The garden is producing well for us and we are getting food put away for the winter. Today's video show how to dehydrate okra in our Cabella's dehydrator to add to soup recipes later.
Please save your back by finding a spot where you can sit and process foods! I had the same issue. We have to learn to work smarter as we get older, and take care of these old bodies!🤣🤣 You are such a blessing! Thank you!
I prefer mine like Sprouts and Whole Foods do it which is length wise... and they are SO EXPENSIVE just to add... so will try this. Love the bucket at your feet... our chickens would love it.
Chickens love this time of yr..getting all our scraps...lol..I fry mine like you do ever since I seen your video last yr. Mine and Don's favorite way. Grandkids like me to pickle theirs..great harvest your getting. Stay well hugs
I just saw on facebook where someone cut the pods in half, drizzled oil and put in 425 degree oven for 15 minutes. I think ill try that soon. I need to pickle some, but i don't want dozens if jars, only enough for family gatherings.
Thank you, I've never thought about dehydrating Okra. I guess I'll try it next year as we are getting our first freeze tomorrow, early for my part of the country. Have you tried putting some small risers under your stand to raise it up and maybe help your back. You may also want to change up with a Rocker Slicer/ Chopper and then back to a knife to save repetition tiring yourself out.
You don't know how much I wish I had found your videos a long time ago. I love okra but my husband does not. They get freezer burnt if too long in the freezer . How do you use the dehydrated okra If you please?
I'm later finding this video, but looking for ways other than freezing or pickling to preserve okra. I noticed you have your dehydrator outside, but I wondered what climate you live in. We have very high humidity in our Deep South location, so thinking that keeping mine inside - though be nice to keep the heat outside - would be best. So are you in a less humid location?
I'm in a humid summer environment. I don't want the heat in my house, so I dehydrate outside. I pray attention, and as so as the dehydrator stops, I'm getting the product out of the dryer and into closed containers. I really like having the dried okra. I put it in soups, mostly
I live in the Ozarks and I am looking for Homesteaders to guide me on my own journey. I have not farmed very much so having someone in my area to follow in their planting would help me because of our seasons. Do you live in the Ozarks? I live southwest of Branson.
