Here it is! The Dell G3. Dells budget lineup of gaming laptops. It's not bad but it's not my favourite. What do you guys think? Hit me up on discord if you have any questions! discord.gg/mattmoniz
Hey Matthew , Are some of MSI laptops factory defective?? Like even a brand new MSI GF63 or GV series will crash by just doing normal stuffs on MS office ?? I have heard alot but isn't sure if its true. After all it's MSI. I am stuck between HP omen , Y530, MSI GF63.
For me the best aspect of the G3 its his design. Its good to have a powerful machine that doesn't looks like a transformer. Easy to carry, not drawing attention at all. Its almost perfect for my personal use (besides the screen) since my unit has thunderbolt 3 port and i love the keyboard.
Yeah, I love the keybord, too. But I hate the CPU heat. It doesn't get hot while browsing or watching videos/films. But when you start playing a game, even if it's not a triple A game, the temperatures reach up to 90°C. (The highest I ever got while playing "The Witcher 3" in summer.) The design is the best, the mousepad is the best, in my oppinion the keybord's also quite good. I also don't dislike the monitor. All in all, it's the best budget Laptop I've ever had. As I said, the CPU heat is the only ugly aspect.
Some questions: Does it get hot and loud like the guy in the video says? Does it play the most demanding games at 1080p (Medium-High) 65+ FPS (with upto 90 FPS in some other Games)? How many hours of Video Playback time I can get based on Battery life? Are you satisfied with the speed of the SSD? *Can it run Crysis?*
@@sirazul438 I think so, too. Read the warning on the left 4:43. "You have been silenced for 15 hours due to multiple reports of...". He definitely was drunk.
2018 laptop manufactures: lets put some of this new powerful specs, what do you mean we need better thermals? its fine don't worry about it! its not like this generation increased in core count and boost clock significantly therefore outputs more heat than the last one.
I recently bought this laptop and I’m very happy with it. I play Witcher 3 on high settings at 45fps, which is completely fine for me (I can’t really see a big difference between 45 and 60) and I play GTA V on a mix of high and very high settings at 60fps. It does get a little hot in GTA (CPU reaches 87C) but I do live in a hot country where it is currently summer. Overall I think the temperatures are quite good. I have applied an under volt but I don’t know if that did anything however. The screen isn’t as dim as I was expecting, it is perfectly bright enough for me. And maybe it’s because I’m coming from a 2014 low end HP Pavilion, but I don’t even notice the low colour accuracy of the screen. Overall a good laptop for the money.
Good review! I have one of these, and I'm pretty happy with it so far. Oh, and Dell has been using the same huge power bricks on their Inspiron gaming notebooks for years now, so yeah, a smaller, more modern looking one would be nice.
Is the display as bad as I'm hearing from reviewers? I'm considering this one from Dell but my main concern is the screen brightness/quality for everyday use.
@@carlosalba7790 you gotta know that most of these reviewers are used to 4k displays with 95 to 100% color accuracy and for them anything below that might be awful, I used to have an old crappy toshiba laptop with the shittiest TN panel ever and upgraded to a Dell Inspiron with a 4K touch screen, for me that display was beautiful, but according to most reviewers the colors of the display weren't good enough. Do you get my point? It depends on what you're used to.
The G3 is a good laptop for the money, it's not amazing but it's not bad at all. I was going to purchase a fully decked out i7 G3 (I don't like how the G5 and G7 look) for content creation but learned that the screen was garbage. I opted to spend a little more and get an XPS 15 2 in 1 with an i7 8705G and 16GBs of ram for about $1650 during Dell's recent promotion. The included Vega GPU isn't as good as the 1060 Max Q (more in line between a 1050 and 1050 Ti) but the trade off of having a 4k touch screen with 100% Adobe RGB color accuracy was well worth it.
"spends a little more" thats like twice the price bro, but i agree. the screen is what killed it for me and it seems like all these budget laptops carry this terrible screen. hopefully next years iteration will have a better display.
@@gangatalishis Well a fully decked out G3 which is what I was considering is around $1200 so I didn't spend twice as much for the XPS. But yeah the entire G line, even the G7 have pretty bad screens, like 46% Adobe RGB color representation and around 200 nits of brightness. The XPS line was really my only option for a really good screen while still packing a lot of power.
03chrisv ...and if the laptop has a Thunderbolt Three port (which if probably does) then you can hook up an external GPU to the laptop. Just make sure you have a separate monitor for the best performance.
