Jersh reacts to the song Xerces by Deftones.
*I'm deaf in my right ear which is why I'm not wearing headphones. I know, it's a bummer not to get the panning sounds. It's also been a bummer to only have one ear my whole life for lots of other reasons, like, playing telephone growing up, I was terrible at it. But, I'll be ok, and I'm getting both channels in the earbud, thanks for your concern :)

Space Rock - give Failure a listen! “Stuck on You” is probably the most accessible listen on their phenomenal album Fantastic Planet. (Ca. 1996). Thanks for the great content, as always!

I mentioned Failure in an earlier reaction and this song was definitely influenced by them as well as Hum. Interesting side-note Failure's Ken Andrews was actually in talks to produce this record when they were having issues with Bob Ezrin but they eventually mended fences and continued working with him (at least until later on when that happened again and Far's Shaun Lopez took over).

I never looked into it but the lyrics always reminded me of Marshall Applewhite's space cult that committed collective suicide so their souls could upload to a passing comet.

Please react to some "INCUBUS", they play different styles of music, here are some great songs : Hilikus, Version, New Skin, Nowhere Fast, Just a Phase, Zee Deveel, 4th mouvement of the Odyssey, Admiration, Rogues, Golden, In the Company of Wolves, Trust Fall, Familiar Faces. These songs that I suggested to U are so diverse, that U will think that there are different band here lol

@@yassineyassine5402 Totally! lol I love the whole Incubus catalogue but if I had to suggest two songs they would be A Certain Shade of Green and Dig. Brandons voice is up there with Jeff Buckleys for me personally.

@@silverthorn3791 Yes ! I totaly agree, there are so many songs, but after LG they kind play it in the safe side, no more experimentation, no more exploring new music territories 😦, but Incubus still one of my favorite Band, I hope that their new upcoming EP will be a return to the roots lol

i'm already familiar with most of incubus' hits unfortunately but they do have several albums with tracks i haven't heard so it's a possibility as well as the new album mentioned in the other replies here if they do have a new one coming out, thanks for the recommendation :)

I feel like Xerces is the name of the comet. The song is deep, deep AF but it’s not hard to understand. Picture an old soul indifferent to either living or dying, or being given the option to come back or stay after death and you could go either way because your soul is old af and you’re done being disappointed by everyone.

anybody else fully expect 'rats, rats, rats!' to immediately start? also, yes, space rock is a thing. lots of variations and tertiary genres as well, depending on your definitions. you won't be impressed by any vocals, but you should listen to HUM.

Pretty sure this song is about the death cult started by Marshall Applewhite. They killed themselves, en-masse back in the 90's, believing that the comet Hale-Bopp would take them away to the next level of being. Members of the cult lived an ascetic lifestyle, denying themselves human pleasures, and living a "frugal" life. The song kind of sounds like the struggle that one of these people may have been going through prior to their cult suicide..
