So i replaced the fan on somebody's Inspiron and i ran into a problem i never seen before. The original fan was completely dead when i got it,it used to rattle for 3-4 months till it gave up totally and the owner wanted to finally replace it. I got a replacement that was advertised to work with the laptop,the shape and screwholes all match up,the connector and the wiring are the same as the original fan but the laptop still thinks the fan is dead and it's reporting fan error when i boot the computer up. The replacement fan is actually running but it's always in full speed and will never stop + it still thinks the fan is dead. Tried updating and downgrading the BIOS and it still didn't fix it. Anybody has any idea what this issue could be? It did shut off a few times due to overheating according to the BIOS log so i guess the motherboard got damaged somehow?

I did that cleaning but there is unnormal noise I don't want to replace it cause the replacement quality is shit

Is it absolutely necessary to clean up the thermal paste and replace with new? I guess not a good idea just to fix the fan and put the heat sink back. Thank you for a great video!

This is very well presented, but what oil/grease do you use for the fan hub ? Can i use 3in1 oil or is that too much viscosity?
