This may be TMI, but Dehd loner in particular has really got me through these past few months. My mom's schizophrenic and has been having a psychotic episode for too long (I'm her caretaker). I just blast their music and pretend I'm "running from my cards" and that "I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine" thank you guys.
Glad dehd got their chance at KEXP. Seems to me, with very few exceptions, KEXP performances capture artists on top of their gigs. dehd's 'Loner' stands out... such catchy tunes, Jason & Eric shine, and Emily's charm inescapable. So GREAT to see them in this kinda setting. Thanks. Have them back! With 'Letter' and 'Lucky'?
FriedIcecreamIsAReality brands like Kramer, Jackson, and Dean were used by a lot of late 80s and early 90s metal bands. Hair metal, trash, and other faster guitar playing. “Shredder Strat” or “Super Strat” were a common nickname to these kind of guitars.
Guitarist is way ahead of his time, as he played Super Strat (which is usually used to shred in metal) instead of some Jaguar, Mustang or Jazzmaster or other kind of hipsterish guitar.
this is the first thing that i noticed, but you can play anything on it, why not. It is a bit like SG, what is most people idenitfy with ACDC, but you can play indie on it, why not.
Listen call me dramatic but Dehd saved me. This past year's just completely turned my already awful mental state over on its head and just this amazing, beautiful recording alone helps tune it out and helps me calm down. This band's made me feel so much love and energy in times where it feels like I don't have any.
I absolutely love you guys...I get a feeling of nostalgia as I hear so many of my favorite bands in your style, vocals and melodies... so awesome! I was born in 1980 and grew up in (real) punk, grunge, alternative, classic rock... your a force to be reconed with and way better than a lot of the mainstream crap playing now... love the vibe you put off! Thank you for making kick ass music!
I’m going to see them in October in SF I’m so excited! I found about them over 2020 pandemic and really enjoyed their music. Makes me feel like I’m in a movie 🥲🥲❤️❤️
Cool band! I can see multiple hints of 80's Alternative/Post-Punk inspiration...but for the life of me(call me an old Gen X'er), I've never seen anyone play a Kramer for a 'clean' sound...ever...
I love that KEXP is doing this. Personally, I didn't need so many different angles of the players. This group in particular is interesting enough in one take. Still enjoyable.
I could totally see why people could hate them, I hate to say I found them kinda annoying but by the end of the set I've been playing it on repeat non stop, awesome stuff!!
A damn fine performance, great sound, great music, fun! (I accidentally found Dehd from their "Lucky" song/video; so great!) Somebody else below wrote it, but I like the words... "kind of surfy, but new".
Like so many others, I 'discovered' Dehd in 2020 with Flowers Of Devotion. Since then I've managed to catch them live here in Bristol, UK and am going to see them again on the 16th November.
It's so cool to listen to Emily for the first time, especially here! I've been following her for a while through instagram, she's a fantastic illustrator and tattoo artist
Eric Balla is revolutionary, everything about him is a juxtaposition, makes his playing more powerful. I want that guitar now and I never would’ve wanted it before
First song reminds me of that SNL Christmas song with Horatio Sanz, Chris Kattan, Jimmy Fallon and Tracy Morgan. "I don't care whatcha mama says, christmas time is neeear" She even stole their dance moves.
this band is fucking amazing, fabulous, love their vibe. I know they hate being called/compared to 80s and surf. But it's so there! GenX will relate to them. Totes feel a Siouxie and the Banshees vibe! xox
