It's held in by a screw that needs to be removed to get the cover off, and after that it's only held in place by the optical drive being pressed against the back cover... And obviously the optical drive was already removed. So yes it is dumb, but only in the sense that it's dumb design by Dell lol

SATA is backwards compatible as far as I know, although you might not get SATA3 speeds if it's only a SATA2-capable chipset (for example)

I think you can see by the empty RAM slot (top left corner of the video at 2:23) it says "ONLY DDR4"?
