Uncle Neely from Thee Pregame Show breaks down what's really behind Nick Saban's accusations against Jackson State and discusses Deion Sanders' reaction.
I understand your point, but this was not ignorance. Saban KNEW what he was saying. He did the thing that white people do when they feel that Blacks have come far enough, they lie and use their code language.
I can see why Saban, talking to his boosters might want to say what he said. Basically ' Ya'll better cough up some more cash to compete with all the Texas oil money". But people in glass houses should not throw stones. BUT why he had to bring Coach Prime into the mix was just stupid. Just sour grapes for Prime scoring the #1 high school recruit in the country over him.
Man Nick could have told his boosters or whatever behind close doors. Dude a sore freaking loser! Dude wasn’t even committed to Alabama, he was going to Florida State
Bama really needs a cornerback thats why, lol... ahhh, it hurts for me to see this cause I'm a Bama fan, but I can't support Coach Saban on this one. He done went and put both feet in his mouth this time.
I learn so much from these two brothers. Well spoken and done with class. I bleed orange and green, #FAMU, but I love the fact that JSU is in the spotlight again. Thanks Nick Saben. LOL
As a proud JSU alum, Thank you #FAMU and #ASU HBCU FAMILY. The exposure is for all of us. HBCU'S are regaining the heat, the kitchen is getting too hot for Saban.
@@torih.5809 As a Black senior citizen man, I'm proud of ALL HBCU alumni. And for the current students I am also proud of you as well. Good luck in your studies and GOD bless all of you.
Saban is a good coach, but he’s a douche bag. Just look how he quit on the Dolphins…..he’s another f’ing Spurrier, great college coach but couldn’t hack it in the pros.
Ignorance and bigotry will always be live and well in America. I am so proud of Coach Prime! The enemy is always threatened by your light and grâçe. Black athletes have every right to choose any HBCUs or college of their own FREE WILL. Coach Saban sounds like sour grapes 🍇😂 May God continue to bless Deion Sanders and protect him underneath God's loving wings...
@@jamirbingham4101 Bruh, you are exactly 💯 on that reply. I've been saying that exact same thing. Not so long ago they didn't want us at their schools. Once we became superior athletes, now they want to make money off our children's backs. How many titles would Saban without the black players? Every athlete who's made it to the pros in any sport needs to rally HBCU's to bring our student athletes home and keep our money and hard work in our HBCU communities.
@Bob Baker, I suggest you sit this discussion out. Go on the sidewalk…Watch and Learn. You Obviously are not prepared to participate in this conversation. COACH PRIME Understands beyond what is Seen! He has INSIGHt not just Eyesight.
I'm proud of how coach prime sets the standard... and how things are snowballing into fruition... when you do things the right way .. the light always shines on you
Why is it salacious when we come on the stage with them. We get accused of doing what they've always done for years. No evidence of what Saban said , how about courage, character, staying connected, to our own without compromise.
Shout out to Jackson State, Tennessee State, Grambling University! With the renewed focus on the greatness of these programs, you know the majority programs are scared.
@@BAKER22-l4u Saban sleeping with you or a family member? Because he must've shown you the receipts. And it speaks volumes to a man's character when his assistant coach of 5 years has bags of dirt on that ol' white. Mofo kept getting best players and kept winning, and now he's whinning, moaning, and bitching about players going other way? Lol. Go cry in his bosom, Bob.
Thanks Bro Neely for well articulated insight; that needed to be aired on ESPN. It’s not about the bag, it’s about the love. Let’s continue to espouse this belief to draw our students to HBCUs.🙏🏽
I love this, we're showing the transparency of why we choose to invest in our culture and people's future. People usually fear what they don't understand and simply react. Hopefully, these types of conversations will enlighten the ignorant.
The ncaa tried to destroy SC cause Reggie Bush put his parents in a home while player's have been getting paid $$ for years and nothing happens, Fred Taylor just admitted taking 50,000 from Georgia then went to Florida, any sanctions coming? Hypocrisy at it's finest.
I love when he says the athletes at hbcu are loved and cheered on in a "safe space". Those people at the power 5 schools could give a shit about Black players.
The idea of Black people coming together on Projects, Issues or gathering has always been viewed with suspicion and hate. (Never forget Black Wall Street, Rosewood, Wilmington, etc., people living in their "safe-spaces" until hate emerged)
Damn really tho most players are black wtf is racist about 80 or 90 percent of every power 5 teams are black. He just saying a power 5 is better and harder Competition so y does a 5 star want to go play for a weak school. Coach prime is the man tho that why people want to come there especially hunter to learn under the greatest corner in nfl history.
@@talkingben8015 sure.. they also use to force slaves to fight each other to the death for money and sport. I’m sure they appreciated the money they won them. But, i can guarantee they did not love or care for them. Because the team is predominately black means nothing. They are simply just great athletes and any schools only want to win.
