Defying Gravity - Rachel Tucker - Last Show in London 28/01/2017 - HD Audio Only I did not record this. Uploaded for entertainment purposes only. Enjoy!
Everyone around me in the stalls was on their feet as she finished that last high note. It was fantastic. I hope she glimpsed a brief look at the standing ovation she got before the lights went out.
I WISH she’d done that battle cry when I saw her in NYC back in 2015. No such luck. Her performance was still outstanding. This sounds AMAZING!!! Rachel is up there for me, I think she is one of the BEST Elphabas in the history of the show.
If you ever see the audio for this, she blew a kiss toward the audience instead of thrusting her broom forward! It was amazing, I was in the audience :) forever my favourite Elphaba💚
Sorry to burst your bubble, but in this video which is the same defying gravity she did a broom thrust ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x7Qy__PiQlU.html
They already are. Universal are producing it along with the original creators of Wicked The Musical. I hope she gets it myself, I would want Idina Menzel but I don't think her voice could do as well as she did in Wicked.
It was truly amazing to be in the audience for this show I don't think any Wicked performance I see after this will even be half as good. She'll always be my favourite Elphaba, having seen the show a few times, every scene just seemed more special, and the riffs were insane. If anyone has video of any of the songs that night I would love you forever.
Can only imagine what the atmosphere would have been like for this show. This lady has one of the most incredible voices I’ve ever heard. She is elphaba. So sad she’s left :(
Thanks for posting this. Unfortunately it doesn't do the show justice :) we were lucky enough to see this performance and cant imagine it ever being done better. It was absolutely, err, WICKED.
Tbh she is one of my favorite Elphabas besides Willemijn Verkaik. Also after hearing some of her performances, I kinda have a little bit of her vocal skill in me now...DEM GROWLS
I still cant get over cast change and how incredible Rachel's performance was! Rachel was my first Elphie and I am so glad I was lucky enough to see this performance!
So I know this is over a year later, but I am so overcome with emotion listening to this again after hearing her words in her final speech, in which she says that in this role it is her job to relay to the audience what it feels like to be discriminated against. I am weeping and overcome with emotion listening to her sing this, because every single word, spoken or sung, has so much feeling and meaning behind it. I had the privilege of seeing her at the end of her London run and she was brilliant, and quite pregnant mind you. Thank you, Rachel, for everything you brought to Elphaba, and for touching so many of us.
She was pregnant in this?? I’m visually impaired so can’t see if there’s any footage in this I can only hear the audio. But if she’s pregnant then that’s totally insane! I mean it’s bloody brilliant anyways but wow.
So amazing! She will always be one of my favorites. So powerful, clear and consistent. I wish the audience has waited like two more seconds to scream. I would have liked to hear the end of that riff!
if she doesn't play Elphaba in the upcoming wicked film i will be so mad!!! she is the greatest actress to take on this role and will forever by my favourite
Rachel is hands down the best Elphaba. Privileged to see her several times and nobody else I’ve seen even comes close. Can we also just take a moment to appreciate Suzie Mathers, who was an exceptional - my personal favourite - Galinda. She doesn’t get anywhere near enough love.
I actually heard it live when I went to London, like tree years ago. And I felt so lucky when I saw this video and knew how Rachel Tucker was so better than another elphies. I wanna say thank you to Rachel for staying at the theater until I went to see 'Wicked'😊😊
she makes me cry every goddamn time. She's the only Elphie I've seen live, 1st with Louise Dearman, 2nd with Gina Beck, and her voice is so special to me. Thanks for uploading this.
I was lucky enough to be here at this performance and can honestly say it was the best live performance I've ever witnessed. Will she ever come back 😭?
Rachel, whom I was lucky enough to see in New York two years ago in 2015, is AMAZING. I felt very lucky seeing it with her. It was like when I saw it with Idina in 2003, the same kind of feeling. I think Idina, Rachel and Kerry are my top three, because they each brought a unique spin to the character. Not to mention those vocals. I would actually like to see Rachel play Elphaba in the film version. Megan Hilty is my vote for the Glinda.
I was lucky enough to see her on Broadway and fell in love with her voice. At that point, I didn't even know about her. But wow, is she even human? The notes, the voice, the pitch... FANTASTIC.
I have always had a great envy for people living in London or New York.. I come from Sweden and we have musicals yes, we made Chess and had a really great version of Phantom of the Opera with Peter Jöback. However i saw this in London on a fluke with just Rachel Tucker and it is by my standard the only real musical i have ever watched, i had goose bumps throughout the entire performance, Rachel is just pure talent, so silly and expressive and i would give much to go back and see more musicals with that level of production. Amazing, i just want more.
Thank you for sharing!! this is fantabulous!! Is it possible to share with me the full audio of this performance?? I really love to hear the whole performance of this cast of wicked uk (rachel and suzie). Hope to hear from you. Thanks! have a lovely day ahead. :)
Elphaba should fly out into the audience. London version is lame. Want to see a better version where they team up and elphaba doesnt abandon her cause at the end
She's still awesome... I've watched her twice in 2011 n I was hoping she would stay on till end of this year when I'm back in London but........ Her voice is phenomenal.... Best elphie ever.... Sorry Idina is not match for this girl ....
Those riffs are amazing... not sure whether I like the growls or not. She is my second fave after Idina, unfortunately no one can do it better than the original cast in my opinion. Still love it though.
What is the band for this? Live strings and brass? Or multiple keyboard players? Id imagine piano and 2 keyboard players. Or Click tracks with those parts on(doubt it with all the rubato)?
@@nezkeys79 Uh I don't know, I'm really not familiar with those terms. But you can watch a video called WICKED Music: Conductor on youtube, it might give you an idea.
@@unemilifleur those terms? It just means actual humans playing violin/viola/cello/double bass or trumpet/trombone/alto sax/tenor sax etc as oppose to keyboard players (keys 1 keys 2 keys 3 etc) covering those instruments digitally to cut costs
