what about the formation of sucrose from fructose and glucose? Both carbons have 2 oxygen when forming the glycosidic bond. Which carbon will lose OH and which carbon will lose H?

I watch so many of these videos, and I think it's time I thank you for all the help you have provided. You have helped me understand pysio, chemistry, and bio so much better! So many ah-ha moments!

An easier way of saying it would be, after the nucleophillic attack of the OH on one glucose molecule to the #1 C on the other molecule, the hydroxy group leaves and immediately grabs the third proton to form water and that's it. Water is formed with no outside interference. Of course in real life, that is not always the case but it is easier to be taught.

How come khan still has over 2 million subs but only gets like 1K views and 2 comments? What happened......?

I guess people are subscribing to show appreciation for him doing this. Obviously people would click the video they seek help for or that is related to the course they are doing. So the low views on recent videos is expected and will only increase if people are tackling this topic. The high subscribers are there because he was all over the news, Bill Gates shouted him out, Google is funding him etc.

wait, so when the oxygen attaches to the carbon, what happens to the hydrogen that was attached to it? (to the oxygen)

....? I have question sir. Why they call starch for chain of glucose in plants and glycogen for chain of glucose in our liver? Are they have different molecular structure? If it is, can you show me how are they different?

Dae Hwan Kim Glycogen is highly branched while starch less branched than glycogen.
