Del Shannon (born Charles Weedon Westover; December 30, 1934 - February 8, 1990) was an American rock and roll and country musician, and singer-songwriter who is best known for his 1961 No. 1 billboard hit "Runaway".
I heard the pain in Dels voice in the 60s with the ending to Searchin.....sadly he backed it up 30 yrs later blowing himself away.Why?Hopefully God will forgive him for that and give him life again as the wonderful singer/songwriter/musician he was!

+Music Selection..It's strange that this song is largely overlooked now,when it was a number 3 hit here at the time and was played a lot in the discos of the time...
I remember "Runaway" being played over and over again at an all night party i went to at a secluded farmhouse that summer(1961) and me drunkenly riding my motorbike up and down a farm track,giving different girls a ride on the back,oh happy days.lol !!!!
Another nice video, Mick. I don't think this is the first time Mr. Chaplin had appeared in your videos. This tune is unbelievably catchy and well-crafted, I love it a lot. But once again, it doesn't get played here in Japan as much as that monster of a song, the #1 hit Runaway. How is the weather in your town lately? It became much cooler here like I can't believe, at least in the eastern area of the country. But it's hard to forget how it was incredibly hot this past summer. I think a lot of people will go out and buy air conditioners next year, once it gets just a little bit warmer. Thanks!!
+ksm198002 Yes,I'm guilty of using Mr. Chaplin quite often,I love all his old silent movies and they often work quite well with songs I post....This song by Del was a number 3 hit here in the UK in 1964 and it made number 9 in the USA too,but since then it seems to have been overlooked,shame !....We haven't had much of a Summer here in the UK this year,not very warm at all,mind you,it's been sunny here for the last few days and quite warm for the time of year,better late than never !
