Dehydrating green onions/spring onions to create your own onion powder is a great way to use and store any extra green onions. Call them green onions, spring onions, scallions or bunching onions, creating your own spices is incredibly easy!
With the aid of a dehydrator and spice grinder or coffee grinder and some time, lets make Green Onion Powder!
DEHYDRATED GREEN ONION POWDER
1/2 bunch of green onions or more
Wash and dry green onions.
Slice thinly and arrange in a single layer on as many dehydrator sheets as needed.
Dehydrate at 52C/125F for 6 - 10 hours or until dry.
Place 2 or 3 tbsp. of dried green onions into the grinder and process into a powder.
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Use within 6 months for maximum freshness.
Use as you would use any onion powder. It will be milder than store bought onion powder, so you may need to increase the amount you use slightly.
