In this VladTV exclusive, Del The Funky Homosapien sat down with Vlad to discuss his beginnings, being Ice Cube’s cousin, and starting music.
Del said he started out as a DJ and B-Boy, but making music and rapping came last for him. When he did begin, he started out as a poet, and was inspired by the works of Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel. From there, Del explained how Cube was a driving force for him to get into the music game, noting that he would follow behind the rapper as much as he could.

Del was one of the first backpack nerd rappers ever out and one of the most slept on lyricists of all time. If he was a New York cat he'd be praised like a God MC but because he was from Cali he never got the recognition he deserves. Way ahead of his time.

Nah I think because Hiero were out in Oakland doing their own thing they were able to resist trends that swept the big scenes. Remember more hardcore gangsta stuff hit big in NY too. Nas, Biggie, Wu, Mobb Deep. Even Q-Tip starts Beats, Rhymes, and Life in '96 talking about busting some guy's head open over creepy beats.

aha, Del was influenced by Ultramagnetic MC's.....yes people, why? Cause Kool Keith was THE most advanced MC from the 80s....distinctive sounds and big words, Ultramagnetic is truly the most underrated group in hiphop times, Critical Beatdown was a masterpiece, but hardly mentioned.

Long before Pac's nose ring there was Del long long long long before all these other lil dudes. Ice Cube was ashamed of him because he was unique & Cube was trying to create a image & Del was beyond Cubes image. I'm glad he dissed Cube back in the day because Cube fooled us all & Del still was thorough but never was a get with. Causal & the rest of them dudes was hard.
