Using our 1150R to lift a truck and trailer out of the mud at a familiar location. GPS fail......again. www.paypal.me/RotatorRon If you like my videos.....tips appreciated but not required. www.midwesttruck.net/
I would like to ask for prayers and/or well-wishes for our country as we deal with fires in the Northwest, flooding in the South, hurricanes in the Southeast, riots and hatred spreading along with many other things. When we come together, we are strong and so many are searching for the strength to walk through another day. Whether you believe in a God, a Creator or simply in Hope, please join today in sending strength to those in need; we are all in need in some form. God bless and thank you
These videos are all good but I have to say it makes my day to see a young man being respectful and paying attention.Ron you deserve a ton of credit for how you treat your family of employees. That only comes back ten fold.Baffles me my all bosses don't understand this.lol.While handing out credit here's a shout out to your Wife Mom and all.It takes a family to raise good children.God Bless.
good to see your boy taking an interest in the family business and with a teacher like you no doubt one day if he continues he will make one heck of an operator.
I have watched several of your video's and it is very nice to hear you offering compliments and encouragement to your son. If more parents did we would all be better off.
I sure do love seeing a father taking the time to teach his son how things work. Looks like your boy as well has an interest in how things are done as well. I hope to someday be able to shake your hand if I'm ever in your neck of the woods.
Ron, I'm falling in love with your 1150R. I was a recovery specialist in the Army but worked with a medium duty wrecker, mainly recovering cargo trucks and light armored vehicles. On occassion, I used a Heavy Equipment Transporter (tractor-trailer) that had twin 40 ton winches and was powered by a Detroit Diesel 675 V-12 with dual superchargers and turbos 8x8 and 4-wheel steering. I was a stump puller for sure. You are truly the Boss!
It’s awesome that your son has taken an interest in your business and that you take the time to carefully guide him....he’s a lucky young man to have a great dad and a possibly very bright future.
Ethan is eager to learn, I can feel his willingness to wanna learn the steps. Keep your head up Ethan; you'll be in your dad shoes *boots* eventually. Learn what you can and eventually you'll be able to spit out ideas to your dad and his guys for ideas on recoveries.
Hi Ron! Every time that I watch one of your videos it amazes me! You are teaching your son how to be a very courteous, respectful and professional individual! Nothing better that some OJT from your father! I like all of your videos! God bless you, your family and team!
I just pulled the site up on google maps - there's 3 different sets of tyre marks showing in the overhead photo, all looking like they came from tractor-trailers. Maybe it should be called Ron's retirement pot.
I had a student pull into a restaria up in the mid san Joaquin valley Ca. We were pulling double pups. Got stuck in the gummy clay like mud there. I taught him a lesson on getting out. Snow chains work just as well in mud as they do in snow/ice. It is just a dirty/muddy job getting them on. Separating the pups and towing them and the dolly out one at a time and reassembling them in a parking space on the paved end. The maintenance man let us use his hose to spay the mud off the truck and my student who had put on his hazmat rubber suit and rubber boots with long cuffed chemical gloves. (smart move for him). It took a while since I was teaching as we went along. Yep It really was a messy muddy job. But it saved a LARGE tow bill! :)
An experience richer for that driver. Just realize - if you don't make mistakes now and then then you don't do anything of value either. The trick is to get out of the mistakes without getting harmed.
Ron, you need to name that place "Pratt's Point"!...I believe I've seen at least three trucks you've pulled out of that same hole!... and, no telling how many more that you didn't record! Good job as always! Waving from "finally drying out Houston, Texas". Be safe, and, God Bless y'all.
He loves going with me any chance he gets. That may change as he gets a little older, but right now he's excited to work with me. Thanks for watching and God bless.
It's really great to see you working with Ethan at such a young age. He's grown so much in the last 8 years but it starts at a young age and you did it right! Not that you need my approval! But both of you did a great job anyway.
