Since when has Maya have had epic romances? Her first boyfriend had a plethora of mental illnesses and ended up by killing himself the second had daddy issues and was constantly getting in trouble she ended up taking the blame the third ended up in a gang got kicked out for selling drugs she caught him squatting and he now lives with her. To all the people who support the Tristan/Yates relationship, remember this. 1.) Regardless of love, it was statutory rape. If Yates truly loved and respected Tristan, he would have waited until Tristan was old enough to have that level of relationship. 2.) Yates attempted to molest Winston. And Winston is the only student we KNOW he tried this with. There could be others. If Yates truly loved Tristan, why would he seek sexual favors from other minors.

no offense but Tristan was the most toxic friend ever to Maya, like its not even funny how trash he treated her. it still pisses me off to this day how in the end Maya still had to apologize and Tristan played the victim card, like no sweetie, you're just a manipulator. he only became a slightly likable character midway through the next class.
@Yules once again I try very hard to be sympathetic towards everyone and see the big picture however Tristan, from the very start, has treated maya like she was literal scum. I mean before he was literally just tori’s friend who would drop maya if she told him too, and when she leaves he hops on over to the next person to cling to. He legit then dropped maya the second he could when he first met zoe, and the only reason why he returned to maya in my honest opinion was bc Zoe went after the boy that he liked too (miles). Maya’s literal boyfriend committed suicide the year prior and he’s acting as if she’s had a glorious love life which is just like, the audacity in him to even tell that to her face? he has never once snapped at Zoe like he did at maya, nor did he ever treat Zoe like trash while they were friends like he did w maya. I want to be compassionate towards him due to his entire situation , however being gay doesn’t excuse being a jack ass. And in the end once again he still hadn’t even seen the fault in his actions, and it was maya that had to take the whole blame of their falling out and he got off Scott free. It all just left such a horrible taste in my mouth.
Tristan overall is a shitty character and is Narcissistic as hell he only ever cares about him self. I was so happy that. Bianca but him in his place in his very first scene. In S11 he couldn't stand Tori and Zig were in a relationship kept getting jealous that he was the 3rd wheel. In the talent contest he wanted to do his thing and didn't want to come to a compromise to include Zig. He even tried to Sabotage their relationship. In S12 he used Maya to try and Catfish Cam which was very creepy and I hate that Maya went along with it. All he ever focuses on is finding his true love that there is nothing else to him aside from that. There have been seldom moments of him sticking up for his friends but 95% of the time it's about him and getting his way or else he throws some dramatic fit like a Child and storms off. People love to say that Miles used Tristan and treated him like trash but I think it was the other way around Tristan just wanted to fulfill his dream of having his one true love that he used Miles for that. I HATE that Miles and Tristan got together Miles deserved so much better not trash like Tristan. Tristan never genuinely cared about Miles heck I don't think he genuinely cared for any one but him self. It's mainly "Every one has to conform to my needs and has to adjust to it accordingly". It was so laughable that they made him the president in the new class. It's the writers fault for not giving the character any growth or depth. I wish they killed him off in that bus crash. I'll go there and say Tristan is the WORST character that degrassi ever had and I hated that no one ever stood upto him and called him out on his bullshit.
I used to like Tristan in season 11 and 12 but as his time on the show went on, I saw how awful he was. From being toxic with Maya, to disrespecting Miles and basically telling him that bisexuality doesn’t exist. If I met someone like Tristan in real life I would not want to be their friend.

Maya did the right thing. However, I feel Tristan’s pain. He has been trying so hard to find love in his life. It’s not easy for him when the teacher turns out to be a pervy. His jealousy towards Maya is understandable. Maya has never had to try to have guys falling for her. She gets them effortlessly. However, easy come easy go. She can’t manage to keep her boyfriends. Regardless, i’m happy coz Miles and Tristan are endgame in Next Class.
I wouldn’t say him and Miles are endgame since he cheated on Tristan with Lola while he was in a coma. I know Tristan basically accepted it at the end but still… that’s pretty fucked up. 😭😭

