I've got the R9 variant. I've done the following; -32GB (2× 16GB) 3200mt/s CL18 RAM -upgraded battery -added second 2tb M.2 -MX-5 Thermal Paste -Re-pad w/ better pads -Mesh removed from tray intake vents -Taped up gap between fans and exhaust fins Still on BIOS v1.4.4 and have to use Dell July 2020 driver every time I upgrade GPU drivers for FreeSync to work properly.
@@nexus_tech yeah, it serves me well. I'll hold onto it for a bit. I use it mainly when I can't get to my office at night, and when I'm out of town. Not sure I'll upgrade from it any time soon, so long as it serves me well for 6 more years.
This is a great laptop. I have mine hooked up to a 1440p monitor and get some good food with low cpu temps so it doesn't throttle back. I did move to an Xbox series X but now back to the G5... Can't beat pc gaming 😊
@@nexus_tech u can use the windows registry hack to limit the max voltage to 100W when u select the "efficient aggressive" option from the "edit power plan". It works for me.
