Grew up in Maryland right near the DE border and spent a ton of time in Delaware. The Jungle Jim's and Candy Kitchen rounds cracked me up cause I've been there! The town is pronounced like Ruh - Hoe - Bith. Can't wait til the Maryland video!
I used to live in Delaware, family has been there since at least 1888, it’s super nostalgic seeing all these places around rehoboth (pronounced Re-ho-beth) that I grew up going to, one of the only videos of yours that I can know exactly where it is the second it pops up lol
Also if you’re planning to visit, Rehoboth is great, it just gets pretty crowded in the prime summer season, plenty to do, see, and eat, if you’re a history nerd don’t forget to check out Fort Miles and the submarine watch towers
I was a student at the university of Delaware and recognized library/wyoming instantly, i parked my car on wyoming road my freshman year. Also I’m from baltimore so I pronounce newark like you did but some people from there pronounce it new-erk
Two really awesome speed runs! Some unfortunate luck on the final round but very impressive games! Delaware is one of just a few states I’ve never been to, but despite living on the opposite side of the country, right before covid hit, I had this really weird random fascination and desire to move to a beach town and somehow Rehoboth Beach was where I wanted to move to (not really sure why!) I work in the hotel industry and had some phone interviews with hotels out there but never got an offer and then covid hit and I gave up on wanting to move, at least to Delaware. That’s my only real Delaware related story. It’s not a great story, but it is a story.
Been to Delaware a few times for travel baseball tournaments my brother used to play in (most of my travelling is related to that lol). Despite being called Sports at the Beach, the complex is in Georgetown, so I never actually got to Rehobeth. I’ll be sure to fix that if I ever get to Delaware again.
Delaware native here: you got the Newark pronunciation right. New-Ark. Rehoboth you got wrong. It is pronounced Re-Ho-Beth. Also, side note. The DelDOT facility you came across was not the Headquarters. The Headquarters is in Dover.
Some other fun Delaware town pronunciations include Little Creek as Little Crick, Houston as House-ton, Millsboro and Dagsboro as Millsburra and Dagsburra, Seaford and Milford as Seaferrd and Milferrd, Lewes as Lewis, Harrington as Hurrintin (try to make that one syllable), Hockessin as Ho-Kess-in, Leipsic as Lip-sick, and Smyrna as Smerr-na. There is a little debate around Townsend. New folk Town-send and older residents say Towns-end. Both are generally accepted.
I've driven through Delaware, and the only place I've visited in the state is the high point, Ebright Azimuth. Truly an amazing place. Make sure to bring ice axe, crampons, and an oxygen tank.
Driven through Delaware many times en route to Philly or NYC from DC area. Went to Newark, Del, once to do a costume fitting with a designer and once to go to Rehoboth Beach.
Back when I lived in the Washington suburbs, I would drive up to northern Delaware to visit my aunt and cousin every Thanksgiving and Christmas, so the name Christiana was familiar to me.
I've traveled through Delaware many times... so I have basically just seen Del 1 and US 13. Have also gone to Lewes for the ferry once. I don't really think I have missed much.
I live in texas and have never left the state by myself. hope to see a lot of the country as i get older, your highest points video would be a very cool place to start!
Californian native, was disappointed that I wasn't familiar with any places that showed up when you did your california 25k, but I actually recognized the bethany location in this one! My great aunt has a vacation home in bethany
local here (been living here for 18 years)! never say "ne-werk" and always "new-ark" when referring to Newark, DE. "ne-werk" is how we say the city in NJ 😉 great content! also rehoboth is pronounced "re-hoe-both" 😃