Miles does love- he's not very mature or emotionally stable, but everyone can love, including Miles. Tristan and Miles have a lot of believable chemistry, and they have always had a bit of sexual tension between them. I'm just glad they're acting upon it.
chill out I just don't think that Miles deserves someone as good as Tristan. Miles has a lot of things to work through before he can really be there for anybody. Tristen deserves someone constant who he can rely on.
You have a point there but I feel like Miles has definitely become more reliable throughout Next Class because of Tristan. I feel like they unconsciously rely on each other anyways. Tristan was what got Miles through everything- all his really dark times were when Tristan wasn't there, and at least Tristan is emotionally stable, so he's reliable for Miles. But Miles is a good person and he tries.
I know mostly everyone in the comments shipped Tristan and Mr. Yates, but you have to understand that Maya did do the right thing. I get where Tristan is coming from but what he was doing was wrong. The fact that he never talked to her again after this was really sad to me. Like Tristan needs a serious reality check if he thinks him and Mr. Yates hooking up was love. Like it's so obvious Mr. Yates took advantage of Tristan like Maya said.
I don't think Tris was mad about the Maya putting a stop to it but more so the fact that she promised she wouldn't tell and told anyways. He trusted her and she broke that. I'd be able to see why my best friend did what they did but it wouldn't make breaking my trust any better and I'd still be mad.

Honestly its better that Tristian and Yates ended then and there. Even if it wasn’t illegal, he still a grown man taking advantage of a young boy and grooming him into thinking that he actually cares about him when in reality he’s just using him. Poor Tristan was too naïve to see that. Even if it was none of Mayas business, but at the end of the day she was just trying to protect him. What if one day Tristan was uncomfortable with Mr. Yates and Yates didn’t take no for an answer? The Guy is clearly bigger and stronger than Tristan. This “relationship” could lead to some serious trauma that could affect Tris for the rest of his life. Cam killed himself, Tori moved away, Katie is doing something for soccer, and Tristan ended their friendship. Maya's starting to become buddy's with Grace, but she can't really talk to her about her problems cause Grace is a smart ass lol. It would be really cool if they brought Tori back in Degrassi! Tori and Tristan were the only people Maya could talk to.
I hated Tristan’s character SO MUCH in the next generation. He got much better in the next class but he was so abusive to Maya in tng whenever she tried to do anything to help him.
Tristen and Maya only became friends cause of Tori and after she left it was like ehhh Tristen and Zoe are better friends and Mayas better friends with Grace
tristan is a really good actor, esp. in this scene, but i'm surprised at the quality of the acting from most of the cast considering it's a teen drama, theyre all really good
I understand why Maya had to tell somebody about what Yates was doing to Tristan, but she shouldn't have gone behind his back and told Simpson. That's betraying his trust. She should've just talked to Tristan first, and tried to convince him to stop seeing Yates. If push came to shove, she should tell Tristan that if he doesn't stop sleeping with Yates, she would have to tell somebody. At least warn him, or give him an ultimatum.
This was such an amazing scene and you can feel it too! Tristan treated Maya horribly. If I was her, I would have done the same thing, if someone is mad at you for protecting them, they are not your friends
He was a teacher if Tristan was 17/18 or whatever the legal age in Canada is it would be okay. Yates however knew it was wrong and groomed and seduced him. Maya saved that boys life

This might be an unpopular opinion because a lot of people dislike Maya but tbh she was treated by trash by every single one of her friends and boyfriends. She always had to be there for all of them, but when she needed people she was too much. She deserved better..

There is Degrassi Next class (which is the one on Netflix) then there is Degrassi Next Generation which is the older one and Tristan with white hair is from seasons 13-14, Degrassi Next Generation is only on RU-vid

But still, any decent friend would do what Maya did, because they care about their friend, i know i would do the same as Maya and then let them be pissed it wouldn´t matter because hopefully eventually they would see that i was only doing it for their own good, any good teacher or better yet any decent person who is Yates´ age wouldn´t be in a relationship with someone who is a minor, that makes them a phedophile, though i´m an adult and so is my friends, but if we were that age and one of my friends was having an inapropriate relationship with their teacher and they were asked to keep it a secret then the problem would be with the teacher and not the friend.
Honestly, what did she expect? She completely deserved this anger. Yes, the Yates relationship was wrong but it could have been handled differently. I find Maya to be the most annoying character of the entire degrading series and that’s saying a lot. I really don’t feel bad for her at all.
