The Driver seat instruction was really good. It is in how you set your trailer before you start the backing. I run a Route for a local Bakery to Retailers also. I run 4 days Tues.-Fri. Most days I have 15-17 stops. Your 20 minute turn time is on par with my work. I also Merch. There is a Relationship built with the receivers and store staff. I did like the driver perspective and narrative. Good of Pepsi as a Company to allow us to see the day in the life.
Currently a warehouse rat for PepsiCo north been doing it for a while now I love it here needless to say I’ve always wanted to see how the delivery process goes for bulk, got a new subscriber 💪🏾💪🏾
I just found your channel Cody. Interesting, I worked for Pepsi in 1963,64 and 65 in Winnipeg Manitobs Canada. Things were quite a bit different back then. It was all glass bottles with wooden shells, we called them. The plastic cases nowadays. We had 10 oz, 16oz and quarts which were called family size. And there were no pre-sales back then. It was all driver sales to big and little stores. I'm wondering if you guys and gals have heard this one from back then. < Coca Cola came to town, Pepsi Cola shot him down, Dr. Pepper fixed him up. Now they all drink 7-up >. It was cute back in the 60's. I was 17 when I started with them, as a swamper ( helper ) . Had to be 18 to have a chauffer's license up here. Oh yes, you had to sort out your empties from all the other soft drink company's. Lots of cut fingers in Safeway stores, as they threw all the bottles together in one bin. Anyways, thanks for the vid to get me reminiscing.
That’s awesome! That’s crazy how much it had changed and that’s a really cool story thanks for sharing. I’m glad the video brought back some memories for you. I also like that story I’ll have to share that. Thanks!
I was gonna say around 17k, I do Receiving for a company in Pennsylvania. Typically get about 6-8 pallets 2 times a week, each delivery is around $7-9k and I'm a low volume store in comparison to our other locations in the area. I love our Pepsi drivers and my store Merch, Great people! Always a pleasure to work with!
I'm a merchandiser for Polar Beverages and I wish you were my driver. Some of our drivers don't start till 8-9AM even when receiving at the stores open at 5-6. Makes for a long day when drivers start late.
Just found your channel, I have been with Pepsi for 32 years, I’m a fleet mechanic out of Traverse City Michigan, we have been geo box for 11 years now.
This my first vid from you and I really like your content. I have a retest only for my road portion, I got nervous and kept stalling. I can't wait to start my trucking journey and build my experience to make more money. Also, I'm from Texas and only going for local jobs. I like being home every night.
@@Codystruckingadventures It's been 4 months and I doubt you'll see my comment lol but I had failed that retest at the time. Some other stuff happened that delayed my retest and that caused me to have to retake everything but that didn't stop me. I retested on everything today and passed, im a Class A holder now. Thankyou for your encouragement.
@@Codystruckingadventures just a quick question ❓ have you ever been to Dollar general?.. and the gun freeze 😂😂😂 and they won't take a scan sheet" so you gotta recount everything by hand🤣🤣🤣 real"shit
@@Codystruckingadventures they keep saying they going to switch it over a.s.n like family dollar... But they never changed it yet.. and f*** Walmart with they audits"like you really got time to count 10 skids
@@wesleyledbetter6711 exactly they supposed to all use the ANS but they never do Pepsi wasted some money on that. I’ll be at Walmart an hour and a half everyday it’s crazy
Im from IL Im a midwest regional driver, i think its b didnt know pepsi had bulk routes, i like your videos get to see the otherside of trucking since i go to a lot of distribution centers. Stay safe driver
Cody, loving the channel so far, as a CDL B driver looking to get my A in the winter after the summer ice delivery season. I would love to see more edited backing clips in the vids. Keep up the awesome work brother. Stay safe out there.
You all finally got rid of those crappy devices also those pallets are not the standard size it was so annoying to move them (I was receiving at Target)
Good upload. And I have a question. I’m assuming you guys haven’t implemented the Geobox system yet by looking at your plastic pallets? Are you guys still running side loaders? I’ve been working at Pepsi in Las Vegas, Nevada as a driver for almost 20 years now. Life really is but a vapor as James states in the Bible. It’s nice to see how different states run their sites. When your thumbnail said, “biggest load ever” I thought you were going to be breaking down the pallets at a c-store or something 😂😂. Anyways, I hope you have a good career for as long as you’re there. Blessings to you, young man.
it used to be a good day for me if all the invoices were facing front (mostly not and my 1st or 2nd stop would be all the way in the back of a trailer). now i'm hauling fuel, i don't have to deal with this sh*t.
