@markdaykin. Indian police are too corrupt. Don't make a generalization by watching one video. There are good and bad cops everywhere in this world. While majority may be more good in few countries. India is too big, you haven't met any Indian police to make a comment like that. Indian police are known for high handedness and power abuse, when they deal with illiterate and poor citizens.

You don't need to pay them, they were goons and taking you to the places which are banned and under strict security, they might land you in trouble, you shouldn't just randomly talk to everyone Chris, many foreigners are kidnapped sometimes, go to safe places, don't go to any isolated places or anywhere where you don't see any family crowd, it might be dangerous
@@yoBoi.007survive doesn't mean u break the law n order, it was a security breach. Just to make big bucks they took the boat across yamuna bridge which is never allowed except for police patrol. It was a huge security breach and had these guys not been American they would have taken them under custody for questioning.
You guys were lucky. Photographing bridges is not generally allowed for security reasons. The police needed to know who you were and what you were doing. Your activity was very unusual. Once they realized you were just clueless tourists they let you go.

Those ghats near Yamuna have suspicious activities going on , looting thieves, drugs etc going on. Police is there for security. They are not a very public place. Thieves roam around opendly. Please don't go there......

bro please avoid these people they basically scam in the name of boating, as Yamuna has basically a sewer instead of river (due to the pollution) and it's not safe for boating purposes. I remember that in my college, 2 students from kerela whom were new in Delhi were boating in yamuna, thinking it as a river 🤣

The boat ride shdnt have been more than 100-200 rupees. But one thing I realized everytime I visit poorer countries is that its ok to give service providers a little extra. 10 $ wont change my life, but it will feed his family for a week.
Bro being an Indian I will be happy to pay 1000 rupees for over half an hour boat ride like this and sometimes foreigners ask for prices which are uncomfortable for us to even ask for. India is less expensive compared to US but it's not like everything is completely free man

Police was should be rather helpful and friendly to foreigners as they represent our nation..they were kinda mocking Chris and Max..ordinary people are much more friendly and caring 👍

Actually as you can see there was a railway bridge that's why security was so tight, these could be Railway Police guards, they usually patrol railway lines and areas near them.

Those weren't kids Chris, Those were illegal immigrants and peddlers that's why Police didn't let you pay them. Also you can basically smuggle drugs, arms, bombs or whatever by avoiding road hence avoiding police checking and can plant /drop it anywhere in the course of the river hence it's obviously a security hazard and you can't just go around boating in Delhi (cause Police here doesn't usually patrol waters hence they can't ensure checking and safety) Also they didn't trouble you cause you were innocent and our guest ; but wherever you go you must follow some rules and laws (you may not know this time, but take care onwards)
You can video tape the police in India and that is the right of the people. If a cop coarse you to stop recording then you can take steps against them. They usually make you stop recording so that you cannot record their crimes and violations just like in America.

You know what happened? The police perceived the situation as "the boat men breached the security protocol on your assurance/saying." The boatman is young nd he probably thought by having you guys on board will not create any issues since ur're foreigners. They knew very well what they were doing when they cross the rope near that bridge since they are locals.
