Agree completely. Steve Liebmann had no idea that he was chatting with the Scottish Don Walker. This is the greatest song ever written. Debra Mary Kiehne... you will always be my downfall. RIP precious angel.
one of the most underrated bands in the entire history of music. Great writing, singing, n playing. Shit they're from Scotland also so what's not to like. All bs aside these guys are great n I just wish they'd have had far greater success n the true test is always do the songs still blow u away? These songs still do to this very day!!!!!!!!!!!
Quality - ineed, genius - art like this WILL be recognized appropriately at some point, some day. I certainly wish it would be while these guys are still alive and able to appreciate it and reap some rewards. But that's by no means a certainty. When I look at the immeasurably inferior talent that makes millions of dollars I can't help but feel anger and resentment. I've searched the world for music, and I've never heard better total musical artistry as good as what these guys have put out during their careers. If there were any justice in the world at all they would be at the absolute top....with only distant seconds, thirds, and so on. Justin Currie is an immense talent - as all Del Amitri fans know - but many non-musician Del fans may not appreciate that Iain Harvie is every bit as talented in his own way. His guitar parts are absolutely mind-boggling in their originality and contribution to the song. Unlike so many wannabes and posers, Iain's playing doesn't scream "Look at me!!!!!" Rather, it states eloquently, "Look at this amazing song."
+jakesnake66 -- I think you exaggerate big time. There are other great musicians out there, some of them for sure with even more musical artistry than these guys here. Though I have to admit this is my favorite band. The instruments in the songs are well chosen, bring such a warmth into the songs and match the lyrics, which are mostly great.
I LOVE THIS SONG!!! am going to see them in Sept this year and cannot wait, last time i saw them was when they were first in the charts with Kiss This Thing Goodbye, such good memories of that night as got to have a drink with them back stage after the gig! Both my sister and i ended up with boyfreinds who looked like him funnily enough!
Brilliant. Check out other 2 songs: "I'm an Unbeliever" a b-side from their last album and "Isolation" a John Lennon cover performed by Justin in a small pub years back pretty sure they're both on youtube. Terrible interviewer, whose depressing comments were well deflected by the band. And a beautiful live rendition of one of my favorite songs. I did get to see them do it live half a world away (in the US). So poetic and melodic.
