Defying a warning from China, a delegation of U.S. lawmakers met with the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, in northern India, on Wednesday, telling the Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader that the recent passage of U.S. legislation is a major step toward ensuring the self-determination of the Tibetan people.
Pictured: Members of the U.S. bipartisan congressional delegation, from left to right: Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, Rep. Gregory W. Meeks, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the Dalai Lama; Central Tibetan Administration political leader Sikyong Penpa Tsering, Rep. Michael McCaul, Rep. Jim McGovern, Rep. Ami Berra, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks pose for a group photo in Dharamsala, India, on June 19, 2024.

Buddhism is a peaceful religion and it was originated in India and spread to many South Asian countries. This religion doesn't believe in war and this was the reason China got advantage and occupied whole tibet. When China was occupying Tibet they took written statement from many countries including India and they did a huge mistake. India's neighbour is Tibet not China. As a Indian I am happy to see this development coz China don't respect territorial integrity of any nation surrounding them except Pakistan, who are slaves of China.

@@IHZALewishey pal, America only ever colonized Philippines and a few islands. First off Philippines and USA have record high relations that’s behind us. Second of all they are territories. That means like Guam or Puerto Rico for example. Piero Rico wants to become a state to gain independence. And after a survey was done on the island of Guam they said they actually liked being part of the US for safety reasons. That’s an inhabitant of guams own words not mine. Guam also had its economy boosted by being by in that position as well which they like. And don’t even talk about Liberia. That was a basically a country founded by African American slaves after they gained their freedom. They were not part of the US when they settled in Africa although they still kind of saw themselves as Americans. In other words they simply were a friendly nation to the US because they came from the US. But they did that on their own without help from the states. China on the other hand pushed Tibetans into India and falsely promised freedom of religion which they took away. They also took East Kazakhstan and there are literal camps. Now if you’re talking about the Native American genocide your right it was a horrible thing. The difference between the US and China is that we learn extensively of that grotesque past in order not to repeat it. We also create tiny nation states for tribes throughout the country which when combined can be bigger than Germany if I recall. In fact for one tribe it’s illegal to even touch them. They also get government support if they can prove themselves even 9% native. Does China teach about their genocide or the annexation of Tibet? NO. If anyone else is reading this ignore this man.

Yep! And it is recorded all over here... *CIA Tibetan Program* 1960-1975 As stated by Palden Wangyal, a veteran guerrilla fighter, the rebels were directly paid by the Americans to attack Chinese government facilities and installations in Tibet: _"Our soldiers attacked Chinese trucks and seized some documents of the Chinese government. After that, the Americans increased our pay scale"._ The Dalai Lama criticized this decision, saying it proved wholeheartedly that the US never did it to help the people of Tibet. *International lobbying* The 14th Dalai Lama was financially supported by the CIA *between the late 1950s and the mid-1970s, receiving $180,000 a year.* The funds were paid to him personally, although he used most of them for Tibetan government-in-exile activities such as funding foreign offices to lobby for international support. The Dalai Lama sought asylum in India, but the issues regarding Tibet and China received substantial attention from the press. Many protests erupted in response to the political conflicts between Tibet and China in countries including Burma, Pakistan, and Japan (and many more). *Although the Dalai Lama's pleas proved to be less effective with the passing of time, his office in New York did not cease to lobby several U.N. delegations for the Tibetan cause. Also, the Dalai Lama was aided by a former U.S. delegate to the U.N.* *Criticism* In his 1991 autobiography Freedom in Exile, the 14th Dalai Lama criticized the CIA for supporting the Tibetan independence movement *_"not because they (the CIA) cared about Tibetan independence, but as part of their worldwide efforts to destabilize all communist governments"._* In 1999, the Dalai Lama suggested that the CIA Tibetan program had been harmful to Tibet because it primarily served American interests, claiming *_"once the American policy toward China changed, they stopped their help ... The Americans had a different agenda from the Tibetans."_* The CIA Tibetan program was an anti-Chinese covert operation spanning almost twenty years. It consisted of *"political action, propaganda, paramilitary and intelligence operations"* facilitated by arrangements made with brothers of the 14th Dalai Lama, who himself was allegedly not initially aware of them. *The stated goal of the program was "to keep the political concept of an autonomous Tibet alive within Tibet and among several foreign nations".* The program was administrated by the CIA, and unofficially operated in coordination with domestic agencies such as the Department of State and the Department of Defense. Previous operations had aimed to strengthen various isolated Tibetan resistance groups, which eventually led to the creation of a paramilitary force on the Nepalese border consisting of approximately 2,000 men. By February 1964, the projected annual cost for all CIA Tibetan operations had exceeded US$1.7 million. The program ended after President Nixon visited China to establish closer relations in 1972. *The Dalai Lama criticized the cessation of the program, declaring that this proved that there were ulterior motives than helping the Tibetan people.*

Yes, according to your masters at Langley, USA, they are.....
