This brought back lots of memories for me. I grew up in Delaware County & Philadelphia, including living 15 years in Darby, and spending time in Yeadon, Folsom, Morton, etc. I used to take the Sharon Hill trolley to my junior high school, and spent countless times at the Darby loop.
Mr. Spedden you've done it again. Wow! These are amazing before and after shots and I kept going back and forth to see if any of the original building were still intact. I think maybe a few but the over all views have changed very much. Your perception and interest in your material is truly marvelous. Thank you for your intense research.
Had no idea all these trolley lines traversed Delco...fond memories in the 60's of riding in the trolley car driver's seat (rear) from Media to 69th st or pulling the wooden seat out of its pocket that enabled you to sit in front of the rear door. Probably can't do either of these things now! Great video's Craig.
I’ve had many people say the same thing. They had no idea that a trolley line ran right down the street in front of their house. Thanks for your comment.
Very interesting. I've lived in Delco (specifically Broomall) for most of my life, and it's also where my mother grew up. I also recall my mother telling me that my grandmother would often take a trolley from West Chester Pike into Philadelphia.
My mom & dad met on red arrow & my uncle worked for them 1920s-60s; my aunt was the personal secretary to Merritt Taylor and he gave me the last operator’s license.