Black parents can turn the political/social order upside down in this country if all their sons/daughters who are athletes at the the top 20 power schools transfers out to HBCUs.
@@juinxxviii624 I can't speak for those players or their families. I also don't put all people in a box. You may be right all I can do is hope. I would like to see players give HBCUS a shot.
The best way to get them to respect the HBCUs is for star black athletes to attend. Stop wanting to be apart of what they have going. The NFL gone go wherever the talent is….let it be an HBCU.
Prime, you are going to be Attack from all corners, being Pro,you build the house in the ATL,saw u in the Zone with AR,lol, situation with your Corvette,Still ,"You Stand"then The Cowboys, and personal affairs with spouse,,continue to defend what you stand for and Your Beliefs, any time person of Color does this ,He or She will most definitely be Attack,Be Bless Prime
Once again, props to Brother Carr and Brother Neely for providing the pure, uncut Funk, aka Da Bomb! Once more black folks realize just how much power we have, we can become the sovereign people all humans we designed to be.
Deion is the father figure MOST of these young men never had. 80% Single parent mothers raising children in our community take the data and put it inside 75% BM football and basketball and MOST is correct. I can’t stand the fact that we’re not allowed to expect and want more for our own without a benevolent agenda outside black excellence. In the next 20-30 years they’ll see what black excellence really looks like in finance and business not just sports!
Just found this show and subscribed. These takes are the same at my dinner table. Here for it. Really appreciate the lived expertise y'all sharing, and the honest commentary. Soft bigotry of low expectations. Right on the mark. NS is yt mad.
My parents both graduated from JSU and my niece graduated from there a few weeks ago. Some of my best memories are the Jackson State vs. Alcorn games as a child. We played the game as my mom transitioned in November. My children and I will attend the game this year in her honor. JSU games are a whole experience and vibe, unmatched. 💙
Keep it up Dion (Coach Prime )and the Jackson State University Family... I thank God for you all... Continue to do what is right because that's what's going to give you the victory🏆 I've always been a fan of Dion Sanders Sr. I like his personality, but most importantly his Faith in God🌹
When the haters can no longer hate they lie, the big boys feel threaten this generation of kids are thinking on their own they see the world as it truly is. no if's and's or but's about it.
Bob Baker, some people do hate or lie when they want something of another, especially if they can't steal it because the good that they do come from within... example.. songs and dance only to name these two and a question? after about 25 - 30 years of just those two, what happens as the originaters has moved on??
Coach Prime is a media mastermind. I think he postured like he was gonna come back with a salacious response but came down pretty soft because he already won the media battle. He already got exactly what he wanted and the best case scenario - overwhelming support from the HBCU family and more proof straight from the horses mouth about how they view us.
I enjoy the way that Tolley and Neely report on the current issues, informative, very professional, and the use of the correct grammar with respect. Two black men at the top of their business !
I really enjoyed this conversation. Uncle Neely, you spoke nothing but the plain and simple truth. I think Nick Saban gets his feelings hurt whenever any University snatches the Nations's top football recruit from him. This one really hurt because Travis Hunter chose to attend Jackson State, an HBCU. Education and a degree received from an HBCU carry just as much weight as an education and degree received from any other university in this country.
Really happy to hear Uncle Neely touch on the disparity in programs offered at HBCU’s in comparison to our PWI counter parts. In Mississippi for example, PWI’s are breeding grounds for Educating doctors, lawyers etc. while HBCU’s in MS are not allowed to because of IHL/system rules designed supposedly to limit redundancy. In the end, as it relates to giving back to our institutions, you end up with two classes of Alumni “The haves” and “The have nots” … 🤦🏽♂️I really should be in the room with some of these MS legislators!
@@sspann11 Thanks for responding 🙏 So,Taguloo College is no dobut the only private black HBCU in Mississippi of whic we are proud but even they can’t actually graduate doctors or lawyers. The kids there have to go attend a PWI to get those credentials.
The Atmosphere is Greater than the Bag - in the Long-Run... Being around Your own it's a Beautiful thing, when there's Love & Peace🙏🏾 And it is Evident🤫🤗
I love this discourse! This intelligent talk is how I aspire and execute conversations amongst my peers. We speak with clarity, some moderate amount of knowledge and authority. Not one single thing said here is in error. Way to dispell these wicked stereotypes forced upon black institutions!
Great conversation Brothers we have to support the hbcu and I can't wait for the Jackson State alcorn state football game I'll be there with a hundred of my brothers 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
People want to be your friend…. As long as you aren’t doing better than them. And let’s keep it real Nick Saban isn’t the gold standard of anything related to coaching. He’s had the #1 recruiting class for how long? You have the biggest players, the best skilled players … you SHOULD be one of the greatest coaches in the game.
