Dell Studio 1747 Disassembly, repair and assembly. Part #1 

Simply put, even at the fast forwarded parts, this'll take me, an intermediate for the disassembly just to replace the thermal, an easy 3-4hrs comfortably with final testing at end. Yeah i'll have to block a proper timeslot for this laptops repair, as I don't have the tiem right now. Tyvm for producing this video. Still helpful even in 2019. The hard part for me was identifying the sensor bar for the play pause etc. That one had excess glue holding it together, lost a screw port in the process, but still works. Oi.

can someone please tell me the space in the middle whats it for? because i thou it was for a second HDD but the connecters are pointing outward

Hello, My Studio 1747 has a strange behaviour : when any program (desktop interface, browser,...) try to use the 3D instructions set, the laptop freezes or crashed. This behaviour happens with Windows and Linux. If I limit the use to 2D instructions set (disabling hardware acceleration for the browser for instance), it runs fine. I did run the diagnostic tools from Dell and it didn't detect any problem... Do you already goes into this trouble before ? Do you have any advice for me in order to help me isolate the origin of the problem and try to fix it ? Many thanks,

Thanks for posting your video . It help me out. I have this system it great. However over heated once and it turn off. When I was playing grand theft 4. maybe it cant handle that game. I open it to check the fan if needed be clean. because I didn't here it. fan does works fine after all. I brought it pawnshop few months ago. person own it before must of took good care of it.