You and Ethan make a good team, dad as a patient experienced teacher and son as a calm willing student who appears to becoming more confident and willing to think ahead. He will eventually be the one in charge on these jobs and you will be the assistant in a very effective team. Your confidence has to be very reassuring to your customers. I can not even begin to guess what a job like that cost the customer but he had no choice. He will need to chalk that bill up as tuition in the OJT Truck Driving School. Stay safe and keep spreading your wonderful outlook on life while knowing who is really in charge during our brief existence. Have you ever thought of becoming a motivational speaker?
I just had a thought. You may have dome this before but maybe not. Give your viewers a tour of the Rotator truck showing all the controls, and the various and many items that you use in a recovery. I think your viewers might get really be interested in that show. I now I would.
In no time Ethan will be running his own wrecks! Has one of the best teachers in the business by his side! Great work Ron keep it up. Stay safe, watch your 6 boss!
Thanks for sharing Ron, Ethan is coming along real good, 8 degree boom sack, chains stored plus 'hands on' the controls. Back to school with a lot to tell. atvb t ..
I wish my father was a great teacher. I love how you teaching your son. My father would have been cussing about 40 times through this. God Bless and stay safe out there.
My dad had a mobile tire service for semi's for almost 25 years until he shut down last year and moved out of state. I remember going out with him many many times and he would put me to work a lot of the time. There were a few times he actually needed help on a job (BIG tires that were difficult for one person) and he got the customer to pay me to go help him. It's a wonder when a father is able to take his kid to work with him like that.
Lovely watching you work. Nice and calm, non condescending to employee or customer. Nice to view but also bitter sweet as I use to do motorsport rescue and recovery then commercial medium heavy recovery. Had to give up due to health 3 years ago. Now almost house bound with no prospect of change for the next 20-30 years. Use to love the feeling of a good job done with most people being happy you have arrived and grateful for the service.
over here in the uk the road construction company's are supposed to inform our ordnance survey maps that there has been a road change but like anywhere some company's forget so chaos is caused with sat nav // great vidio again
Yay!! Another episode of A Day in the Life of Ron Pratt, Tow Truck Driver!!! :) I hope GPS and Google get their act together and fix this problem. Unfortunately it caused another driver to park horribly in a terrible place. Another job well done!! God bless and may you always be between the lines (unless you need to be on one side to recover another horrible parking decision). :)
Sorry I did not get my comment on here quick enough for your previous video so i would like to add it first on this one, Ron you & your team did a difficult job recovering that unit & trailer that had rolled over at the side of the road in terrible wet stormy conditions at night. well done & congrats to all of you. Now i will watch this video with great interest as i am a fellow heavy recovery man in the UK.
Thank you so much. I am back-logged with comments (not complaining at all), and I know how time can get away with you. Stay safe my brother and may God watch over and protect you.
Thanks for sharing Ron, I'm learning a lot just watching you move these big rigs that are in some bad situations. Teaching Ethan, how to hook up cables & chains the proper way is a good thing because in just a few years he will be running the show and telling you to sit back in your rocking chair and watch me l o l
First I've seen a rotating boom move back. Real cool, I remember when I was young my grandfather use to drive a large tow truck with just a fix boom pulling semi's
One good thing about towing on Old Nash Road is traffic is not a big problem." Slow down" and Move over" do not apply. Thanks for posting the video - I always enjoy them.
I am with you on the prayers, Ron. We are experiencing a lot of different things in our country and we all need to stand together and pray. You and all of the other folks that are working on the roads need prayers as well. I appreciate you putting the videos up. And I think it's neat that you take your son with you and teach him. I think that is what God intended for us dads to do.
Ethan, take your time to learn, listen to your pappa cos he the man dude, you will be in his position in the future teaching your own boys all the tricks of the trade, may God go with you and your family.