Great segment! I’m an old ‘white’ man,, but I can tell you that the majority of my favorite players in football, have been black men. I remember back long ago, how many great players came from Grambling. Joe Greene was from North Texas State! How many came from Alcorn A&M, Prairie View, and so many other ‘lesser’ colleges or universities? Now, I wish the young athletes from Florida, would go to these ‘lesser’ schools, not only for athletics, but education (instead of the major colleges and universities in that right wing state). ‘Privilege’, should Never be ‘assumed’. Privilege has to be Earned! I hope Texas A&M beats the sh?y out of Alabama. 😊
Bottom line: NIA is changing the "playing field" altogether. I hope and pray that our kids one day understand the Strategic importance of -- at least -- considering taking their talents to HBCUs. I encourage all to research the ethnic makeup of the top 20 ranked schools.
Alcorn State University BA Grad and JSU MS Grad here! I’m a Brave at heart, but Never been So excited to agree with a Tiger🤣! Such wisdom in these comments.
Thank you, gentlemen, for letting us know what's going on in college football. My hat goes off to Coach Sanders. He has remained a Christian gentleman throughout this whole episode. Keep the great job going, gentlemen. I appreciate you. God bless.
Wonderfully said! I went to an HBCU myself although for not long it is such a beautiful experience. The rich history and the culture of events on a daily basis just warms the heart. Shout out Texas Southern University
Had a conversation with some of my bros just last year, and told them that HBCUs would finally begin to beef up the competition if these top recruits start giving us a chance. I also mentioned that prime would change the game and it’s happening right now. 😁 I’m ready for SU to start getting our top picks.
This is an excellent interview. Jackson State you are on point and you articulated your views very well. I have taken another view of Jackson State University's football program. A proud SU graduate!
I am a sports fan period!!! I am amrican American female track and field team member... I attended Alabama A &M . historically black University...the eperience I like none other...bulldog for life...proud and respectfully appreciated is coach Prime all love ❤
I love hbcu ...you guys are right....I had brothers from shaw university and grambling ....gave so much love ....no matter....last for a life time....so damn true....the love is REAL....the show is 🔥....good talk..
Being loved on and celebrated by your own people. Giving these young black men a safe space. That's exactly what they need someone besides family showing them that they care and not just saying it but actually showing it. ❤️❤️
EXACTLY! Didn't JSU pass on the FCS playoffs because the money from the Celebration Bowl was more than what they could get from going to the playoffs?..But they supposedly have MILLIONS just laying around to give to players?
@@t9190kp Yes and no. JSU did want the money and the attention of the Celebration Bowl. But on the other hand because of the Bayou Classic, the playoffs and SWAC championship scheduling has some conflict. Regaedless of who wins the SWAC, they won't play in the playoffs because of scheduling. That's why FAMU went. They were the #2 team.
I don't know about him being the best dB of all time because Revis might have something to say about that but he was definitely the fastest he just wouldn't tackle outside his league so why not beat the man to the ball its all he needed to do and he did it now didn't he!lol!
I'm sorry I've been very busy lately with family business but Saban comments I heard about but what the hell did Dabo say didn't hear anything about him ?
What's important to say here is that whites, including Saban, have always and still do to this day, feel that we must show loyalty to them before we show loyalty to ourselves. So no it's times for us to show love to ourselves self - FIRST!!
Another thing I found interesting is the the difference between how Coach Prime and Jimbo responded. If he had responded the way Jimbo had I feel like the narrative might be a little different. Stuff like that bothers me
Shout-out to HBCU GameDay, Coach Deion Sanders, Jackson State University, my Norfolk State University Spartans, and the rest of the HBCU Family all across the country. I've been on a couple of other platforms talking about this already, but I think we need to take the time to examine and unpack what Nick Saban did, said, and what it really means and say some the things everyone needs to know that most won't say concerning this situation. We need to make the rest of the country aware that we already know there have been a plethora of back-channel conversations on this subject and that Coach Deion Sanders has probably been called out of his name more times than anyone could possibly ever count because he got the top football recruit in the country and the folks at PWIs are of the opinion that Jackson State University doesn't deserve to have possession of, or access to, that type of talent because it's only supposed to be there for them to exploit and enjoy. And what we need to remind them of every time the subject comes up, is their absolute fear that other top black athletes will follow the example of Travis Hunter and decide on going to HBCUs instead of their schools. Lastly, with all that's been taking place around us in the last few years, we need to put as much time and effort as possible into presenting, guiding, encouraging our black youth interested in higher education to attend an HBCU. And I don't feel any remorse and won't lose any sleep over saying that they ought to think seriously consider HBCUs about getting their education from a place where they're completely wanted and welcomed and have the ability to explore themselves and their lives from a black perspective.
Travis Hunter, thank you young man for choosing JSU. Hopefully the flood gates will open and more 5 star athletes will bring their talents home to HBCU'S.
Who would not want to play for Prime Time Best to every do it. But bottom line is the NIL Deals are legal. Nick just mad now he been paying player. HBCU let’s go
