The fact that these dialogues had to be cut, yet they would make any other movie a 10/10, says all you need to know. Any scene with bricktop is brilliant.
@Paulonbass OnBass Do you think that the 9 minutes that was cut would have ruined the ebb and flow of this movie? I seriously don’t think it would. These scenes all seem relevant and do not-in my opinion-seem as if it would have taken anything away from the final cut. I get that the final cut still gives us the overall context and encompasses all the characters. I don’t believe these 9 min takes away from the story or the content of the characters, to me, it just adds a little more flavor to the colorful characters. Just my opinion. I also think this is one of Brad Pitts greatest performances that’s overlooked by mainstream movie enthusiasts. It’s strange to me, that, with all these great actors and great story, that this movie is considered by the mainstream as a “cult classic.” I know hindsight is 2020. In your opinion do you think these scenes would have stalled or disrupted the pace and theme of the movie?
Definitely sucks, but he still would've got paid. I agree it ain't the same as getting worldwide exposure and getting paid. Believe it or not, there's actors who were slated to play a role that got passed over completely/replaced, but still got paid as if they were in the film. Case in point: Marlon Wayans in the Batman movies. He was supposed to play Robin, but Chris O'Donnell wound up doing it. Hollywood is crazy, but that's why it also pays to have a great lawyer to put stuff like that in your contract.
Whilst Bricktop is genuinely scary in the directors cut, the scene between him and Tony indicate he's maybe not as high up the food chain as most would believe. There's also a scene in the directors cut where he's subservient to a couple of high rolling blokes who put a bet on but clearly lost. Definitely more of a feared local organiser and fixer than a genuine big fish. I'd say Cousin Avi is the bigger boss in this movie. He's the only character who actually talks down to Bricktop.
"There's also a scene in the directors cut where he's subservient to a couple of high rolling blokes who put a bet on but clearly lost." I can't find any director's cut, but the normal version that I have has that scene: "I'll make it up to you, I promise. Stand on me."
@@redlightmax Yeah that scene is in the normal release. He's really apologetic to those two, then immediately after a little fish makes another comment and Bricktop is raging.. "You stop me again whilst I'm walking and I'll cut your fucking jacobs off"
Such a shame they didn't leave this version of Franky's death. Benicio was gorgeous in this role and the character deserved more. For me it's the only issue with this movie.
No it was better without that scene. It didn’t carry the narrative any further or flesh out the characters meaningfully. I like benicio’s character having more mystery, and the movie drawing you into it with his character early on was supposed to engage the audience with the negative space better. Works well if it leaves you wondering what happened to him and needing more, but ultimately putting the pieces together through context.
@@kerrybrennan7099 If you carefully watch the movie, you'll see, that there is a narrative error about the opening of the case when the Boris-episode happens. But Snatch is such a good spoof, that it does not matter very much anyway! Btw. they should publish a directors-cut a.s.a.p. ...
Frankly four-fingers still gets shot by Boris later. Even with this scene, Tyrone doesn't shoot him, they just tie him up again with the tea cosy. Remember when Boris shows up, Vinny holds up the stone saying "we want half of this," so they already had the case open.
Snatch should've dbeen a series of movies, with a backstory and several sequels. Snatch is my favorite Guy Ritchie movie, and I'm still waiting for the sequel to "Rock and Rolla" .
@@1blastman that is a very interesting idea but they didn't think like that up until recently. It would have to have been filmed at the same time as or immediately following the movie but in a different reality a 2000 Snatch companion 5 part cable show would be awesome Every character is amazing. The black pawn shop owners r the weakest link but even they r very good. Especially their Yardie wannabe gangster blonde friend and fat Tyrone But Borris, Bricktop, Bullettooth Tony, Avi, Turkish and Mickey with the pikeys. Each could have a 90 minute backstory. Easily
@@thegadflygang5381 Ritchie even mentions it in this fascinating interview. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S4NMIeDvlv4.html I'm amazed at how much youtube material there is on just this movie. It's taken on a cult life of its own. And I'm still waiting for the sequel for "Rock and Roller" another great Ritchie movie.
Plays a 'fringe' perfectly. You can sense from both clips he loves the excitement of being surrounded by dangerous people. However you can also see that he's out of his depth really and gets used more than anything.
@@kimberlyharshfield8629 oh and the opiates. How do you like them, Ms. Dunbar? Still putting yourself to sleep around midnight then? You do realize that is the entirety of the problem in the intelligence community, yes? And that the opiates are what negatively affect our national security? And that they are the reason that I caught nearly every high-ranking intelligence operative that I caught. You know who I have caught. Because I told you.
I actually did use the "I can be a bigger bully" quote once, I went to a shop and these 3 kids were pushing around a smaller kid, the older kids were about 14 I would have been mid 20s at the time and I walked over and put myself between them and told them to leave him alone, the ringleader gave some smart comment so I said something like come on then tough guy, do something to me.... you won't, because you're a bully, well I can be a bigger bully so I suggest you go that way and he goes that way. They all walked off tails tucked.
I thought the Mullet scene with Errol and John should have been left in. Makes you realise how he makes a living, by selling his information to the highest bidder.
@@doublestrokeroll Definitely... I watched the Extended version of Lord of the Rings. Let's just say that I knew why the directors cut it to the cinema version after that. 😁 Not that it makes the films bad per se. It's just that those secenes definitely take a bit of pace and atmosphere out of them.
