Dekay's Brown Snakes Update!

Ed watering the lizards like "Ah yes, the false chameleons are growing in nicely this season", I love it

This whole video is just too cute. Watering the false chameleons, the lesbian parrot, the bloopers, Timmy the isopod. Love it. For the record, I think it would be really cool to hear more about the snails. I like snails...

The Dekay's brown snakes are always so cute! And I would totally watch a snail care guide even though I have zero intention to own snails. I just like knowing things. I love how much joy and care you have for _all_ of the animals you have in your care. Including Timmy the Isopod!

today my daughter and i rescued a smooth earth snake from the pool drain! it was really little (like the dekay's!) and had slightly iridescent brownish-gray scales + a white belly. It was very friendly--it let both of us hold it without trying to get away. it didn't seem hurt, but it was trying to shed, so we put it by some small rocks and it immediately started to rub against everything to get the shed off. then it slithered away. :) this is the first time we have found a snake since watching your videos and it was my first time feeling confident handling a snake found in the wild. it was such a cool moment to experience with my daughter and I thank you for giving me the knowledge to handle the situation!

I am, oddly enough, finding that I am very invested in Timmy's adventures...

I have a DeKay’s Brown Snake named Shawna, and she is the SWEETEST! They make amazing pet snakes. She is my first reptile I have ever owned and I’m a kid.

I love how Ed talks about watering the lizards oh so casually like the it's a totally normal thing that everybody does. Just common household chore you know watering the lizards.

Finally another video on the Dekay's! I have a passion for all small critters and making tiny enclosures. This has been probably my favorite video I've seen of yours for a while. Love these little guys! Would also love to hear about your snail enclosure- I kept amber snails in high school and they were quite funny.

I do love this video! Cannot count how many times I watched this anymore! Before Emily feed them, the first one was telling to the other 2 buddies that she’s there, it looks really telling them like “🗣hey, hey, wake up! Here she is!” That’s so adorable and interesting, his head was moving like a human to tell about the happy news. Trying to take the food from other one, or open the cute mouth to eat like a child etc., every behaviors are so adorable😍💕

I like to imagine that when ed or Emily walk into the room. The reptile or snake in general looks at them and goes “The food bringer has appeared-“

Instantly adorable! Man, I'm so lucky I got to see a Dekay's in the wild before you got them, they just blend in so well! Redbellies are more common and easier to spot with their little brown backs, and are probably the second-smallest in the Central Northeast (either them or the little green snakes). It was a real treat to see something besides garters and redbellies just that one time! It was cute how he thought he was blending in with the mulch path!

It's really interesting seeing captive brownsnakes! I've heard wild-caught ones do awful in captivity, but people catch them anyways. Good on you guys for raising captive-bred ones :>

I was walking home today and found one of these guys sunning himself in the road! Only about five inches long... I admired him for a few minutes and gently coaxed him back into the grass so he wouldn't get squished. I've only seen them once before!
