Facts.. cool dude too. I remember he came to new Orleans with cube.. and while cube had fans waiting del kept everyone distracted until cube got there. He was vibing with everyone.. I bought his album just bcuz he was so cool.. then becoming a fan of him brought me to hieroglyphics. And I've been hooked ever since.
He is so right. I can remember how much I liked his first album, but then I could tell he overcompensated for something on his second album. I love how accountable he acted for his role in his Elektra deal. He sounds like a grown man. I love it.
Man have I been waiting for this del is my fave fave fave rapper unique access does it again much love for this no doubt my fave interview you guys are so awsome
Del is like my 2nd favorite rapper...even tho' I never really followed his music after "Eye Examination"...he was dope enough for me back to say that now...he was over-the-heads of people...makes him like a "prophet of nowadays as GM Melle Mel was with his early raps that we see actually goin' on today...even though it was kinda far-fetched for the majority back in '79 or '82! King T is my favorite tho'...I am from North Central Jersey...Ice T (Summit and then Newark), Redman, Naughty By Nature (is East Orange which right next to Brick City/Newark), DJ Cheese (1st DMC DJ Champion when scratchin' and cuttin' was introduced), Parliament/Funkadelic started in Plainfield, NJ - that is WHY it is called "P-Funk"! I think Clinton had the hair shop on Newark (my mother went there a few times to get DOO'd UP...but, they lived in Potter's Crossing/Edison right next to Plainfield! That is where "P-Funk" OFFICIALLY started with "(I Wanna) Testify", and then they travelling back 'n forth to Detroit to write for Motown back then!!!
@@UniqueAccessEnt I had a friend back in the day who kept saying her friend going to make a record...That record turned out to be "Boyz In the Hood" Eazy E
"I wish my brother George was here" is one of the most underrated gems in Hip Hop. The records producer, Ice Cube (Del's cousin) had an artistic direction that Del didn't really care for. Essentially, Cube said that Del was going to be funkmaster George Clinton's illegitimate son that grew up tp rap over Parliment/Funkadellic beats. Del is pure Hip Hop and despite not being a fan of the direction of the project, he made his orthodox, underground Hip Hop merge with the funk sound that was both satisfying and unique.
Dr. Bombay was one of my faves as a kid. Then in high school he comes out w both sides of the brain at a time when underground hiphop was wasn’t even a genre yet. I love all dels work. Deltron 3030, gorillaz, still hiero making music too. One of dels songs I always play is corner story off the future development album.
Siiiiiick interview! Been a Heiro fan for yonks n yonks! Soren, you really know how to bring out artist's true personality and enthusiasm. In other interviews w Del I seen, he comes across as a difficult shell to crack, but you nail it.
Anyone who does not like, or understand concrete trampolean should not be on earth (I am exaggerating, but that's how I feel sometimes). It's that type of limited mind state that ruined hip hop. Fuck what they like, do what you like.
Wow one of west coasts greatest sons.Ive been a early fan of DEL and support since the beginning and still is Him being that real hip hop alternative but hood MC back in the early 90s made him rare and unique. But DEL is often overlooked and not much givin his just do in the game.as far as the Bay area and Oakland.Hes the Originator of the Hieroglyphics crew and Souls of Mischief were pretty much DELs proteges back then. Nore needs to get this man on drink Champs and given his flowers and jus do as well. And the fact that DEL is actually ice cubes cousin should step up more and do music with the legendary DEL They havnt worked together since DELs first album back in 1990. Anyhow the legend of Del tha Funky Homosapien. Pay Homage.-Thanks...
“So what did they shape?” “They had to take some of the illness out of it, you know what mean” .... “So give me an example” “I had a song called Concrete Trampoline” LOL. I love this stuff. Keep Up The Good Work SB.
Jus getting 2 this ..great interview even Greater Artist .... Future Development is freaKin KLASSICK 👋🏾👍🏽 wish Del & Casual did an album coz everytime they get 2gether IT'S A BATTLE!! (wit No winner)
Del tha Funke Homosapian is a great Artist. One of the truest MCs of my Era. Good to see him & to hear many of his accomplishments & accolades he’s done. Great Job getting him on there to talk & allow him to be himself.
This interviewer just laughs and has these subtle little smirks anytime Del talks about some serious shit , Like come on bro , who the fuck you laughing at ????
Soren is well known and well respected by these artists. You'd rather have a Vlad type interview where he is constantly talking over the artists or talking about everything else but the music?
