you react to the song *Fist* from their 1st album. Even though the album was mainly nu-metal, Fist was more on the experimental side. Deftones - Fist Deftones - Phantom Bride Deftones - Leathers Deftones - Tempest Deftones - Beauty School Deftones - Risk Deftones - Entombed Deftones - If only tonight we could sleep (The Cure cover) Deftones - No Ordinary love (Sade Cover) Chino has side projects. You could check them out as well. e.g Saudade (Feat Chelsea Wolfe) - Shadows & Light Team Sleep - Your Skull is red (Woodstock sessions) Palms - Mission Sunset Crosses - Bitches Brew Crosses - This is a trick Also I highly suggest Dir En Grey again. Japanese metal at its finest. You may or may not like these guys. Dir En Grey - Vinushka Dir En Grey - Glass Skin Dir En Grey - Different Sense (Weird mature video) Dir En Grey - Mushi (Live version)
Definitely would be interested in a poll for the last 5 songs, whenever you decide to close the Deftones catalog, cuz there are some tunes needed for perspective on the band and a top 10. When you move into other bands, I mentioned Alice In Chains would be a great option for a deep dive, Maynard of Tool's "A Perfect Circle", and Audioslave (though you may already be a fan).
Great reaction!!! I have been and always will be a fan of the Deftones no matter what style or genre they create because good music is good music and they write damn good music...great music actually. Chino Moreno on other projects is another great listen if and when you get to them. He’s got his own sound... Check out Team Sleep and Crosses
Deftones: Diamond Eyes Risk Battle Ax No Ordinary love The Chauffeur Lhabia Dai Da Flu Beauty School Poltergeist Teenager (idiot version) Headup Crenshaw Punch Combat Hole In The Earth Be Quiet And Drive (acoustic) Rocket Skates Deathblow Lovers Phantom Bride Simple Man
You MUST react to Crosses. I love Team Sleep so much....there's a LOT of demos from that project that are transcendent. But Crosses' album is very very strong from beginning to end. Start with the lead single.....The Epilogue. It's a new-wavey gothic pop masterpiece.
I've been a huge deftones fan since the beginning and to your point I would say that for the most part the fan base loves them for all they do but there definitely are some fans that like just the heavier or just the lighter stuff. I remember seeing them live on the tour for this album and they played a few softer songs in a row and some idiot next to me yelled out "NO MORE PUSSY SHIT!". I thought that was so stupid and in my opinion if you can't appreciate their different sounds then you're not a true fan.
7:48 lol......THIS(the day you posted, when I'm writing this) was the day the stock market plunged more than any day ever.... And a LOT of people are about to be laid off(temporarily??) very very soon. Me included. Most of us in fact.... Definitely not an "uninteresting event." We'll remember THIS day for sure.... Yeah.....I'm concerned. Stuck at home watching reaction videos for comfort. Yep. Fun times... But I'm genuinely glad your channel exists. Makes this awful time a bit easier to get through...
i sincerely hope you and the rest of the viewers of the channel navigate the treacherous waters the next few weeks/months hold for us all successfully and in good health, if my videos give you one minute of entertainment or moment to think of something else besides the world's plights then it's worth all the effort i put into them :)
I like the self-titled album alright. It's nowhere near as great as their best albums....but 50% of the songs are excellent. But....the 2 quieter/weirder songs are 2 of my all time favorite Deftones songs: this song....and Lucky You. Both those songs are just haunting... This one in particular is just so majestic and gorgeous harmonically. Absolutely adore it...
Something you said made me think of this band... which is a ridiculous band to think of in relation to Deftones... but have you heard much Barenaked Ladies? If not, another contender for reaction vids
lol yeah i have no clue what would take you to that band from deftones haha, i have heard of them and a lot of their singles from the 90s but nothing not on the radio and certainly nothing from the passed 15 years or so
a lot of people have suggested teenager the last few days without it ever coming up before so i may have to look into it, thanks for checking out the video :)
