Sometimes, a certain time passes without listening to them , because well, maybe I'm on the mood to listening another bands, but when after some time I hear them again is like coming home, I've been a fan since forever. Deftones 4 life!
durrell dee Props to you for appreciating real music and not limiting urself to that ubbuta ubbuta rap trash like most Teens ur age...gud for you!...👏👏👏...Rock it til the boobs fall off!!!
Can’t believe they released a B Sides and Rarities album and they didn’t even put their best B Side on it. Not putting Lovers on there was also a big miss.
The song wasn't included on the original release (white cover), but they put it on the red and black cover albums as a limited edition, so it wasn't really a b-side at that point.
This album is suck. The only really god song is change accoustic. How they just forget the accoustics from hawaii? Linus like? Damone? WHY THEY MAKE A DRIVE COVER.
LYRICS Blue star Shine your light down On everyone Cause I don't care They're soothing me with their lung Blue star Shine your light down Pierce for my face To heal my veins Right down on everyone Cause I don't care You're soothing me with their lungs It's more It's more Down Shine your light Shine your light down It's more It's more On everyone Cause I don't care You're soothing me with their lungs Blue star Shine your light Shine your light Shine your light down Blue star Down Blue star Shine down on everyone Cause I don't care You're soothing me with their lungs It's more
It's only on the special edition or whatever apparently, not on any of the streaming services. Always remember the album ending like this as a kid, than finding out it was only on a special release. Anyway, lucky we have RU-vid.
@@shuylife One thing I do with spotify is simply download the youtube video as an mp3 and play as a local file so I can at least listen through my usual playlists from my computer.
Reddit just sent me here on a nostalgia trip. Ohms will drop in a week. I'm spending that time listening back through all of Deftones releases. This song always seems to slip through the cracks. I'm super happy this track came up in discussion or I would have missed it.
@@velikynovgorod4358 I greatly enjoyed it. The entire band performed like a humming machine. I will say that the mixing was overhyped. Not bad, but not as good as I was expecting.
Everyone that loves Deftones loves them with the purest part of their heart ❤️ thank God I was introduced to this band when I was 13 years old I'm 41 now thank God I've been able to pass it down to my daughter who's now going to be 19 next month ❤️
No offense to Back To School, but I'd take that trade ANY day. The Boy's Republic is amazing, and brings back some pretty cool memories of a very different time in my life...
@@Deftonesdsm man I wish I knew back then of the limited versions as I was a big fan of around the fur and picked up wp on release day. I did get the download of back to school for those of us early wp buyers but would have preferred this awesome song instead.
@@sharinglungs3226 yeah i wish i still had my certificate for the limited releases. Boys republic may be one of my top Deftones songs. Yet i remember when 7words music vid came out on much music. But im old
Oh man. I've been looking for this song since my horrid sister broke my red pony CD and all I could find was the live or acoustic version. Thank you Paul David, you just my life a little better :)
Yea, for sure it is. I love Stephen’s riffs, he is not the best in terms of agility, but he is such a creative guy. He is one of my biggest influences when I’m creating musics.
I use to play this on the acoustic guitar for my daughter when she was 1 year old she's 19 now and I just lost my older brother of 4 years to cancer he left behind all of us and 2 daughter's 11 and 7 and their mom died 5 years before. My heart is broken 💔
Some people might be closed off hateful little pricks but i feel you bub. This song brings you to an emotional place. Hope shits going well though. Hopefully these other fuckbags grow up and learn some damn compassion before they start to procreate..
I bought a second version of White Pony to get this song back in the day when RU-vid, Spotify and other online services weren't available. I feel out-of-date and I'm only 28!
+Necro Orcen And I'm proud to be one of those teens lol. I started listening to them towards the beginning of 2015, and by the end of that year I got all of their studio albums (I'm still looking for the 2-Disc collection of their B-Sides & Rarities release though). If you haven't heard it (which I'm sure you probably have), they released a new song "Prayers/Triangles" yesterday for their new album "Gore", which is coming out in April. Sounds pretty good to me. Has a similar ambiance to their stuff on Koi No Yokan, sort of like "Entombed", to be honest. I'm definitely ready for it! I remember their first song I really sat down and listened to was "Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away)", and it blew me away. I never heard of anything like that, and I became addicted to them in no time. What's funny was I always heard of the band since I was little, but never payed attention or decided to listen to them (big mistake) and I ended up stumbling upon their Around The Fur album online and checking it out. Within the month I went to Best Buy and bought it for $8 new (totally worth it). I just wish there were more kids my age that actually liked them and just rock/metal in general, it seems like everywhere I go they like country/rap/pop and it makes me go crazy. I personally can't stand it, a lot of it seems similar or the same, while rock and metal is so diverse and has birthed many different kinds of bands and sub-genres (some good/bad, but I won't get into that). Plus it has REAL emotion and passion in the music, it isn't fake like a lot of popular artists out today that are making millions because of the younger generations listening to it. And all the while they don't bother having an open mind and listening to something else that isn't currently trending or topping the charts. ANYWAYS, sorry for rambling, just wanted to say that there really are people out there that are still getting into them and know what great music is.