What’s so hard about this job? I’m a new trucker and haven’t started my first job yet but looking for one. I wanna start long haul since it’s recommended, but what’s so bad about Pepsi? I get Sysco, that’s just too hard. FYI, I am a skinny dude but not that skinny.
Hey boss man , i see you haven’t posted in a while so im hoping you can respond to this but anyhow, i’ve had my cdl 3 months and im trying to get on at pepsi but im curious if there background check is a fingerprint background check? i have no felonies but i understand you don’t qualify some local jobs on certain misdemeanors .
@@Codystruckingadventures Thanks, I just started watching your videos, but I already love them sadly up here they're not looking for drivers, but I'd love to drive for Pepsi
"Not in a hurry at all today only 3 deliveries".... No worries that merch following ya doesnt have a life and nothing to do... Life of a bulk driver. Been in this business for 20yrs. This driver would prolly bow out stocking 1000+ cases every day lol.... Just remember theres a person waiting for you to drop the work off your not doing.... But no worries, no rush
I was a merchandiser before getting my CDL and making real money. I had all of the merchants numbers and knew when they was ready for deliveries. I respect merchandisers and went out of my way for them because I came from doing that. I got smart and got my CDL to make real money without killing my self. Want to work less and make more get a trade and not do that shitty work that’s my opinion🤷🏽♂️
This go-pro is absolutely a game changer when it comes to your channel ! Keep up the good work I enjoy watching your day in the life videos as it prepares us new drivers what it’s like everyday ty ty ! 💯
Reminds me of my job at FedEx. It’s rough delivering packages, especially when we have huge boxes of furniture and have to go to the top floor of an apartment complex, business, etc. Stay strong
I had poisoned from bad fish and chips..I was messed up for 4 days.. drinking a lot pineapple juice an eating crackers saltines slow ..I feel you brother
@larrydwash for Pepsi? Just take your time and learn as you go. Stay safe and get the experience and get something better. Keep a clean driving record and keep me updated good luck. It’s hard work but not as bad as food service or beer I’ve done both
I remember one day a Pepsi salesman refused to take back his unsold/damaged/expired products and was hiding them. I asked him to give our store credit and fought him for about a month. I had to refuse delivery before he started to accept returns. At least I got better dates.
I’m a driver and I still don’t get why sales rep don’t put them in A store tried to refuse me after I checked in because it was no returns. I walked out & didn’t put the pallets back on my truck 😂 I be damn
as a pepsi sales rep in canada. thanks for your hard work. If im in town i try to help my drivers out at my large small accounts if they need it as much as possible because i know how rough it can be to fill and hand bomb everything into some of these accounts.
I did Pepsi local driver for like 2 months lol. I'm 50 years old it was a little much for me. I was like 25 stops a day 4 days a week. I'm regional now it's not bad 5 on 2 off.
Absolutely getting cdl is best...I'm from Providence Rhode island an it cost me 3 Grand get it . plus my road instructor was dot state police an it wasn't easy ..I failed first time but got it second time..I do delivery for stop n shop an Walmart...it's ok being local
I’m from Longview texas. I have my interview at Pepsi on Wednesday. I am a new cdl holder.. it has been rough looking for a job. Haven’t got a lot of oppurtunitys I have had my cdl since January. Having to drive to the next town called Tyler.
Watching this as I drive to work at Pepsi on a Sunday. 🤣 but only a few guys do it. I chose to take Sundays because it’s nothing but hitting a few Walmarts and much easier money than a full day of normal geo work.
Worked for Pepsi in the late 70’s. Route sale/delivery to major grocery stores in Columbus Ga area. Manual pallet jacks. Was a workout everyday every stop had empties .
I left there a year ago after being there for six years and I do not miss that shit at all I went to LTL and I’m making eight dollars more an hour and free health insurance
Hypothetically speak if the doors on the trailer were to open and a whole pallet of sodas fall out and all the cases of soda are still good can I take the whole pallet of sodas but this is all Hypothetically oh and the driver of the truck doesn't know a pallet fell out till he/she gets to the destination
This really depends on the ones in your area and if it wastes a lot of time to go around them. Of course if your company takes care of the trucks you could just run through them.
