Thanks for the video. I'm still using this laptop because I don't have money to buy a new one😂. I'm planning to upgrade the processor and ram. I'm using it for coding and it is running smoothly on Linux Mint distro. This laptop is superb.
Yea i got 120gb ssd, 6gb ram and cpu intel i7 640m, gonna resell it. Bit sad this model does not have a discrete video card, and so the integrated gpu is still good enough for office tasks and Windows 10😃
Hello Pduesp, excellent video on the disassembly of the Dell Inspiron 15 N5040. I followed it and did the procedure on one I had to attempt to fix the Dell overheating problem. I did have a question, was it necessary to remove the bottom cover screws? Seems everything was accessible from the top. Still, excellent work, thank you.
My apologies, that was a dumb question on my part, I remember seeing the pem nuts on the front cover now. I did have a comment about the vent openings on the bottom cover for the fan exhaust, I notice they only expose about a third of the fan opening. Does that make sense? Shouldn't the whole fan area be exposed for maximum air flow?
Habt dank. Sieht nach einem langem Geschäft aus. Sie haben fast den kompletten Rechner auseinander genommen. Muss man auch für die alte HDD bzw. SSD so viele schrauben aufdrehen? Gut gelungenes material. Weiter so bitte.
Peaaegu saaks olla rahul sellise video tulemusega kuid juttu on arvuti puhastamisest siis ventilaatori sisu see arvutile kõige suurem kurjajuur ongi. Videos pole näha et oleksid ventilaatori lahti võtnud ja näidanud ka teistele palju sinna aastaga jahutusribide ette tolmu koguneb. CPU poleks ma lahti võtnud.
fine laptop i got for resell in truly good stand, wanna put i7 640m cpu, 6gb ram and 128gb ssd, good office machine for windows 10 despite the 10 year anniversary
I have a question. I have a dell n5040 and the battery does not charge, I have bought a new battery all together but it still won’t charge but will turn on and work but stay at 0% is it the charger or something internally I need to change?

+soleilno2 the display cable, the display unit contains 2 wires one data cable and one cable for the W-Lan device. If u have no screen activities u have to replug it.
Ich habe mich gefragt, wie es geht Öffne mein altes Inspiron (habe es ausprobiert) es funktioniert wirklich gut Ich weiß, ich kann meine Festplatte ersetzen wann immer ich brauche, danke übrigens translated from english
I own one of theses and i have Windows 10 on it even though it should not run at all I have 2 gigs of ram and a amd hd integrated cpu graphics And 300 gigabyte hard drive
pduesp now plugged it properly. But didn't come. Can I try your instructions with battery? Or every time I need to remove and after setting make in. Can I connect to you personally, if possible?
You should never spread the thermal paste. Especially with something so dirty like a credit/debit card. Something that has collected dust/dirt/anything on a human hand should never be used. On most CPU's you usually only put a drop of thermal paste and the heat sink will spread it out evenly when pressed on top of the CPU and screwed in correctly. You also need at least 91% isopropyl Alcohol to clean off the original thermal paste before EVER adding new thermal paste. Adding thermal past on top of thermal paste will not evenly disperse the heat.
+Austin Chaney i clean the CPU with alcohol but i will continue using a credit card because it contains a perfect shape for this action. Thanks for your comments