I mean I'm coming from a 10 year old laptop so i don't think keyboard travel distance matters to me and same with battery. My old laptop battery lasted 20 minutes so 5 hours I'm fine with lol
They had a Cyber Monday special for this laptop at Dell for $450 after rebate today. Even though you said the display isn't great, the keyboard key travel isn't long enough, I think it's definitely worth $450. (i5-8300H, 8gb RAM, 1tb hybrid HD, GTX 1050)
Hey Matthew , please make a comparison video between the msi gf63, hp power gaming and Dell G3. If you could please add Asus TUF , legion y530 to the comparison. This will be really helpful for most of the users .
good temperatures? I have this computer more than 7 months ago and I still have the same problems 3 days after using it ... the CPU at 3.4gh reaches 100 degrees at 10 minutes of playing ... playing any game, the area wasd it gets so hot that you could cook an egg, and if you lower the speed of the CPU you will see a very big impact on the performance ... and supposedly it goes up to 4.1ghz .. HA! good luck with that.
Second hand gaming store for my 8 yr old to run a few RU-vidrs games on steam $550 may 2020. Before he had a tower pc form the ‘90’s running XP or something like that not fun no game on steam. He is happy with it. It’s a pretty dark room all day anyway. Cheapest elsewhere is still 645-850 up over a grand still. He is straight gamer for life boy! Whatever they can still make good money as adults right? People always put him down for being a gamer. How can I not support this behavior it is his only behavior. Besides martial arts. At least he’s not kicking anyone at the moment.
Hey matt can you do a review of Asus' Vivobook S530? I think it's a great laptop for casual gamers who also wants a thin, light and portable laptop. And while you're at it i think the filament green colour is a great option to look at
Well I dont even eat at McFatonalds, but I did cash out 1300$ for G3 with i7 8750, gtx 1050 Ti, pcie 512GB SSD and 8GB ram and it was far cheaper than some other brands with the same spec. So for that price, it is good.
This pc is on sale for $699.99 directly from dell due to them having a “cyber week savings” It has... -8gb RAM ddr4 -i5 processor -Geforce GTX 1050 4gb card -1TB hard drive Is it worth it?
gopal vora, lol. I wanted this laptop. The funny thing is apparently i looked at my parents checkout basket on amazon and they allready got me my dream desktop pc. So this question is no longer relevant to me but ill keep it up for you. Hope you get a good laptop.
I have a G3 with Intel Core i7-8750H & a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti with 8Gb DDR4 2666MHz RAM. Mine has a fingerprint reader & I noticed yours doesn't have one. I wonder which model includes one? The performance has been meeting my workload demands so I'm happy about it. Although I can be more comfortable if the thermals are better. Maybe I'll mess with undervolting when I have time.
Why? Why is everyone so obsessed with usb c?! I have seen exactly 0 devices which can be connected to a laptop via usb c. In contrast, every day I see and need to work with lots of devices which cannot be connected to a laptop via USB c. many projectors that I regularly need to deal with don't even have HDMI.
I'm choosing between this laptop and NTBK HP 15-CC183CL I7-8550U, 12GB, 1TB, DVDRW, TOUCHSCREEN, WIN10, 4GB DE VIDEO for video editing in premiere pro. any suggestions?
Looking to buy a Dell G3 (i5 8300H, 8 gb ram, 1 tb SSHD, 1050 ti) OR MSI GF63 with a better CPU (i7 8750h) for $100 USD more. Would you recommend going with the MSI? Based on your review MSI is a Max Q is that a big downgrade?
Hello everyone, I am thinking of buying a new laptop and my two main options are Dell G3 15 (i5-8300H; 256GB SSD; Nvidia GeForce GTX1050; 8GB RAM; Linux) for 588€ or Asus Vivobook S430FN (i5-8265U; 256GB SSD; Nvidia GeForce MX150; 8GB RAM; W10) for 749€. Any suggestions? Which one is more worth?
Hey Matt do you think this or the acer aspire 7 is a better Pick? I need it for school stuff but i also wanna play some overwatch and fortnite on it. What do you think?
Which one i have to prefer g3 or g7 for development environment??and how the cooling functionality will work on g3 or g7 when I use the laptop for 15 hours per day??
If it's for gaming, it is actually muuuch cheaper than most. I just bought mine last week and so far it works well :) also 49,999php siya today sa market dito sa atin. Second hand siguro yang 42k na nakita mo
my country is quite limited on the options i could get the best value by getting a ssd only version and than a wd black 2.5 inch drive but toes opening it to put in the hard drive void the warranty or no (assuming you dont break anything)
Nice review. I am looking for a good budget gaming laptop and I I'm really confused between the Dell G3 and the HP pavilion gaming laptop. Can anyone help me with this? Also if there are any other laptops which I should consider?
Bhavik Patel You can check the other Dell G5, G7, and the Lenovo Legion Y530 or Y730 that’s coming out soon. Eluktronics gaming laptops have gotten some good reviews as well.
If I will buy this laptop but I'm not going to use this to play video games, I am going to use for study a Engineering Career at the College, so I need to run apps like Matlab, Autocad, SolidWorks, etc. This will be a good computer for this purpose or I have to see for another option?
