Not really. Fresh spices/ herbs are better than powder versions. Technically all you really do need is salt and pepper.

It is largely true in that its better to have salt pepper and a herb garden (if you can't cook nice food with just salt and pepper, you can't cook). But there are loads of things that, if you can cook, it's good to have to hand, dried, that you won't use often enough to keep fresh - star anise, coriander seeds, cardamom, sumac, saffron, nutmeg, mace, turmeric, paprika. cumin, cloves etc. Also if I can spend 3 seconds reaching in a cupboard to sprinkle some garlic and onion powder on something when I've had a long day and don't want to have to prep, cook or wash much - even if the food is worse, I'm happier.

Am i dumb or is the volume different on each side??? Because to me the right side sounds way more silent compared to the right and it drives me mad!
