I got this laptop 2 years ago and upgraded to 32gb of RAM and it has been one of my favorite laptops, its fast, small, and has good battery life. I also like the matte screen vs the glossy screen I had on my old Dell. This laptop is also very well built and strong. It is probably the most under rated used laptop and an absolute steal for under $200-300.
@@GabrielBisiriyu Overheating can be fixed by disabling Turbo Boost in the BIOS settings, I would recommend looking up a guide if you’re unfamiliar. Also, fan noise goes down dramatically when disabling turbo boost
@@brianstehle9724 This one came with the Samsung 981 SSD, some review units I see online also came with this SSD. It’s entirely possible some units came with other brands/models. Performance should not be much different across the range
I have issues with this laptop. I bought it yesterday 2nd hand > rubbery surfaces. It sticks to skin and feels disgusting > the screen cannot be fully opened. At most you can open it up to 100 degrees. The screen base touches against the floor. As a tall person, this is so not ergonomic
@@jerricosagala2904 Return it if the rubber is sticky, it’s probably been left on a tabletop in the sun for years. You shouldn’t have that issue with any normal soft touch material for 8-12 years (or past the normal usability of the laptop). I remember the laptop opening a bit further than 100 degrees but it’s been a while since having this. There is a 2-in-1 model, albeit slightly more expensive. I believe the reason for the bottom of the display lifting the base off the ground is for cooling on a flat surface. Not too many places to put vents on such a thin machine! Appreciate your criticisms
Nicely timed, my Latitude E7470 just crapped out yesterday with a corrupted hard disk after 4-5 years of faithful service and heavy abuse by me (besides the fact it was already refurbished to begin with). Had been looking at other laptops right before, guess it gave up the ghost when it saw that lmao. The lack of backlit keyboard was my biggest annoyance with it, this'll be a nice upgrade. Although, I'll miss the matte anti-glare screen, that was a sweet feature. And the ethernet port, never really used it but it was nice to have the option.
For sure! As my channel grows I’ll be able to get my hands on newer and newer machines. Might I recommend you also check out the Dell XPS 9500 & 9700. I’m getting one to review and the specs are an all around improvement for roughly $300-$400. One thing of note is you have to disable the turbo boost function in the BIOS to prevent thermal throttling. I unboxed a brand new Latitude 5000 for a customer and it was overheating right out of the box until I disabled that setting
Just pruchased a Dell 7490 in marketplace in $110 with backlit keyboard, Core i5 8th gen, 8GB RAM, SSD 512GB, in excelent condition. Great for bussiness.. RAM upgraded to 32GB now, great laptop in 2024.
what about Safe screen technology? I've read many complains about the bad view angle because of that and you can not turn it off(you can but it is still bad)
I don’t like any of that stuff, I’ve never had a laptop with that enabled and if you option that in that usually means you have a higher end device you’d be using in private rather than in public anyways
Excellent question, it’s noticeable but not shrill. Like I’ve told some other people disabling the turbo boost function in the BIOS settings will help the laptop run a lot cooler at the expense of 25% extra power when needed, since it’s so thin it will throttle down fairly quickly
@@leftraiser699 The Dell. Lenovos have historically faced more quality issues than Dells in the long run. I had a T14 gen 1 that the trackpad stopped working on and the only solution was a desolate software update. I quickly sold it and got another Dell
@@DC224gb64 The fan noise isn’t offensive, it’s quiet but high pitched. Temps are on the higher end being as thin as something like this and the easiest way to bring fan noise and temperatures down is by disabling the Intel Turbo Boost in the BIOS. After doing that, it’ll run cool with very little fan noise
@@LeooSaGoh It doesn’t but a USB-C dock would do you wonders in adding even extra ports on top of Ethernet and you might as well have one if you’re going to be plugged in anyways
Can it run games like Roblox, Fortnite, and other simple games? can it connect to a monitor with no lag? i’m getting this laptop for christmas so i wanted to know (also the one im getting has 32gb and 1TB SSD and Intel i7)
@@wezzy_fr it can run Roblox just fine, Fortnite won’t be able to run very well at all. I would recommend an HP Pavilion gaming laptop with dedicated graphics for around the same price. It won’t be as thin or light nor have as good build quality but it will have much better cooling and performance for what you’re after
Make sure you have the latest SIM card drivers from Dell’s website. If that doesn’t work I would take the laptop with you to the cell carrier store and make sure you’re using the right SIM card
@@wezzy_fr You will need to disable turbo boost in the BIOS which nicks some performance, not that it would be able to play many intensive games to begin with, but Roblox should be able to run just fine
@@sofiamathioudaki7874 These laptops meet the minimum requirements for Sims 4, but the integrated graphics don’t meet the recommended requirements so you may need to lower the resolution and video settings
The battery is user replaceable, just unscrew the bottom lid then there’s 3 hex screws holding in the battery. The carbon fiber model appears to be just as common, if not more common, than the plain metal back
That is an excellent question, the price differs depending on where you get it from. I paid around 8300 rupees for my review unit, which was in poor, if not fair condition. For nicer units with the touchscreen upgrade in better shape you should expect to pay between 12,500-20,000 rupees
@@cmrdecc6516 You should! They’ll be usable up until Windows 11 isn’t supported anymore. If you really really take care of one of these you can fetch at least 10 years out of it, maybe suffice for a battery replacement and the occasional cleaning
Wow, that’s awesome to see the reach my videos have. I’m so happy you like the channel! Now for the question, which free fire game? I’m seeing one with a PC version and one you’d have to download an Android emulator for
32GB of DDR4 laptop ram isn’t that expensive anymore with the release of DDR5, it’s nice that the storage and memory are expandable and not soldered to the board, and you have to install drivers on almost any used computer if you want to properly wipe any previous user’s information or even viruses, but 2GB ram usage for headphone software? You need to download the Waves Maxxaudio software from the Dell website (even if it’s the same version) and completely reinstall it. You should be using 4-5MB ram max. Looking around online this seems like a common issue but that wouldn’t be any reason to completely denounce an otherwise well built and affordable modern laptop. Hope this helps :)
@@ericking6996 Yes, you wouldn’t be able to play very many videogames so you could focus on your schoolwork. I bet I could get through college using a laptop from 2009. Yes, you can install Google Chrome on it