@@lrts1lrts181 I disagree. The whole scene is stupid and a total waste of time. None of what they say or do adds anything to the story. It's just a scene for the sake of having a scene. It is exactly why they cut it out. But whatever. If you like it that's fine. Different strokes for different folks. It is subjective. There is no right or wrong answer.
Great movie! Brad Pitt was hilarious and proved his acting chops in this film. I don't know anyone else who could have pulled off his hilarious phony accent!
super ineteresting to see these shots pre edit. Getting to see what its like from just straight up recordings. Really shows how much the music choices and editing adds to it, yet still shows how the camera placements work well
In the original release these scenes were in, at least when I saw it at the theater in an extended release. Got the DVD and saw the deleted scenes and I recognized them. In the theater, me and my friends laughed our asses off hearing Errol and Tony!
@1:25 Four-fingers getting his gun absolutely should have remained in the final cut. It was a great follow up to the botched robbery-making it twice in one night that they were disarmed-and it was a perfect start to the tea cozy gag and how the gun didn't work. They also gave away that it was masterminded by the Russians-the reason why Boris shot and killed him! How did that get cut?
Frankie gets shot by Boris because they say his name when he's in the front part of the shop. They don't need to have this scene mention the Russians because if boris arrives and they don't use his name, he doesn't shoot frankie because he believe Frankie doesn't know whos responsible. The reveal here is a little redundant, and him falling off the chair is just pure plot momentum and not very believable tbh.
It's sad Brad never got the Oscar(yet) because he definitely deserved it for Snatch, yet he was still the pretty boy and not taken seriously even into the early 2000's after classics like Troy, Seven and Snatch. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves but for most of his fans, WDGAF...as in We Dont Give A F but it would cement his place in history and Brad deserves it.
As good as it is to see how certain characters connected that never actually did in the movie .... none of these scenes deserved to make the cut unfortunately.
The guy behind the bar in the first scene is called John Hathaway from rochester,Kent. An absolute legend in Medway and a man I’ve had the privilege of being in his company many a time, shared some excellent pub sessions and stories with him. R.I.P big John.👍
My 10+ years of learning English as a second language are going right in the circular file when I hear this, even the subtitles do not help. :-) Anyway, my all time favourite movie.
All decent scenes but you can see most would not add anything more to the movie and just make it too long for the average noob., but for diehards, it's a joy to see more of this great flick!
Tony and Bricktop were polar opposites in the expressions of power and violence. Tony was direct; personal. Bricktop was calculating and bided his time.
To everyone saying the Tony, Avi, Brick Top scene would have ruined the main plot line, is correct. However the interactions with Tony and Brick, and Tony and Errol (along with Avi’s line about fingers and noses) were too good to discard. How this could’ve been done, was delete the sub scenes with Sol and Vinny, then delete everything in the office between Avi and Brick top after Tony leaves. It makes the meeting entirely ambiguous and left to the imagination of the viewer, all while Tony just big balls Errol on his own turf. They threw out too much gold by turning out the entire scene..
Snatch was great but I am still waiting for the second RocknRolla film. Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was great. Snatch maybe even better and then RocknRolla perhaps the best of all. Robbing the Russian's payoff money the second time had me howling the whole time.
What an amazing movie! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦! English movies in Canada are greatly appreciated. Over the last 10 years Bollywood has taken over though.
I was always under the impression that Vinnie wasn't a very good actor and he only came across well in these movies because Ritchie knew how to get a good performance out of him. But seeing these additional Bullet Tooth Tony scenes, without any editing or music... I think Vinnie's doing all fucking right. The whole part with Bricktop and his henchman was excellent. Fuckin' Vinny standing there glaring at a guy, staring each other down, and the guy not realising that Vinny has his cock out pissing in the guy's pocket. Hilarious.
I'm still not certain thats not some colloquial term like "taking the piss" because aside from that one scene Tony come across as a no bs class act. Literally pissing in Errols pocket seems more crude than Tony's other scenes. I do not think the scene fits him or Bricktop and neither did they.
@@chrissawyer4060 Never have I heard anyone say " he's pissed in my pocket" to mean taking the piss. I'm a Londoner of the same age as the people in the film ( then and now!) He pissed in his pocket! If you watch he sakes it off when he's finished!
@@chrissawyer4060 Tony has a prior relation with Errol and he likes to humiliate him. What better way to do it without using violence (which would disturb the negotiations going behind the window) than to piss on him while Errol can do nothing about it?
Hellboy with Ron Perlman, Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. and Snatch with all that perfect casting, I'd watch another installment of any of these anytime. But I think Snatch stands out, dialogue, casting, shot selection, it's perfect. Guy Ritchie knows where his strengths are and he makes the most of them.
I had no idea that Brick top, Avi and Tony had a scene together. It makes sense why Brick top replied to the robbers about the stone and accepted their bargaining.
lock stock had an amazing deleted scene that explains the entire relationship between Tom (protagonist that loses the card game that sets everything in motion) and his dad in 1 minute and they cut it from the film
I can see how all this got cut. It looks like the film makers dumped in a whole bunch of additional interactions which proved unnecessary for telling the final story. Most of the stuff in the pub could be inferred from other scenes without being spelt out. e.g. Brick Top figuring out who blagged the bookies from the CCTV.