Great video,Came across this on my feed and enjoyed It! I’m a beer delivery driver In northern Canada along the Alaska highway where It takes all day for the tailgate to come down It the winter almost lol!
just found your page here man very cool. I have been otr, dedicated, local, now yard driver. thouht about doing rout work but never got a chance. good video man keep it up.
Hey Cody.. I drive city LTL for Frontier in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Day usually starts at 8:30am and ends 4:30 to 5:30pm, drops in the morning and pickups after. Like you, I like sometimes getting the challenging docks and sometimes a residential or two. I always come on dock with a smile and a friendly attitude...it goes a long ways with dock workers. Great video as always.... and I would think that those 23 skids would be 30 thousand.
Used to haul Pepsi in Northern Ontario on a 48 foot 5 axle trailer. 90,000 of Pepsi in the back. Nice load, couldn't shift them, just had to make sure they didn't freeze
Pepsi... worst trucking job I've had. 13-16 stops, about 8 or so of which are unloading and stocking coolers and displays, pallet jacks that would die after 5-6 stops, trucks that were constantly down - It is what it is. The part I really didn't like was getting hit in the spine with the handle from a walk-in freezer door (working through physio and still dealing with it 2 years later) and getting terminated a month later because "there wasn't enough work", only for them to hire two new guys 2 weeks later, seems fishy.
I think Harry has it twisted. Theres no such thing as manual only CDL's. If you have a CDL, your licensed for EVERYTHING. You CAN have an AUTO only CDL however as SO many new drivers are not trained in manual trans any more, (sadly). Todd Konoske the retired trucker.
Hey how are ya I'm new here can you tell me what camera your using I've been trying to figure out how to do that what your doing with cameras and were you use it thanks
Trained for Mclane food service ,they deliver to longhorn, chadders, captain David,Oliver garden ,,couldn’t keep up w the pace ,u had 5 to 6 stops u had 1 to 2 hours to unload at each stop ,all u do is bring the pallets down like so and scan each box ,captains ds was the only store u had to break down the pallet and cart it in to the store ,u had 1,000 to 1300 boxes ,your payed for every box on truck @.24 cents topping at .32 cent mileage pay and stop pay I would say good money there but working overnight and at the pace u need to be to get done everyday by 2-3pm start all over at midnight ,one or two just depending on what time your first stop is of course if u get put on one certain route u will get to know what time u need to leave to be at each stop ,but yeah local work like food service is not for me ,I’ve only ran otr and dedicated no touch freight drops and live unloads and local food delivery was a different animal working on as the company imployees did Make mention it was true for me
Moved down from Ohio to Mississippi. Weather is so much better but not a huge fan of driving Northern Alabama "locally" haha Huntsville is a huge pain in my ass and I gotta stay in a hotel overnight and hotels aren't made for trucks.
It’s called a hood mirror my guy don’t know here you went to school but In the south that’s what it’s called I can out drive your ass any day bet money let’s make it happen
Ya I work for namebran grocery store and we don't get deliveries from you we get it through the are truck for the store but we got Pepsi Coke come in and put the bottles on the store
I ran a massive Coca-Cola warehouse. A full load of cans was about 46k pounds. TOTAL weight was ... marginal, but there was too much weight on the front axle. MANY times we would have a driver come back to our facility screaming about his $1200 fine from the weight station. Oops. We never did learn to do a 2-1-2 up front, but always went two across front to back.
great video Cody man wish you were a pepsi driver here in CA man I used to work at Safeway man nice of you to wrap for them knowing their busy getting ready for the holiday drivers would argue with my staff and just back and forth so I started doing the wrapping making everyone's job easier but that's Safeway for you
@Cody’s Trucking Adventures you Said it Cody: for sure, but just one reason I had to leave Safeway in 09 (they say how great they are as a team) but nope to much finger pointing and backstabbing and most people I meet are like...Safeway said they will do this and that if I join them I'm like good luck with that if you decide to work for them don't say I didn't warn you
Do truck drivers at Pepsi in California make enough to afford a home in a decent area over there and raise a family? I’m from Detroit and have a year of experience at Pepsi but I just got my CDL and I’ve been California dreaming wondering if I can make a living out there with two kids. My wife works as a registered nurse but I’d only want her to work part time. I want to live somewhere in LA/LA county. From what you know about the trucking industry and the CA economy is it doable?