Necro Orcen Thanks man (and yeah, I can understand why your family might have been concerned with the whole Chino thing lol but I have to admit he's definitely a badass, I can only imagine how cool he was back then when they were the shit with the younger gen). And I can understand the thing about them not making a really complete album. I have a lot of faves by them across all their albums, but it's definitely noticeable how much they've really changed over the years. I appreciate everything they've released and treat it like gold, but their most recent albums (except Diamond Eyes, I can listen to that top to bottom anyday tbh) like SNW, KNY, and now Gore, have drove far away (bad pun attempt) from what they were in the beginning (for example, it took me a very good while to get into "Entombed" off of KNY since it's probably the poppiest thing they've ever written). Not saying that's a bad thing, every band has to evolve to survive, but to put it out there, Around The Fur will always be my fave lol. But I'm sad to say I haven't seen them live yet, I NEED TO BADLY. I'm upset even more b/c I couldn't see them play in St.Louis back in August last year because it was the start of the school year and I couldn't go (it was the start of my junior year, and holy hell it's been difficult compared to my other years; Trig is a PAIN IN THE ASS; also something funny/cool I did was play White Pony on the first day back to school: "Cuz back in school, we are the leaders of it all"). I'm probably gonna have to wait until later this year to see them now, but either way, I'm sure it will be worth the wait. I've been watching a lot of recent live performances by them and Chino seems to be doing much better with his vocals, and the band seems to be a well oiled machine. Anyways, thanks for the talk lol. If it makes you feel any better, I'm gonna start looking for some Deftones merch and show it off at school lol. I've seen some pretty cool stuff online, I just gotta make a decision.(Also that reminds me, I was on vacation with my parents in Gatlinburg, TN, I think, and we went into this record store and they had a Deftones bumper sticker that had the letters printed on billiards balls on a pool table, it looked cool but I'm not much of a pool player lol)
The intro to this song is awesome!! Even though it is pretty simple in technical terms, I can and have listened to it 10 times in a row before just to hear when the drums come in. I fucking love this band, and have for about 20 years!
This song dropped me to my MP3 full of Torrents of Deftones and Korn... School day's, going to and back... I think this sensation it's common to all of us independently of the country that we are.. saludos desde Argentina everybody 🤘🤘
Yeah, definitely, this is more similar to Isle Of The Cheetah whilst I find Knife Prty more similar to Little Dipper. Hum is much more my cup of tea, still like Deftones.
I came across this because I got the album on digital by... uhh... certain ways and saw "limited edition" (obviously I am gonna buy the album just whenever I am financially able to). I'm too early on my deftones phase. Guess I was lucky, this is a very great song
This one is dedicated to all of the limited edition White Pony owners who got their records early when it came in the red jewel case with the little great grey piece of paper telling you what number the copy was that you just bought. Those were good days, but thankfully the Deftones still put out good music even if the days now aren’t so good.
I traveled all the way from Tongoy to Santiago (summer hollyday time, February) almost 6 hour bus travel just to see Deftones back in 2001 when they played in Chile....White Pony was HUGE for our generation (im currently 37 years old) and the ESTADIO CHILE was full packed. MTV ruled back then, Digital Bath and specially Back to school were massive hits...and in order to listen to songs like Boys Republic you MUST buy another version of the record 8red and black if im not mistaken). The so called "new/agro metal" scene was at the peak of its powers, SOAD put Toxicity our there and Korn also came to Chile a year later (March 2002), and bands like Limp Biszkit, Papa Roach, P.O.D etc, were relevant back there......but as they said, quality always prevails....and 17 yers later, DEFTONES remains a huge force, relevant, with a loyal Chilean fanbase who already sold out 3 shows for next month (9 thousand people will show up to see them).
so 12 years ago the Deftones had the White Pony Tour. After the show my buddies and I went to the hotel they were staying. We bumped into them and had a chance to chat with them at the hotels entrance (we got pictures, guitar picks). One of the best nights in my life. I got to chat with Chi, mainly about his spoken word project, awesome guy, and since we both where same shoe size he agreed to trade shoes. Guess which are the only shoes I havent thrown into the garbage this past 12 years?
I remember tuning down my guitar for the first time to play the white pony album. One of the best rock albums ever done, always wished this one made the cut!
You know this is one of Deftones' best 5 songs of all time and we need a proper single version release on Spotify cmon man. This and Say IT ain't So cover. Cmon guys.
Blue star Shine your light down On everyone Cause I don't care They're soothing me with their lung Blue star Shine your light down Pierce for my face To heal my veins Right down on everyone Cause I don't care You're soothing me with their lungs It's more It's more Down Shine your light Shine your light down It's more It's more On everyone Cause I don't care You're soothing me with their lungs Blue star Shine your light Shine your light Shine your light down Blue star Down Blue star Shine down on everyone Cause I don't care You're soothing me with their lungs It's more
I still own the RED version of the limited CD that was released at HMV in Canada that included this song. Not sure about other countries, but the limited edition version of the White Pony CD in Canada came out as either RED or BLACK. Deftones forever.
The Boys Republic is a boys correctional facility in my hometown of Chino, I still live there, and recently I showed a friend of mine whos been in prison for several years the deftones. He told me he met a woman at the Boys Republic who claimed to be the mother of the drummer of this awesome band.
The deftones have turned out to be one of rock/alternative music's finest bands they don't spread themselves to thin or blow there longevity out of the water. I almost wanna say modest. But that doesn't really describe them correctly. How about honest.....there music is one of the coolest sounding things I have ever heard.
Yeah they pretty much recoiled from fame in mid 2000s with white pony. Had few "pop" hits then again next album different direction. Im not fan of every album but every album has a song i like. But thats why they are great they always try new things or new songs genres something. From.party rock/punk/rap band to alternative underground heros. Ive loved em since i saw 7words music video in 94 i belive. I think it was 94. Either way im obsessed and Chino stephen and abe are my heros. R.i.p. Chi