Love all the videos Ron, you always get the job done in the smartest most well thought out manner and always with respect and great manners to all involved. I would really appreciate if in the videos you mentioned how much you charge for the recovery/tow. Thanks
hi Ron if I may make a small suggestion. in approach to an intersection, I have noticed that the siren mixed with the use of your trucks air horn grabs more attention by motorists. I work for emergency services, and we while still slow and or stop depending of course, but the horn on the siren system is just just not laud enough to grab any attention. your air horns though will.
Ron you weren't kidding about this being a deja vu kind of situation. Soon as I saw where you was at or should I say where you were headed I recognized it even though the video of the truck from the day before was done a while back as I recall
Man you wasn't kidding when you said deja vu. Almost as soon as you started I thought 💭 this looks familiar. Young Ethan is becoming a first rate recovery agent. It's good to see young people getting interested and willing to work/help. That is becoming harder to find in the younger generation. My hats 🎩 off to you Mr. Ethan. Thanks for sharing and God bless
As ever !!! Good video !! Ethan is learning alot for his future !!! Good to know he his willing to do whatever the job requires !!!! God Bless and stay safe !!!!
Stuff like this is one of the reasons I prefer doing drive away. Bad directions, miss a turn, ... I've driven as much as 50 miles before finding a suitable spot for turning around. One load, the person that gave me directions didn't realize that a semi needed to come in from another direction because it went through narrow residential and had a low bridge. The local told me that was the 3rd time it had happened in two weeks. He helped me back out of it, led me in the correct way, and when I got docked and went in with the papers, that officer was still giving that Secretary a dressing down that would cause a Marine to blush. Yeah, I could make better money draggin a wagon, but I'm a whole lot easier to be around after a turn out.
Just wondering how many people are amazed at the way you turn and lift things. You do an amazing job. I find myself thinking "How is he going to get that vehicle?".
Ron you have patience of a saint! Cause I would have told this know , since he knows it all to figure his way out then, thanks for sharing and God bless and be safe
Ron I really appreciate what you do out there for others, it takes a lot of patience and perseverance to do your job. I was thinking something that might help you out, Look into a Meeting App you can brand it for your company, have your dispatch get the names of the on scene folks and then everyone is on their cell phones in the meeting so if you have to update police or fire you can or tell the driver what to do. when your done end the meeting.
Thank you for the way you say please pray for the people that all important to the accident site . I Kenny start praying when you ask for prayers God bless you so very much my friend
i'm just glad i never had wrecker service in Pa. when missing my exit on the back roads and trying to find a place to turn around. only 2 places i had wrecker service, 1 was in a cul-de-sac, after a 3 day rain, in Kentucky.my trailer tires sunk into the center landscape all the way to the bottom of the trailer box. i got stuck and couldn't figure my way out. the other was in Western Minn. when i hit black ice and slide off the embankment, on the right hand side. they used a regular wrecker, since i was empty.
Great recovery Ron. You did end up using the rotator which I believe it means a lot more on the recovery bill than just a winch out. Sometimes like this, you do not really have a choice. I believe this company where these guys are trying to get into need to update directions into the plant for the drivers. They change geography when they do road work & change landscape & I'm willing to bet you can see the building these guys are trying to get to from that road. Ethan is moving right along, he's learning from 1 of the best in the business. God Bless & have a great day.
Great work, video, and skill handing down/training as always!. I really can't help but wonder where the exercise of judgement has gone with some people in some scenarios... No bloody way I'd of ever attempted a turn around there. Then you have the timbers... can only just shake my head when I saw that.
I think no matter what country you live in when you're witnessing natural disasters happening your heart and best wishes go out to those affected. As always stay safe and god bless
I would like to say thanks for your videos I enjoy watching them. But really impressed with your attitude and professionalism while on the job doing what you do. God has been good to you. Maybe one day I could meet you here if not I promise I’ll meet you in heaven. As always praying for you as well as the needs of the world. God bless
That truck is a beast. I know those Class 8 Wreckers are expensive to begin with but I imagine that truck had to be at least a half a million if it was a dollar. Pretty cool to see it in action.
